So, the Justice Manual states in 1901-1999: 1911. 8 U.S.C. 1325 that “...improper entry into the United States by an alien, ...shall be subject to a civil penalty.” A civil penalty is defined as “a non-criminal remedy for a party’s violations of laws or regulations.” Are you really in support of separating and imprisoning people for committing a misdemeanor that should be subject to civil penalty?

This administration's policies as well as our government's meddling in the South/Central American countries seem to have created this specific problem. Obviously, Congress/Senate have not addressed the immigration laws for decades. That does contribute, but I don't think it can be responsible for this specific problem at this time. I think that it's part of their job to treat these people humanely. If they're not doing that, they are the only ones who can be blamed.
