Did he accidentally put a event horizon inside himself? The statement: "It's in me." and "My leg is still on?" Gave me a image that even though he should have died, he didn't. What's worse, he's conscious during the entire ordeal. I have the feeling that during the incident he managed to see the inside of a blackhole. Seeing the infinite and how small and desolate he is inside it. I think a part of him was left in there and that part is begging to be let out. It reminds of that tesseract scene in interstellar...fuck that's maddening.

I am dutch, and I cannot get enough over the fact how well Sigma encases his Dutch heritage. It sounds odd, when he is absolutely mad, but his character and demeanor is all very dutch, his origin makes so much sense to his in game attitude. He is absolutely brilliant and smart, realizes Talon manipulates him and he managed to stay calm and act on one part of him. My theory on this, is that (( the black hole he created on accident, although small, sucked a part of him into itself, so basically what I think happened is that the black hole exchanged a part of itself with a part of Siebren (his real name). And after this, it somehow went lose or evaporated and this part of the blackhole is in his head, still in connection with the original black hole, where he can hear a part of him going mad being all alone in nothingness. It has shown that an unlighted room with nothing in it, and absolutely no one doing anything in it, can drive someone crazy. So basically, this man, obtained part of the powers of a blackhole but is constantly anxious because he cannot seem to feel a leg or both legs, reasonable explanation why he is floating. I think this is the part that got sucked in, together with a part of his conscious. So to say in theory, I think he split in two, and he is basically so anxious because he doesn't feel whole and at the same time can feel his other part going mad about the power the blackhole is showing him, in turn connected to him. So this man somehow obtained split personalities that he did not cause himself. Aside of this raging in his head, Talon enforced manipulation techniques on the man, let's presume this is with some sort of brain machine, which somehow made his split personality (the one in the blackhole) convinced to act on Talon's ideas. And his other personality (in his body) is succumbing to this because he knows he might not have other options, and wants to keep as much sanity as possible, quietly keeping it together, and letting his brilliancy be used and not let both personalities go against each other, whilst also having this quiet melody of the fragmented blackhole in his head. )) This is my diagnosis, I would say the man needs medication to keep himself calm, for the melody in his head, and also a partnering medication to help his new split personalities stay calm. I would also recommend therapy to rationalize both personalities and make sure they work in harmony and can vent, since his new power can be destructive. * Edit, having revisited Sygma's psyche, it is also safe to assume to keep his mind busy with things resolving around puzzle like structures, it may induce teamwork from the personalities, but it should be carefully monitored, his blackhole personality is unhinged, who knows what could happen if it were to gain any power. He would need to be under heavy medication, the partnering formula earlier mentioned should do its purpose well. Under heavy medication, rehabilitation among likeminded geniuses or likeminded personalities may be in order. There is a very slight chance that after rehabilitation, he may be more stable, for visits from guests/family. The likelihood of sygma being full rehabilitated is slight to none, he may likely spend his days in a center, where nurses and medical staff will care for him. I'm truly sorry for him.

With the advent of Overwatch 2 and new voice lines, I feel like we learned more about Sigma. The main thing I'm thinking of is that, as a result of whatever happened, he can now perceive reality on a higher level than normal people (this much was known already). But his interactions with Zenyatta suggest what happened to him is in a way akin to an involuntary or imperfect transcendence or enlightenment, as we know that Zenyatta has attained enlightenment and now perceives the world differently from others and can perceive "the Iris". And there's an interaction between the two where Sigma wonders out loud how Zenyatta can float, to which Zenyatta replies that "I owe my gifts to the Iris." And Sigma's response is "Ooooh, the Iris. Of course! We've met." Some people take this as just Sigma being crazy and not knowing what he's talking about, but I don't think that's the case.

What if sigma screaming 'MY LEG IS STILL ON' and the fact that he floats in game is blizzard telling us that the black hole in his brain caused so much damage to his cerebral cortex that he's been paralysed, or at least lost most if not all feeling below his body, letting him move his legs slightly, but being unable to position them correctly or feel them at all. His ambient dance could also be a hint since he just shakes his legs in the air like he's got pins and needles, instead of coming down from the his field. Even when he sits down to relax, he keeps the rocks he rests on floating in the air, maybe making it easier to simply slide off when there's work to be done. Just a thought

This is the first time I saw the trailer backwards 3 years later. It reveals so much about him. The melody is what grounds Sigma in his psyche, much like gravity grounds people to their world. The experience with the black hole split sigma in more than just multiple personality disorder, he's experiencing all versions of himself at the same time. Forwards, backwards, death, life. This is why he sees it all as an illusion. He has no up or down anymore. No gravity, the thing he devoted himself to. And to, "harness the harness" a life needs to be used. Original Sigma is now the harness that is harnessing the black hole, while "new, bad Sigma" is the one in the power armor and in control. Just a theory. 1:00 Mmmm... Now the Melody is a harness? 1:15 "It's in me." So, maybe when he did the thing or "peered into the blackhole" or whatever happened, something came out and went into him? Maybe lends more to the "bad, new Sigma being created" theory.

Many think that Sigma's legs backward message might not be a legit one. However, think about it. If you traveled towards the singularity, your whole body would stretch out. It might be possible his body might have stretched so far that he can't feel his legs anymore. That might be the reason why he is wondering if his legs are still on.

I believe Sigma's perception of time was warped by the black hole at least temporarily. It would make the reversed audio and the constant jumping forwards and backwards in time in the original video make sense. The melody could also be something he hears in the future leaking its way into the present.

It almost seems like he got stuck in a time warp for messing with a black hole and he is trying to get out, but an evil version of him won’t let him.

My guess is that his mind was stuck in that black hole(since time is a lot slower when you get closer to a black hole, so maybe in those few seconds when it all went wrong in his experiments, from his perspective decades passed in his mind maybe) like some sort of solitary confinement. All i can say is that isolation changes people, most likely for the worse ever possibility (with enough time with your thoughts). So when he says he has to "keep it together", that would be something that somebody that has been in stuck in solitary confinement for a long time would repeat to themselves so they dont lose their minds or their sanity, Probrably.

The Dutch at the end “free me” this is by far the greatest lore and background for any overwatch character. And I feel really bad like when he’s saying all this stuff, he wasn’t a bad person and now he’s manipulated by talon and he doesn’t even know it. Overwatch cooked with his background and lore and just well done, best origin story aswell

Both Blizzard and Sigma's voice actor have done an awesome job putting all these messages all over the video

Every time I watch sigmas origin story I get goosebumps and a little teary eyed, it's just so heartbreaking hearing the fear in his voice. Absolutely the best origin story in overwatch and I hope that Blizzard gives a lot more lore on him in overwatch 2.
