love that you're leaning into the critique of you overintellectualising fashion

6:30 idk if i buy that luxury and elevation go hand-in-hand with couture construction Quality. as virgil said, you dont sell an item by making the best possible item, you sell it by contextualizing it in the most desirable associations/settings. demna stands for disruption of high and low, but in the same way that Uber or airbnb thinks of disruption.

11:50 one of the things that sold me on balletcore was the debut of demna's offerings on the trend at the mud show. as a guy who is interested in the physicality of creative labor the brutalizing of that silhouette helped sell it to me as sportswear.

sat on the mother couch ! My first thought was how FIDM always does the interior + fashion designer collaboration project for their students and they present a piece of furniture + fit. I love the emptiness of the images like "no ones home". Or even trying to get rid of the chairs, shot at an angle like it's on FB marketplace. And then I feel silly for falling for the rage bait - "its not that deep" thoughts haha gets me every time

Does it count as falling for rage bait if you're not raging though?

This video speaks to me so much. I agree with your thoughts about Balenciaga, and I tend to overthink everything they do 😆 love u for this 🫶🏻

i see how you reinforce the idea of absurdity in a the questions balenciaga raises when juxtaposing or creating a dialectical experience for the viewers, and creating 'uncomfortable' experiences within fashion by making them 'human'. for that point I would ask ifit wasn't absurd what would it be? From my purview it isn't as much an absurd experience rather a composite experience consequentially subverting expectations with purpose or via a byproduct. Wheras with Juergen and Demna placing sofa's in situe, in space is more of an invitation back outside and inviting people to see a new perspective of what outside can be useful for. Demna is well known for his social acuity and commentary. One thing that is penetrating the zeitgeist more and more is liminal spaces the abberant happening when a space gets abandoned by humans and to place it in open streets and lakeside where 100 years ago would be filled by people (and possibly pre pandemic) are empty. Being a consequence of society today for the consumer and the business - to comment to be still in a transient areas. valuing like you called it the mundane and seeing the luxury in spaces that are pretty unassuming...
