I bought a Sigineer inverter that looked suspiciously similar. I did some digging found out Sigineer makes inverters for multiple brands. You should check out the Sigineer web site. They mostly seem to prefer to just be the OEM supplier, but will sell direct from China to US retail customers.

I think the 12 kw has toroidal transformers and that's why it can handle 36kw surge so cleanly. The pump is for a 5 HP well pump and it's mainly for 110v indoor centrifugal pumps. Most Chinese inverters have square transformers which require a 3rd transformer to take some of the hit of AC units when the transfer switch is activated.

I know the electronic power and motherboard of this unit, and bought this in China a couple of years ago in the 12 and 24 volt version, so without the transformers. The transformers are the problem and give to much zero load consumption. I saw this in a second video of this unit, the zero load is about 175 watts, witch is to high. About 60 to 75 watts or less for a unit this size is possible. The small transformer is a choke, a induction coil. I think the power pack is to small for 10000 watts, and also the connection to the battery is to light, and shoud be 100% copper. I think the power pack is good for about 5k watts no more. Try to find a good transformer disigned for sinewave inverters 48 volts no more than 5 kwatts inprove the battery connection, and may be it will run for a while, but this is poorly disigned, and will fail at 10000 watts.

Cut and paste from the Aims manual: **The pump output will only be used when a pump struggles to operate smoothly when connected to the primary AC output of the inverter. This output has an additional inline transformer for added inductance and is less efficient than the primary AC output terminal block. Do not use this output if the pump operates normally when connected to the primary AC output. Batteries will discharge faster when connected to the pump output.

Found in an Amazon review of another inverter in this range, what the "pump input" is. It's an unfused 240V output that runs 24/7 for a water pump. Apparently not powerful enough to run a well pump, which earlier units could do. Not sure what use it is without knowing it's power output, perhaps you could test it with various loads and see at what point the AC voltage drops.
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar 4 жыл бұрын
I actually found that the manual for the 12kW inverter explains the pump input. I'm not sure why it was left out of the 10kW inverter manual. It suggests only using it if the main inverter output is not powerful enough to start the well pump. You can find the manual for the 12kW model here www.aimscorp.net/documents/ETL8K12K%2010072019.pdf :)

@@LithiumSolar it's a pump output not input. It's not labeled correctly as input. The extra transformer provides extra inductance for pumps which won't run right on the main output. The extra inductance I believe cleans up the harmonics on the output waveform resulting in smoother operation with highly inductive loads like ac motors.

Just for reference, I paid right around $1750 for each Magnum PAE4840, or $3500 for the pair, plus another $320 for the 'router' that's required to make them shake-hands. So call it $4000. I considered the Aims 12,000 watt Split Phase, and I would have saved about $900, but the LBCO adjustment (in 'battery priority') only allows the voltage to go down to 42V (10.5 x 4), not low enough for a 48 V nominal lithium battery set up, although, would work, you're just leaving about 1/6th of your battery capacity on the table. When i spoke with AIM's engineering, I asked why they didn't have a digital controller that would allow you to make fine, broad adjustments and if I recall, the guy said they had plans for one. Does the digital display on your unit allow for anything more in the way of adjustments ? I'd consider one of these as a back up, esp now that I have a ton more solar up and could cover the 2+ Kwhs a day it takes just to keep this thing breathing :-) -- and 2 Kwhs may not even be true, depending on the results of your "upcoming test"... The modified sine will have trouble starting any inductive loads, such as motors, compressors, etc. Even if it does start, the motor/compressor is going to make noise and run hot. They will work perfectly fine for lights, anything with a switching power supply, etc. If you're going to invest, I would definitely recommend investing in the pure-sine - this is coming from someone who had to replace a LOT of hardware because of not buying the right stuff the first time around.

I have this inverter, and it's not working too well. The inverter cuts off the output every time the fans come on, when inverting and when charging. This results in interrupted power, and things like fridges never getting cold, because their compressors take a while to come back on. It wasn't always like this, it lasted about 2 years before it developed this fault. I can mitigate the issue a bit by having a fan blowing on it while it's inverting, so that way, the glitches are less often, but that doesn't seem to matter much when it's charging. Also the variable charging doesn't work anymore, as if I try to increase the charging speed, it goes into an endless cycles of fans on, fans off, fans on, fans off.... I live in Nigeria and can't send this back to the U.S for repairs. Please if anyone has any solutions to my problem, please let me know.

So basically whenever the cooling fans turn on, the inverter blanks out? You're saying "output goes off", but does the LCD on the top also go out (or indicate "off")? I'm half suspecting a failed cooling fan...when the inverter tries to turn the fans on, a damaged cooling fan shorts out the internal power supply, crashing the CPU, causing it to reset/turn off?

Good looking inverter transformer, but i don't see a sufficient high resistance coil windings a secret parts to feed up and regulate the needed amps of the primary output transformer it's not because it's big it will automatically produce the high amps no.. magic is not possible cause it needs a combination at least "2-3" main transformers, plus there is no seperated battery charger transformer going back to its battery input it's kind of power life cycle when idle, i believe it's not base on first and original inverter invention. Because of missing voltage regulator transformer the maximum output wattage and amps is only half when it's fully loaded and running with appliances. I can improve that inverter with no marketing fake 10kw but it will double the size of it's box, this is the most correct inverter only misi 1-2 main transformer depends on what you need still the best inverter seen on KZbin.

It's for a well pump when the main output is not powerful enough to start the pump. It is explained in the manual for the 12kW model. For some reason, they left it out of the 10kW inverter manual.

:( I just blow mine up. I was testing the ac 240 input using a generator 20 amp 4 leg. i connected the red black and ground. was working for a little bit then pow! a few of the transistors blow. i am thinking it had some to do with me messing with the dip switches while it was on. or because i did not have the battery leads on tight enough. what are your thoughts?
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar 6 жыл бұрын
OUCH! :( The manual doesn't say anything about the inverter needing to be off to flip the switches, but something just tells me that's a bad idea... Did the input hertz match the frequency switch? I don't have the input on mine connected.

my generator is a little bit flaky it may have output more then 240 v at some point during when i had it connected this may have been the cause. well i am getting new control boards to hopefully fix the issue

After I got my 10kw Aims I read the manual and the warranty is void if you use too small of a generator. I need 1.5 times the inverter output, so I need a 15kw generator. My generator is a 7.5kw so I have not hooked it up.

@@LithiumSolar Do an efficiency test on it, that transformer will get rather hot at full power, also measure the idle current no load.

What size fuses does it have?
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar 5 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have a fuse on the DC input. It's up you to choose your own fuse and wire it close to the battery. I used 225A Class T fuses by Blue Sea Systems on mine.
@Billblom
@Billblom 5 жыл бұрын
@@LithiumSolar sounds reasonable.. I was thinking about the fuses on the AC side of things. I saw one 8kw rated blue box that actually had a 20 amp fuse for the AC world.. which would mean that you had basically a 2,000 watt inverter if that was only on the 110 side.. If it was on the center tap of a BIG transformer, that would be only double the power: 4,000 watts.. which again is far less than the 8kw was supposed to supply. Details on these things is difficult to come by....
