Way better than average car sales person. Hope Toyota gives Steven a bonus for explaining the TSS system.

Thank you for that comment. I find there are alot of sales people who get to technical or who dont know themselves so they say nothing. Some hit a point or 2 and leave it there.

1 of the big safety features I like on my 2021 Highlander is when I am backing up and someone or something is approaching, the sensor will beep and it will show me with an arrow 'WHICH DIRECTION" they're coming from. Love that it does that. ❤

Steve, thanks for the excellent video. Watching it two years after you published it. In the process of looking to buy a 2023 Venza limited to replace my 2021 Mazda, six carbon edition. One of the main reasons is so that I have a very similar Safety electronic system to match my voice 2021 highlander platinum. One thing I really like about the Mazda is that the heads up display also shows the Blindspot monitor so that when some one is in my blind spot, I see it on the heads up display as well as on the appropriate mirror Wish that Toyota came out with that. Thanks again for your videos. I watched the one on blue print color and that has pretty well convinced me that that is the blue that I’ll get instead of the coastal gray, which is a gray blue only available on the Venza. I just wish your dealership was closer to Central Florida. Warm regards, Rudy.

On the intersection feature..besides detecting oncoming traffic before making a left hand turn..will it also detect cross traffic going left and right? Thanks.

This next phase of TSS 2.5+ brings the forward collision warning and automatic braking technology to a new level of accident avoidance by making it more proactive in its functionality. Beyond detecting the vehicle ahead, the system can also sense a preceding bicyclist or pedestrian in both daytime and low-light conditions. And at an intersection, the TSS 2.5+ will now detect an oncoming vehicle, bicyclist, or pedestrian during a left-hand turn and provide audio and visual alerts as well as perform automatic braking when necessary. The goal is to maximize a vehicle’s ability to avoid a collision that previously may have been deemed unavoidable. As before, adaptive cruise control is part of the TSS 2.5+ system, but now includes a new feature that allows for a more seamless and anticipatory approach in passing maneuvers. When approaching a slower vehicle from behind, the system automatically begins to accelerate once the driver engages the turn signal with steering input. The increase in speed readies the vehicle to confidently change lanes and overtake the vehicle in front, eliminating the delay in acceleration that typically plagues adaptive cruise control. After the lane change occurs, acceleration continues until the vehicle reaches the preset cruising speed. At that point, the driver can decide when to safely move back into the original lane or stay in the new lane

@@stevenwelchtoyota Thanks Steve..but I had already read what you just copied and pasted to me..and the reason I asked you the question is because that block of info didn't answer my question to you. Basically what I'm asking is will the intersection feature warn you of *front cross traffic* ..the way the rear cross traffic feature works? I live on a very busy street that people can merge on to very fast. It seems that no matter how quickly I turn my head left and right before getting on my cross street some speeding person is coming from either side and there have been a few close calls where I almost got hit. So I was hoping you could tell me if this intersection feature will detect *front cross traffic* before making a left turn or getting on a cross street. BMW has this feature..and here is a super short video showing what I mean at the 0:52 second mark: kzbin.info/www/bejne/amLacmmPm8xmjLs If you could let me know I'd appreciate it as I'm seriously considering the 2021 Toyota Highlander Platinum AWD Hybrid with your dealership. Thanks.

this is toyotas. PCS2 is designed to detect a vehicle or a pedestrian in either daytime or low-light situations, as well as daytime detection of a bicyclist. When a potential hazard is detected, it may provide audible and visual alerts, and automatic braking in certain conditions. TSS 2.5 and 2.5+ take PCS a step further with two additional functionalities: intersection support and emergency steering assist. At intersections, the system may detect an oncoming vehicle or pedestrian when performing a left-hand turn, as well as an oncoming pedestrian when performing a right-hand turn. Meanwhile, emergency steering assist is designed to help stabilize the vehicle when the driver initiates an emergency steering maneuver around an obstacle within their lane, reacting to a preceding pedestrian for TSS 2.5, as well as a preceding vehicle or bicyclist for 2.5+. Toyota has not listed a front cross traffic option and I dont believe it has it
