Beautiful country, beautiful people, affordable, and nearly all of them speak English -some speak it better than most Americans. Many live incredibly poor in bamboo huts with no A/C, electricity nor plumbing, but they will always offer you to eat with them and bend over backwards to show you their hospitality and pride in their country. If any of you haters actually visited this country, you would understand and would yearn for the time when you can go back. I was just there with my American girlfriend and we both fell in love with the country and the people. I was there for 3 weeks and saw 5 Americans. Americans rarely visit there, so they don't know what they are missing.

Think about it, that's super expensive considering you don't have a big back yard, garage, gated entry into subdivision, central air & heat. I'm am sorry and embarrassed by any Americans who judged you for that video. I lived in Central Luzon at the State Uni. When I was 6 or 7. My dad worked on a grant to teach locals how to grow talapia in the rice fields. We lived in an air-conned concrete home and we were considered upper class. Many of my friends lived in huts and cooked on an outdoor fire. I still remember it (it was early 80s) because it was the greatest place in the world. My older sister is adopted from there. I had the freedom to play safely all over the campus. I would LOVE to live with the locals in a $28 apt. There is nothing that money can buy that is better than their culture. I pray that one day I can take my son and husband back there. Keep on being you, don't waste time with those that are jealous because they have a huge mortgage and massive debt. Luv ya bro !

Mark, I liked your beach shack video...brought back a lot of memories. I was stationed in Ubon, Thailand back in 1972 and lived on the Mun river in Warin Chamrap. The bus fare to the air base was 50 satang (1/2 baht). It was a wood shack on stilts with a grass roof that kept it cool. The rent was 180 Baht/month or 9 US dollars at that time. Utility costs were zero because there was no electricity or running water. My source of entertainment was a Tanin brand AM radio that used one D-cell battery. It was my favorite place to stay because I lived in a village with 20-30 Thai families who made it a home. There were no locks because there weren't any doors to put them on. No refrigerator..didn't need one...the local mom & pop store kept my ice box stocked with drinks, the food cupboard full and charcoal for my grill. I miss the simplicity of life back then and feel bad for the present day digital ding-dongs, born with USB sockets in their heads and can't go five minutes of their day without microwaving their brains with smart phones. I recommend those folks develop some real life skills..the day the power goes out for good may be just around the corner.

It's all good! I'm 66 I've experienced out door toilets, carrying water to the house from a spring, bathing in a #3 tub, wood stoves. No electricity was in existence. I just want to throw in my 2 cents for what it's worth. I will be in Angeles on January 11th- 24th, for my birthday. I hope I see you on the street, I'll buy you a beer or rum! But back to what I wanted to say. I go to the Philippines every year, and yes no matter what people think, it is still a third would country, the filipinos there have it ruff, but they always have an excellent attitude on life and they will share everything they have with you no matter what. so when I go back to the states, I am extremely grateful for the things and the life I have and it is a constant reminder of the truth in this world. It's always so easy to judge when you're on the outside looking in. I plan on retiring there in the next 9 or 10 years and I would love to have a place just like that, so keep up all the great videos!
