Barry, what are your thoughts on Magnus Carlsen? Some already consider him to be the GOAT but there are some who think that he's an overrated system grandmaster who wouldn't be able to handle the more physical and gritty Soviet era of the 80s and 90s.

Steven Jackson - 9 straight 1,000 yard seasons, one of the best seasons from scrimmage in NFL history in 2006 while operating in a system run by Marc Bulger of all people. The biggest thing as to why the 1985 Bears didn’t become a dynasty - Jim McMahon got obliterated a dirty hit from the Packers in 1986, disrupting the season. Also, defensive mastermind Buddy Ryan left the team to coach for the Eagles. The defense was better in 1986 but losing McMahon was a huge loss to that specific year, and losing Ryan hurt long term.

Aaron Rodgers, in the playoffs mostly. Rodgers is labeled as a choker and playoff underachiever despite very good stats (45TDs, 13INTs, 100.1 passer rating) and many other great stats. This is vastly superior to Brady, who has just a 90.4 playoff passer rating. He experienced several bad games and blowouts, but his defense was atrocious in half of his losses. He also got screwed majorly by Brandon Bostick and his defense vs. Arizona in 2015, and by Kevin King in 2020. Don't know what to think, but as a Packers fan I'm sick of how much he gets dunked on for the team's performance. It's like every qb not named Tom Brady is always the reason why the team loses and not the reason why the team wins.
@memeteam2692 Жыл бұрын
You sound like a typical Rodgers stan. But you make some good points about how the 'blame it on the quarterback' trope has been waived for Brady a lot. Also seven Super Bowls stands for something even if Brady himself wasn't 100% responsible for some of them
@cornelius9466 Жыл бұрын
@@memeteam2692 Well Aaron Rodgers doesn't have "Stans" like Brady does. While his team came up short many times, he has so many clutch moments that were wasted by his defense in the playoffs that I don't see how a rational person can say he's a choker. Don't believe me? Here's a list: 2009: Led offense to 45 points and came back from 31-10 deficit to tie the game. 2013*: Led a game-tying drive with 6 minutes left, defender dropped a game-sealing INT. 2014: Team blew 19-7 lead with Rodgers not even doing anything, led game-tying field goal drive with less than a minute left. 2015: Completed 2 insane hailmary throws on 4th and 20 and 2nd and 15 with only 55 seconds left to tie game, defense lost in OT. 2020: "Choked" despite throwing 3TDs, 101.6 passer rating and many amazing throws downfield. In all but one of the other games (5 other games) his defense gave up at least 37 points (in 4 of those games). *For the 2013 season is that the team wouldn't have made the playoffs if not for Rodgers throwing a hailmary on 4th and 8 to get to 8-7-1 and win the division. I won't pretend like Rodgers has been perfect, as his offense had many slow starts in blowout losses, but when the defense has allowed nearly 5 touchdowns per game in the average loss, I don't know how any quarterback can win. If you think I'm nitpicking because the team will allow more points in losses than wins on average, Tom Brady's defense has allowed "just" 26.7 ppg in his 12 playoff losses, which is bad, but nearly as atrocious as Rodgers' defense allowing 331 points in 10 playoff losses, 33+ ppg, and 35.8 ppg in his first 9 (because the loss against San Fransisco is an outlier, being the only loss in which the defense didn't allow at least 23 points). Aaron Rodgers' offense has scored a respectable 23.5 ppg in those losses, which is not amazing, but still good enough to win with great defensive support. This is a bit of a rambling, but the evidence out there shows Rodgers to be a very good postseason quarterback whose teams routinely shit themselves to prevent him from winning more.

Hey Barry, what are your thoughts on Hakuhō shō? Before and especially after his retirement many people dubbed him as the best rikishi of all time. This is mainly due to his unparalleled Makuuchi Division Championships, career wins, and the fact that he reached the rank of Yokozuna. But does he compare to some of the ancient greats like Raiden Tameemon or Tanikaze Kajinosuke? With such a storied history as is with sumo I just wonder how possible is it for the best to really have competed now? But Hakuhō’s dominance is untouched and truly unparalleled. Sean Taylor, a career that was cut tragically short unfortunately, but I still think he was one of the most feared defenders in the 2000’s. Was he overrated because of his big hitting or underrated because everyone thought he could only hit big.

Hi Barry, I don’t know if you’re gonna do another one if these, but I would love to know your opinion on Roy Halladay. He retired without a ring despite being considered by Blue Jays and Phillies fans to be one of the best pitchers of late 2000’s and early 2010’s love your content btw

Hey, Barry. What do you think of Demaryius Thomas? Personally, he was my favorite WR growing up, as he was not just one of the best deep threats of the early 2010s, but also one of the best WRs during that time period. He even recorded over 1000 yards in 2016, despite having Trevor Siemian as his QB. May D.T. Rest In Peace. 😔🙏🏼

Barry, I'd like to hear your thoughts on The Beatles. They're frequently cited as the best rock n roll band in history, and nearly all of their albums are in the top 20 best albums of all time list on Rolling Stone. All 4 members are in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, some inducted twice for their work in The Beatles and their solo work.

George Kittle, broke the TE receiving record with Nick Mullens as his qb and never really had a great qb in his career, but is extremely injury prone (mostly because Jimmy throws the most hospital passes in the league).

What’s your opinion on Sam Cassell? He was a big piece on numerous great teams over his career, but was never the top guy on any of those teams. Is his value to those teams exaggerated, or is he overlooked for simply being in better players’ shadows?
@vaclevsta2 жыл бұрын
I think he's overlooked. Considering how much people talk about Robert Horry, Cassell was a much better player. He just didn't have quite as good luck with teammates after leaving Houston.

Shaun Alexander. He seems largely forgotten about because he played in LaDainian Tomlinson's era but he was a really good running back
@loganhess13892 жыл бұрын
Yeah kinda, but the combination of the mileage on his tires and Hutchinson leaving caused his efficiency to absolutely plummet after his 2005 season and even then, he was injury prone. He should be talked about more, but I’m not sure he’s HoF worthy.

Sadly, there have been many running backs who had a couple of monster seasons and then flamed out due to injuries/overuse. Great as Alexander was for a brief stretch, he still doesn't quite measure up to the guys like Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson or Terrell Davis.
@loganhess13892 жыл бұрын
@@vaclevsta Not sure Davis should be in canton either. Part of the reason why Campbell’s prime was so short was the turf he played on. Completely ruined his knees.

As F1 fan I will say Lewis is definitely properly rated and better than Schumacher. He came to the sport at right time. McLaren times he carried the badly developed team (this includes DSQ scandals in 2007 and 2009-2012 Vettel's dominant era). Also comparing his rivalry with Rosberg in 2014-2016 was much enjoyable to watch than Schumi-Barichello in Ferrari's. 2017-2020 easily was best Hamilton he delivered, what every F1-fan saw. And he got robbed in 2021... Senna is the GOAT
