Someone else finally speaks up and doesn’t just say “oh but the execs” yes the execs suck and pushed out OW2 early and cut their losses with PvE, but the balance and dev team were the ones who abandoned OW1 for over 2 fucking years, they’re the ones who couldn’t balance double shield (even though it was mostly the immortalities that were the issue) they’re the ones who have been bending us over the counter and fucking us with every balance patch they come out with. The execs suck but my god the amount of people saying that they’re the reason the balance is so bad when it so clearly isn’t is astonishing

I'm so tired of all these fake-face masses that just wear whatever mask is emotionally convenient for them in any given situation. The execs are shit, but the dev team has not made any indication that they're any better themselves. If they were, OW2 wouldn't be in a worse spot than OW1 with comparable content.

@@Real_MisterSir people will never understand this, not because they’re too stupid, no some of them are but because they refuse to take a step back and actually look at why 5v5 doesn’t work and why overwatch 1 died in the first place, it died because the devs were too fucking stupid to fix double shield so instead of a nerf they remove one of the tank role and say “thats why queue times are so long no one wants to play tank” so instead of making the role more engaging and enjoyable they just remove one player entirely and now queue times are still in the same spot if not worse than they were and people will never admit that 6v6 was not the problem and was conceptually better in every way (almost like the balance team in that way) Overwatch 2 was killed before it even began because we saw how dogshit this balance team was and a lot of streamers were talking about how overwatch was back and the few who didn’t were villainized to fit the narrative and those who said something were proved right. The overwatch community will never accept that one simple fact, 5v5 is unbalanced not because the dev team is bad, don’t get me wrong they are fucking dogshit, but it’s the simple fact that there are no benefits to playing tank in a 5v5 setting, you cannot dive without your backline getting fucked, one shots ran the game for 2 seasons, support players are crybabies and get babied every fucking season, but the thing that ties it together is this dogshit dev team who cannot or will not address the actual problem, instead they put bandaid fixes or do stupid shit like add the support passive to everyone next season, why in the absolute fuck do they think that will fix anything? The problem has been immortalities since the beginning of ow2 and even towards the death of overwatch 1, this balance team needs to be fired and replaced with people who actually play their own game because at this point they are so damn stupid and instead of listening to good players or pros on how to make the game fun, i.e. make the skill heroes the most powerful if you play them well, they look at statistics of everyone even though that statistic is skewed because low ranked support players fucking suck ass because they walk into the enemy team or frontline like bots, and it’s not even just support players but low ranked players in general, but the main thing no one likes? The tank rock paper scissors game, holy shit it is so goddamn boring, he picks dva I go zarya, he goes hog or something, I go Junkerqueen to try to have fun? He goes Mauga or orisa or whatever boring tank is on the roster. Like I and many others have said 5v5 was not the way to go because it makes the game even more unbalanced and less competitive and less complex which is what made Overwatch fun in the first place. I and many others watched the game we fell in love with die because of these dogshit devs and balance team, but people will sing their praises because their bronze support games are easier because they were too dogshit to learn how to play their hero in the actual way you play them and anyone who’s halfway decent suffers for it.

As someone who has gone through the same, most of this can be predicted and I'm sorry to say it but the sooner people realize these industries are built on money, not feelings, the better. It didn't use to be this way, it used to be that publishers and investors in the gaming industry were here out of passion first, money second. That hasn't been the case for a good 10 years or more now. Again, I'm sorry for them on a personal level, but from a business and game dev perspective they've been doing a bad job for years (not individually, but as a collective). I'm used to seeing passionate people get used and abused by the industry they're in. At the end of the day there is no such thing as job security, unless you're good enough and brave enough to start your own thing. If we truly want to fantasize about the industry and pretend people aren't anything but numbers on spread sheets that's cool and all, but it's detached from reality. Again, on a personal level I wish them well and I want them to do good for themselves and have stability and security in their life, but changes come and go, and this layoff run was inevitable and anyone with an inch of understanding would have seen it coming the moment MS and ActiBlizz signed the agreement.
