If you bought this game on release yesterday, be sure to check for the update file. I played the first two hours with a shedload of left hand glitches and some janky visuals. Stopped for a snack and to charge my controllers... and when I came back it announced it was installing an update. Went back in - HUGE difference. Seems really weird that it didn't just update itself right away. But honestly, it was a totally different experience so do make sure you've got that patch installed. it's ooooookay without the patch, but really awesome with it.

Interesting. I was disappointed with janky hands and low poly textures upon playing 1st hr immediately after release so will try the updated version.

@@agentshillbot Yeah, the hand thing was driving me nuts. After the update, though, it was like the difference between night and day. I mean... not a cloudless day in the Bahamas... but definitely a respectable spring day in the English countryside. ;-)

@alexblanco2504 thanks for posting this. the patch made a HUGE difference and was supposed to be out 2 days earlier - which is why I delayed my review to make sure I wasn't complaining about things that had already been fixed! :D

@@WithoutParole Thanks for all the great reviews - have only ever once not enjoyed a game you recommended. (Don't hate me... it's Ancient Dungeon. I loved the way it looked and felt, but for some reason I seemed to make it about 20 steps in that damn basement before getting killed! I even revisited it recently... but only quick and frustrating death awaited me in that there dungeon. ;-)

Backtracking, opening locked doors to progress, item management, and spooky atmosphere, this is something I can't wait to get into. The story usually falls by the wayside in these types of games for me. The mansion looks like a place I am going to love being in, much like the Baker mansion. After a while, I start longing to just be in the Baker mansion, it kinda felt like a second home. Thanks for the excellent review as always, Bryan. Very much looking forward to playing this one.

Hey, back in the psvr1 days i used to follow this channel religiously and then i got distracted for a while.. however happy to say i recently got a psvr2! I'm one of those nerds that actually *likes* a puzzle game for which you need a pencil and paper to solve. I still have at least a dozen pages of A4 covered in doodles from my time spent with The Witness. If someone could develop a really effective way for us to actually use an in-game, VRAF way to take notes (better than, say, LA Noire VR, lol) I think it could lead to some interesting VR puzzle play. Anyway. Great review. I'll definitely be picking this one up.

I'm down for pencil and paper (and absolutely loved The Witness) --- but yeah you'd need an in-game notepad for that to happen in VR. Which I'd enjoy thoroughly :D

Organ Quarter had an interesting way to take notes on your in-game map. It was VRAF.

Yup, just purchqsed it. I also just beat vertigo 2, so a little puzzle horror is a nice break from the crazy sci fi adventure i just went through lol

@@grahamkelly8662 the gameplay and story is really awesome. It has new game plus and good replayability. When you beat the game you unlock different characters with different powers and/or traits which gives you good reason to jump back in. There are modifications if you wanna have a whacky time like god mode, infinite ammo, super speed, double the enemies and more. There are 6 awesome secret weapons to find and cool upgrades for your regular weapons…. One of the secret weapons is called the “Gordle gun” which is just essentially the “portal gun” from the game “Portal”………….now for the bad, it can be buggy. Ive died often and revived with missing weapons, ive died and revived in areas where im falling through the map and when that happens you have to load a save back sometimes 2 or 3 checkpoints and do it all over. It has framerate stutter in certain parts of the game that are quite laggy… it can ve a bit buggy unfortunately

But you can feel the Soul of the developers, and some scenes are so unique I will probably never forget them. I just beat the tree boss, it was so much fun... if you're good at vr shooters start with a higher difficulty than normal tho, I play on normal and after some Upgrades for my weapons I just blast my way through like crazy

It turns out that making horror stories or horror VR games is such a trend. After all, if we look at it this way, we can quite often see this genre for VR. Is the idea of making an adventure game like Uncharted or even the same Last of Us in VR not feasible? It’s like everything is zombies and screamers. I would like something similar, lighter, not scary, adventurous, of high quality.

Cheap and easy to make, not many gameplay mechanics to craft, probably a million assets to buy, a thousand other crappy horror games to copy. Make a house and put a few edgy things in it. It ain't exactly Ridge Racer.

Unity pushed an update the developer wanted to implement into the game before it launched. Should just be a few more weeks with better graphics.

Disable the 120Hz output mode by navigating to Settings, choosing 'Screen and Video,' then selecting 'Video Output.' From there, turn off the 120Hz output by deselecting 'Enable 120Hz Output.'

@@Esclar55 Thanks for this, you got me going in the right direction. You have the right idea but wrong solution. The "Screen and Video" option is for the output to your TV. You need to turn off this setting instead: Settings/Accessories/Playstation VR2/Video output/Output 120hz video to VR headset (turn OFF). That did the trick for me.

The developers of this game have a slightly peculiar policy. They are silent about the PKVR release, although it seemed like it was planned for March 29, but it turns out that some kind of unspoken order was received to them and they have no choice but to follow it. At least this is the impression, because there is no specific/accurate information why the game has only been released on Psvr2 so far.

The same people that look forward to madison vr complaining about not getting weapons or fighting in this game are gonna be double disappointed when they find out madison aint a fighting game with weapons either. Lol most horror games you dont get weapons. And i dont mean zombie games like Resident Evil, propagation Hotel, and Arizona Sunshine. Those are hardly horror.

But horror and weapons is way way way way way more fun then just puzzles and no action. Also, another thing to destroy your logic Why is there puzzles in a horror game? What horror movies have puzzles? Fair enough for not having guns but how about make it actually scary, being hunted down and not having to go around solving puzzles. It’s fine that you and many others love horror games that are just puzzle and no action but many others don’t.

I think it's the scripted antagonist and no combat. Madison doesn't technically have "gun combat" but you do have a way to defend yourself and the antagonist is much more unpredictable. Don't want to touch spoilers but I think people will easily see the differences between this and Madison.
