Hawkman Actually, it's not true. This was recorded in 1976. I don't know how about drinking, but Freddie didn't didn't start smoking until 1980. Plus, he was, like, 30 at the time of the record, so even if he was a heavy drinker (which I'm pretty sure he was NOT), I'd take an enormous amount of abusing alcohol to damage the voice at that age, thus making it pretty impossible. He did, however, develop voice nodules, which gave him a hard time singing live, but that didn't start to show up until 1977/78.

Pure natural untrained gift from birth. Open throat technique by nature or nurture. Either way want to sing like Freddy? Learn open throat technique and practice 2-3 hours a day 5-6 days a week for 3 years minimum and you'll be as close as your genetics will allow.

For most of queen's choral arrangements, the low parts are Brian May and the high parts are Roger Taylor. Freddie still kicks ass in the midrange though.

Most choral arrangements in queen's songs are just Freddie. The intro to Bohemian Rhapsody is entirely sung by him, even though the video shows the whole band singing, it's Freddy on multiple vocal tracks.

contraire to what a lot of people think, auto tune is not used to fix the voice; it's actually used to erase some of the noises that can be found sometimes in the audio (white noise) and irregularities in the music. so yes, freddie, as many other artists, used autotune.
@ernestokrapf5 жыл бұрын
there were no autotune-alike tools 'til the late 90-2000s autotune is a tool to make pitch correction and making vocal effects but I (as a producer) don't recommend using autotune to make pitch corrections, the best tool is melodyne

I am a big fan of Queen's music and Freddie Mercury, don't get me wrong...But all those people telling US that there's never gonna be anyone like him is pissing me off...of course, in terms of personality/character every person is a unique one, but in terms talent I don't think you can say such things. @ghosthead200810 жыл бұрын
Jip Boersma Yeah, there is, but those people will never "make it", because music today isn't about being "talented". It's about "marketability". 3:55 - 4:03 THIS PART! always // suddenly, i remember the audience in the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert ("Somebody To Love" performance by Queen + George Michael) in 1992, and how they tried to sing that particular line in the same way as how Freddie did it. what a moment! ❤

@nothanks10667 жыл бұрын
People have been using autotune for way longer than you'd like to believe. T pain bought it to everyones attention because he used it balls to the wall 'this is a sound in itself', but seriously man you'd be surprised how invisible it can be made by a skilled hand.

Plenty of amazing artists dont use autotune in our generation of music. Why is this always a thing people say? Talent hasnt died...
@GaryMillyz5 жыл бұрын
@@selty No, talent has obviously not died. But what people really mean is that back then, there simply was no autotune, so you are definitely hearing the real thing. Today, no matter how incredible the vocalist is, they absolutely, in almost all cases, use a certain amount of autotune. It's available, and it's used. So unless a live performance, there will most definitely be a certain amount of autotune involved, thus a less than pure performance.

Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest singers of all time hands down. He's a Rock 'N' Roll singer with an Opera like voice, his voice is just beautiful. Much love to Freddie, he was misunderstood in his days but everybody came to love him because no matter what, he was a good person and he loved his fans and his friends and family, he pushed himself to do shows and appearances even when he had aids and was slowly passing away because he loved his fans. R.I.P. Freddie, we love you.

Wow, so much amazing soul. A master of his voice. So much strength. This video is drop jaw amazing. I have to sing along and then find myself in disbelief as he powers away and hits a run of high notes. Like a Russian Mig trying to chase an SR-71. "WTF?" I can imagine the recording engineers just being blown away by what they were hearing through the monitors. I've got goosebumps all over me.

This was one of Freddie’s favorite songs, ode to Aretha Franklin, one of Freddie’s favorite singers. Brian May said if Freddie could have been Aretha, he would have. Another one of Freddie’s favorite songs is Dragon Attack, another great disco inspired song over-shadowed by Another One Bites The Dust, on the same album. The live video of Freddie singing Dragon Attack really shows him getting into the beat, only wearing tight pants and nothing else. He definitely had the moves. Luv u Freddie!
