My favorite part of this movie was the ending where we see a flashback to the first day that emma and dex spent together, because the whole movie you get this idea that perhaps emma loves dex more than he loves and appreciates her but in the flashback scene at the end you just truly see the emotion and love in Dex's eyes and even when he ran back to get her phone number - in that scene you realise that dex felt the same way about emma from the very beginning as well!

As someone who read this book, not knowing anything other than the blurb, for it to go that way at the end, stirred up a very real, very passionate anger and sadness. Because of that, I can't watch the movie without sobbing at least once and why it's become my favourite book. Thanks for making this though, I love all their moments collided together with beautiful music in the background 😊👍

This movie was heartbreaking, even more in a sense where I could apply it somehow to myself. And yes, I'm the Dexter in this story and I remained clueless way too long. There was this guy I've met, I was like 16, and I know people will say I was young but I don't care really. Those years made everything so much easier, and we became friends in the day that we've met. We kept walking through the streets, talking about bullshit, having pillow fights, eating kebab in the middle of the night, drinking by the river. I was, of course, the hot chick in the school, I had all the hottest guys, and I had him as my best friend. Before summer break, he confessed, and then he promptly blocked me on all social media, my phone number, everything. It's not that I said no, I just cried and left. I was in pain, but dumb enough not to realize. Next year he has a girlfriend, and I hated her with all my power but couldn't say anything. We began hanging out as if nothing happened, but of course it was weird. I could feel it wasn't over, but I still didn't say anything. When it was my birthday, he came to me, brought gifts and stuff, and we hugged in the hallway, and I almost thought he was going to kiss me but we didn't do anything. Turns out his girlfriend saw us and they had a huge fight because she knew. We kept being close but it was almost like I knew, whatever he felt, he will never again show. And what I felt, I thought I wasn't allowed to say ever. So we said goodbye like that, he still had a girlfriend, and we left to different universities. Saw each other some years later, he still had the same shine in his eyes when looking at me, and I knew most of things stayed the same for me too. But we only had a day before going back to our regular lives, so we just talked and walked and pretty much lost contact after that day. We don't really talk at all anymore. We will see each other most probably this year again, and I think nothing will change again. I don't even know if I want it to change. I've had countless relationships, but whenever I talk about love, he's the one that comes to mind.

you only live once and if you don't live it with the person that you love the most, then whats the point of it all? give this a shot and allow yourself to feel happy. put down all your barriers, set your ego aside and tell him how you truly feel. whatever happens will be better than being 80 and thinking, "what if?"

I hope you realize the rarity of what you’re speaking of. You will have regrets that will stay with you. In particular if the friendship isn’t what it was then you owe it to both yourselves to speak up. The worst thing he could say is no. Then you move on knowing you tried. Ask him if he’d give you both the chance to see if this could really be something? I screwed up with a boy when I was 14. We stayed friends for yrs after but I never stopped wanting another chance. I however knew he didn’t feel anything like that for me anymore. I still think of it and wish it could’ve been different but ffs I was 14 and scared of being vulnerable. I accept that. You however have a much different story. My guy and I lost touch and he was married in 2020. Still a great guy but it wasn’t meant to be. Even if the relationship is 💩 it’s worth knowing. I hope you give yourself credit and be bold.

Emma is so much like his mom. The way she nudges him with her leg, tge same way Dexter's mom did. How she told him not to "change his voice" while he was hitting that TV show. Even their sarcasm. Then their elegance. Oh how I love this parallel.

Gah! I remember reading this book and falling in love with each of these characters and being so, so sad at the ending. I didn't want to watch the movie because I knew it would break my heart all over again...but those 2 odd hours we got to see them grow - with each other and apart- were so special. I'm so glad these two were chosen to play these roles. Lovely video that brought back some pleasant memories. Off to find my copy of this book and re-read!! Thanks for sharing, xx

This movie is about the journey. It's about the things you learned during those 20 years. How you have grown so much because of that one person. It shows the person all of their flaws during the 20 years but they still found their way back to each other. The point of her dyeing in the movie is to show that her life wasn't wasted. She made someone's life better. And that was probably her purpose on earth.

Its life bro. Its supposed to be that way. Its meant to question everything you've done and are doing. And if i might break your bubble, most of the times, it doesnt even make sense. It's all pointless and temporary. But i guess thats where the true beauty of it all lies. The madness and absurdity of it all. Its not the make believe happy endings or lifelong dreams coming true that makes life special. Its the pain and the suffering and the constant question of existentialism that makes it real. It ignites a fire in us that burns untill the day we die while the sparks carry on way beyond death. Its mad i know, but some things only feel good because the other things sometimes make u want to take your own life.

Real life vs reel life. Movies are depicting fantasies. Reality is far far from these kind of movies.

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. Also, most people are pretty much comfortable enough to be naked around someone and have sex with someone that they have no romantic feelings towards. So sex isn't really a thing about romance. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner is. Also, you would more likely be much closer to a person who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

Also, there are a lot of toxic romantic relationships, while there isn't that many toxic platonic relationships. Like an example is that abuse happens a lot in romantic relationships, while abuse is rare in platonic relationships. So there is a lot of abusive romantic relationships, while there is isn't that many abusive platonic relationships. Why do you think abusive romantic relationships have a term for them called "domestic violence", while abusive platonic relationships don't have a term for them? It's because abuse in platonic relationships are very rare, while abuse in romantic relationships happens a lot. And also, a lot of people cheat on their romantic partners with someone else, while most people won't do stuff like that with their platonic best friends. Also, I heard that most people can live a life without romance and can still be happy. But most of the time, if someone doesn't have any platonic friends in their life, it can effect them really bad mentally; much worse than living a life without a romantic partner. In today's world, less people are dating and getting married now, and they seem to be more happy being single rather than being in romantic relationship with someone. Also, you're going to have a much deeper spoken understanding and connection with your best friend than you are with a romantic partner or spouse. So those are other reasons why romantic love isn't real or special, while platonic love is.
