I've been sober and out of jail/prison coming up on 14 years. I know we would have clicked if we were in same pod. We have same values, morals and are both intelligent. I’ve never been to prison, so my 2 cents might be pesos, but criminals locked up are still people, a lot of the time being up front is still gonna be your best move I’d thing. If you can’t pay a guy back on time, don’t wait for him to find you, track him down and talk to him. With me, when I got debts out I’m gonna look much more harshly on the guy if I gotta track him down. If he comes to me and says he can’t pay yet, so long as it’s not real old, I’ll let the debt rest for a time or 2. Long story short be transparent, don’t let them think you’re ducking.

Inmate Attorneys lol! so how can I support someone in whatever form be it food or cash etc. safely? nothing nefarious .. just to help a brother out? I don't now but I had a friend in prison and he would tell me stories about trading "soups" aka Ramen noodles etc. I would send him like 5-10 every now and then figuring it was the safest/ most versatile way to help him out.. if I remember, I think they had cards or something too but I don't recall
