Tekiya means "sanctuary" in Turkish language. Since "Shah Mir" dynasty was of Turkik origin, the name and purpose is still the same in modern Turkey/Morroco and old Kashmir. There are still about about 20 such sanctuaries in Chefchaouen Morroco that belong to various sufi orders. Many Tekiye's are still found in Istanbul and other Turkish cities/towns/villages.
