I like classic mst3k, and I respect him for creating it ..but honestly Joel just isn't nearly as funny as Mike in the slightest. I like his dry delivery and it's not like bad or anything..but Mike is just so much funnier with the bots, and I mean rifftrax has taken this concept and improved it unbelievably. Mike just has so much better comedic timing, his style is better for the medium too. But, in his defense, Joel has one of my favorite episodes, the Billy at the fair short, it has the best apsects of Joel's comedy, the dark, fucked up hilarious jokes haha.

I always thought that Joel wanted the atmosphere of ineptitude (when did he, the villains or the bots _EVER_ do anything_ right?) creep into the riffs as well. Maybe an obsession over pacing? Whereas Mike obviously wanted more jokes filling in the silences. Mike was right. Not sure also if this went with Joel's "acting" tired or high all the time. The thing is, Joel is effing inconsistent. Whether it;s because he's tired or high, there were entire episodes where he was horrible. Then ones like this where he's quick & sharp. The second always works better. But he couldn't _be_ sharp consistently. That's my biggest knock against him. He wasn't always "there" & it showed.
