Hi Brad, I'm very glad to say you that your videos are very easy to understand. I was trying to skip JavaScript from years, but your JavaScript tutorial in Udemy has helped me to learn and understand JavaScript very easily. Your videos has helped me in getting a full-time job in IT industry. I have also bought all your courses in udemy. It's very rare to find a person like you now a days who shares knowledge. It definitley is. When I started, it was html/css with some basic server rendered pages and a MySQL DB. Obviously web apps are much more powerful now and getting better everyday, but I do miss the simplicity. I could not imagine what it is like to break into this world these days. I am constantly around people that infer that I must be a really smart person because of the time I spend studying, and I feel like a mean person because I find this irritating rather than flattering. So much truth in what you say. I could have had years of experience by now, but because of so many technologies related to just any language, I feel overwhelmed many times and quit learning software development. The only reason I kept coming back was, because I really enjoy building stuff. Now I broke through that overwhelming barrier, and I am doing good. But, I am sure there are many people out there still stuck because they do not know what path to follow.

Normally When I see a job description (in places like LinkedIn or indeed), I instantly get scared by the amount of requisites you need in order to apply any particular offer... and finally because of that I don’t make the subsequent request (so they are even losing potential candidates). I think you need to be more realistic about the necessary skills you need for a candidate to have, and don’t just write a complete list of technologies (many times I see companies looking for candidates with strong knowledge in several js frameworks simultaneously (which in my opinion it’s absolutely ridiculous), + mobile + UI design + AWS + Containerization + several languages + some Backend...). Do they know the amount of time + effort you need to learn all those things proficiently?? I don’t know about you guys but at the same time, I continuously receive job offers that have nothing to do with my current set of skills (for example, senior job offers with 5+ years of experience while I am a junior profile etc), so My intuition suggests me that a lot of IT recruiters don’t even read the profile of the candidates, which inevitably conducts to a flagrant lack of professionalism among other negative things... BTW thank you brad for these videos and Regards from Spain.

Its hard to trust a resume tbh. Several developers we've hired in the last year had good looking resumes, even interviewed well, but couldn't perform on the job. All were Indian but we can't find anyone else to apply. Maybe it's because of the packed requirements. I don't like it but I don't get to post the jobs, just say what skills I need for my teams. By the time it gets through management they've heard from several teams all wanting different things, so the list of skills has swollen to include them all. HR doesn't have a clue what any of it is and posts 3 jobs looking for what is impossible. What we really need is 3 people with 3 different sets of skills that shouod be no problem. You see a posting looking for 1 person that's capable of doing everything. Dont be scared off. Apply.

New technologies never frustrate me. I know what I languages I want to learn and what end I want to be in, but what frustrate me is the things that I need to memorize to get the code going and make logic out of it. I know the logic, I can do it in my head all the time. It's just there are so many things that I need to memorize to put those logical thoughts into a correct working code. That's the only thing that frustrates me and is holding me back from becoming a developer. I know it comes with more practice, but there are so many things (very critical for the code) that I have to memorize. I've been doing ok with Google searching things, but I'd love to, one day, be able to just write my code without a lot of search. I don't know if I'm making sense.

One of our dev team leaders was showing a ppt about a project they're working on for us. I suspect one of the main reasons it's tough to believe you don't need to learn everything is when you're still looking for work, not knowing which company will hire you. Since every company uses different technologies, how do you overcome that? Once you know which company is going to hire you, then it would make it possible to know exactly which technologies to learn.

Honestly, it feels like there is so much to learn and something new comes out every day because of the nature of the Javascript ecosystem. Unlike other languages, the Javascript ecosystem is 100% driven by the community. There is no standard way to write Javascript, no "right" way to do things. Everything changes all the time. Other languages don't change as quickly. There is more guidance from the teams maintaining other languages on how to do things "the right way", standard tools and rules for linting, typing built right into the language, etc. In Javascript, everything has to be "taped on".

I've been swapping from mobile development to web development and vice versa till i became depressed. The problem for me is that once i start to learn a technology i automatically start telling myself things like " what if i got stuck in the middle of the path and couldn't finish the technology?" "what if someone comes to me and asked me to make him/her an application that I don't know how to build?" stuff like that.

This video has become really helpful for me to decide what I need to learn next. I have been a PHP developer since last 8 years and recently started studying Vue JS. So next thing I am going to Learn is Laravel as its perfect combination with Vue JS :)

Laravel is kind to React too, as the integration is straightforward, thanks to its feature named Mix. I have just coded in PHP for a couple of months; after doing research on php frameworks, I picked Laravel. YII 2 is the other option, but integration with React is not straightforward and I wasn't successful when trying to do that. So your pick on Laravel is right, especially considering your long time experience in PHP.

Yes. It's simple. Whatever you feel comfortable to use, go with it. I liked vue because it comes bundled with laravel. Plus before learning laravel, I learned vue and never knew it comes bundled with laravel till I started studying laravel haha.

I came up with that concern as a young freelancer in webdev, in my point of view and experience, it's better to be very good at a bunch of tech rather that knowing general stuff about everyone of them. For now i work only with few technologies : - A Flat-file symfony based CMS (Grav CMS) which is really underrated for small project in my opinion... - Sass, tweenMax (Greensock), Bulma.css to build a layout quickly. Also i'm learning about Gatsby.js and React my goal is to find a good Headless CMS and suggest this new development method to my clients. But i won't learrn Angular, Vue or React native, i'd take too much time for nothing.

Love your videos. Any chance you could do a video on the whole process of designing a website starting with the idea of said page to the research process, dealing with bugs and errors and finally a finished product. I am finding as a new developer that the process as a whole is overwhelming and it would be useful to have a rough outline of the process. Thanks
