Great video, NL! I think part of your early struggles is just not taking high value symbols because you feel like you don't have enough synergy with them. You passed on the Card Shark when you were taking other two gold payouts very recently. You even passed on Moon because you didn't know if you could build around it, but felt okay about taking Honey which is the exact same payout but without synergies (synergizes with bears of course, but it's not like you had them). Still a great video, though. Thanks for the content!

I have calculated that the reroll item for the die suck. A 5 dice averages a value of 3, because there are 5 possible outcomes, namely 1 to 5 and that averages 3. The reroll makes it so there are 13 possible outcomes, namely 5, 4, 3 (3 outcomes), 2 that rerolls into 1 to 5 (5 outcomes), 1 that rerolls into 1 to 5 (5 outcomes), so 13 outcomes. When you add all the possible values, you get 42: (1+2+3+4+5)*2+3+4+5= 15*2+12= 30+12= 42. Then divide the total value by the number of outcomes to get the average value: 42/13= 3.231etc. So it gives about 0.231 extra each spin. However, now that I think about it, I think this is incorrect, because rolling a 5 the first roll is more likely than first rolling a 2 and then a five. So to correct for that, we will imagine to roll the dice 25 times. It will land 5 times on 1 to 5 each. If 1 or 2 is rolled, it will reroll into 1 to 5 once. For 25 rolls, the total value is (5*5+5*4+5*3+5+4+3+2+1+5+4+3+2+1=) 90. So the total value is 90 in 25 rolls, which is an average value of 3.6 per roll. Thus, the reroll item increases the roll per turn with 0.6. That is worse than a pool ball. HOWEVER!! This is per dice! So if you would have 5 die, that would give a surplus value of 3 per turn. HOWEVEEERRR! Nobody gets 5 die. The end.

So, this isn't quite right. What it essentially does is turn the 1 and 2 roll into more "3s" because the reroll averages 3. So the actual average goes from (5+4+3+2+1)/5 = 3 to (5+4+3+3+3)/5 = 3.6

Early on, I find it's a good strategy to take something almost every spin, but to try and make sure it's something you can remove later (beer, candy, key, etc.). If none of of those are available, then take something that can do the removing.

Beer seems to be the best out of those since with the correct items (dwarf anvil and anthropology degree) dwarves become 4 gold symbols on their own and alcohol pays better than candy

@@ilmastointi_kanava Not necessarily, it's not about doing those builds long term, but consistency in using them to buy time to allow you to make a better build. Yes, alcohol has a higher base pay per symbol, and an item to increase alcohol payout, but candy has pinatas which give 5 candy each, and an item that increases candy payout. Meaning candy is more likely to show up and thusly has a higher chance to get double, triple, etc consumed with similar payout to alcohol once scaled. Additionally, other symbols, like diver are really consistent and scale really well, especially with the fact that you can have oysters constantly generate tons of consumables for the diver. They are all almost equal in terms of reliability.

@@john_titor1 Good points. However, you'll get to 777 easily if all your symbols pay for 4 gold, so the dwarves - with the correct items - won't be a hinderance at all and you'll only need to focus on making your other symbols better.

Early game is much easier with the symbols that destroy each other for big payoffs, like you said, and are a great way to launch yourself to a better build. However, Mouse, bear and monkey are some of the worst for this goal, as they do not scale well without very specific items, and are not easily destroyed, unlike humanoids (dwarf, child, mrs fruit, diver, archeologist, etc). That's why i think it's best to take alcohols and dwarves, candy and children, and if desperate, mrs fruit, diver, archeologist destroyables. Bears are almost never worth taking unless going for a bear/animal build (especially since honey is so rare). Similarly, mice and monkeys are also fairly hard to work around unless you are going for specific builds, tho they are often easier to work with than the bear. I think that's the best way to play. Early game, get those destroyable payouts (dwarf-alcohol, child-candy, key-lockbox, etc). This should give you enough money to last long enough to be able to focus on a stronger scaling build. By a few payments in, you should have at least some items/symbols that you can lean into for a pivot, and once you get that pivot going, can destroy the old symbols that are now clogging up your reel, like general zaroff if you have a lot of humans. Ideally, though, you shouldnt have too much clog unless you get unlucky, but hopefully, by choosing those easier to work with payouts, you can better deal with said clog, i.e. having both children and dwarves, you can get one zaroff to eliminate all of them, but still receive that good early payout. With this example, you can be receiving payout from dwarves drinking alcohol, and children eating candy early game, and late game, condense those symbols into a single zaroff for further payout and one symbol of clog (and even eliminate zaroff with another zaroff for 0 clog, if you're lucky).

Same here. It was never really available, at home. Fruit juice wasn't, either (which is almost as bad, minus the HFCS). No chocolate milk, no sugary cereals. No candy, at home, either. So, when I got my first job, and had access to my own money, for once... My diet took a BAD turn. I could suddenly eat all of the disgusting crap I was never allowed, before. Thankfully, that was mostly a temporary change. I went from a disgustingly unhealthy fast food and candy diet to teaching myself to really cook, and eating super healthily. I didn't try Lucky Charms cereal until I was like 30, and it became a bit of an addiction, though. 😒

Another stupid item idea: Bow (Legendary) After any Arrow symbol spins it then fires down the line destroying any items it hits but giving 3x the amount the of arrow. Arrows are also destroyed when this happens, unless player has Quiver item.

I'm on a pretty much truly endless run right now. It involves the protractor, an insane amount of suits, two Card Sharks, two Jokers, and a few other bits of crap that get in the way. I used a lucky Midas Bomb to clear a lot of the clutter I had which paved the way to the insane board I have now. A buffing capsule in the corner and I made over 44,000 gold in a turn, it regularly makes 10,000+ a spin with the shark and joker in the corners. I'm going to give up soon because it's boring now, but still, I doubt I'll get this lucky for a while so it's hard to give it up.

I have a true endless run with bees flowers and suns. At 2 million and the rent is gonna take forever to catch up since it rises in increments of 500 (update for those that care, I tried optimizing the run with more suns and Midas bomb unless symbols. The best I’ve gotten is 30 Mil in one spin. Up to 160 million total while rent is at 23K)

NL, if you have a lot of modifier symbols (beastmasters/moons) put the payout symbol (owl) in the corner as this lets all of the modifiers stack. If you have a lot of the payout symbols, and few modifiers, put the modifiers in the corner so all the payouts are affected. As the game goes later you want to move from lots of payout symbols, to lots of modifiers as they stack and make more money. Edit: if you have protractor

The bit at 36 mins where he talks about people tweeting progressively less enthusiasticly is 100% me - got a like from NL when I had 15k in the bank and felt good but my suits and gems run just completely broke. I stopped when I had a million in the bank. Just wasn't fun, no tension.
