good luck trying to repair those duration shingles, if any repairs need to be made it is really hard to remove those shingles without damaging the shingles around them, you'll be better off replacing the entire roof section where the repair is located at, certainteed landmark and iko dynasty are better options, the iko dynasty also have a patented tape in the shingles better to the surenail oc crap.

If shingles are delivered and stored for over 10 days at 120 degree F on roof (Tampa FL), will it affect sealant ?

I did get 27 years out of relativly thin Tamco fiberglass, which I think are only rated at 20 year..they did start to get cracked, dried out, only had one blow off, but that said, it's well past it's prime, and rated service life, now with new Owens Harbor Fog Duration premium cool, should outlast me...50 year shingles 20 year no leak guarantee....look great, thick, well made stuff

Malarkey shingles have 2inch nail zone and they're also patented.

Thanks for the information. Do you have a video (or photo) of the house in Pacific Wave or Estate Gray? I'm trying to decide color to go with since I finally found a trustworthy contractor here jn FL. Thanks for any help. Do you think either color would look well with a dark green like hunter green?

You should be able to contact a roofing supply company in your area who sells Owens Corning Products and ask them for a few addresses in your area. They deliver the materials to the job sites and should have what you need.

The Oakridge design is so thin they are tearing off my building. The steep slope roof = gravity and it is tearing right through the nail holes and separating after only a few years. Of course Owens Corning blamed the installation and said more nails and additional roofing cement should have been added on installation. Maybe a rubber membrane should have been installed over the whole thing to protect the shingles. A lifetime warranty that's not worth the piece of paper it's written on. I will keep my fingers crossed that the CEO's new boat comes with a new improved thin dual layer bottom.

they are correct blame the installer. on a steep slope roof you need to add cement to hold the shingles .

Owens Corning is absolutely correct......read the instructions! It has a nail pattern for all slopes and if your contractor did not install properly then YES IT WILL NOT HOLD...I am sure upon inspection the installer did not hit the desired nail line and thus they will come off. Use these Duration and you would have to be an idiot to miss the nylon nail line.

He is talking about the duration series in the video. Sounds like you cheaped out and hired the lowest bid. You deserved it. You get what you pay for

There is a nail line on the oakridge..... I'm sure that your installer did not nail properly and probably got too far above the little blue line therefore yeah it's going to blow through also your installer needs to set the air in the gun so it doesn't blow the nail to Hard

Great Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Taparton Incredible Cure Takeover (search on google)? It is a good exclusive product for Curing Shingles minus the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend Sam finally got great results with it.

Disagree. I had the Duration Teak shingles professional installed. After 5 months they are cracking, dropping granules, and tearing and not sealing. Not impressed and disagree.

If you are experiencing this type of failure after only 5 months, you're likely to have a warranty issue. You should contact the roofer who installed it and/or Owens Corning and notify them you would like to make a claim for a defective shingle. Hopefully the roofer who installed them is licensed and installed them in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Talk about the fillers in the asphalt. Talk about the blistering. If the tape is so good, why does it only match the blow off speeds of other shingles. Owens Corning shingles are the favorite shingle of "storm chasers" everywhere.
