I love how throughout the video the people start disappearing from the room -- you know, going and painting, doing photography, writing on the blackboards-- doing what they want to do with their lives, until it's just Adam and Aloe Blacc in the room singing, because, that's what they did with their lives. That was their passion, how they touched the world. They didn't need to go anywhere because that's what "the rest of *their* lives" was all about.

I cant wait for this song to feel good again. It is beautiful. Edit: It has been 8 months since i made this comment, and I can say now that this song no longer hurts. As someone who is in my second half of high school, this songs meaning is starting to dawn on me. This song is now an encouragement to me, and I cannot wait to see where my life take me. This was the song me and my wife played after we a got married and walked out of the venue to... such incredible memories.. Like so many, I’ve been surfing though my older faves and re-stumbled across the Gem that is Owl City. There was always something special about the music, how Adam captures the best life has to offer in such an inspiring way. Makes me want to squeeze the Joy out of life. Hang in there all, the joy this guy protrudes and sings about can only be found in the one who created it all. God. Look to Him now more than ever in these sad times. There is always hope :) Thanks Adam for bringing joy and beauty into the world. I hope you continue one day, the world needs it.

Is it just me or can i see this being the tune playing during the fireworks at New Years on the TV Broadcasts? It has that forward thinking hopeful bubbliness to it. I especially love the whistling parts. This is a hit just waiting to top charts!
This... This is the song that proves he's not a one hit wonder and is going to remain. He's a genius with music and brings about a sense of wonder that we as a species needs to hold onto.

Geoff Roach Oh yeah? By selling his ass to the record companies? What you say was true during the OE and ATBAB days. But ever since the VERY average Midsummer station album I am getting worried that we will loose Adam Youngs genius...
@danielpiperno78149 жыл бұрын
necroplastful i know its not the best but pubblicity is pubblicity. Who remembers the good ol` fireflies days? I love adam but for me that was his golden age
@user-gu8yf2rc8i9 жыл бұрын
necroplastful I expect the phrase "open minded" wouldn't be a part of your vocabulary. Adam Young is a creative genius, creative enough to not limit himself to one style, but every few albums to try something a little different. None, I repeat, none of his music is average. No matter what Adam does, no matter what style he decides to use, it always becomes the best of it's class. It's the artists that stay the same, that never change or re invent themselves... those are the artists who lack the creative genius. Those are the ones that fade away, and disappear. Adam isn't one of those artists, and Adam is only getting bigger in popularity because of that. Adam Young's golden age hasn't passed... I think were in it, and going to remain in it for a while.
@zenyray9 жыл бұрын
YES! Agree to you on so many levels. Fans always see him as different each album because he always tries to reinvent his sound, explore new tools, and jump off into the unknown. He takes his risks, and that makes one a true artist.
@necroplastful9 жыл бұрын
Yeah but I know for a fact whenever you read the credits for TMS that he did not write all of his tracks. I am open minded but not an idiot neither. I don't mind Adam experimenting new shit but even when a band experiments new stuff they try to keep the essence of what makes them themselves alive. And I feel that we don't have that in tracks like Verge, Gold (his worst song ever by an insane longshot), I'm coming After You and a few more... At least I know for sure Mobile Orchestra will have at least one awesome song being This Isn't The End so I will wait and see.

I graduated in 2015 and this was the song my friend requested we play during the hat toss during our graduation ceremony. I don’t think any other grade had done it, nor has any other since then. I grew up with those people from kindergarten up till graduation. We’re all in different continents and lives now, but whenever this song comes on, for one moment, we’re all together on that stage, one last time.

+VPlayz What, are you deaf! jk! I think there music is better cause he is not singing about sex, drugs, alcohol, partying, and all that other nonsense that main stream bands put out. His song have MEANING to them and that's what makes a great artist to me. He writes all of his songs and puts his feelings and emotions into them. That's why people can connect with his music and it can encourage you and modaivate you. To me that is being a TRUE artist and being talented. But that's just my opinion! :)
@christinayoung47678 жыл бұрын
+VPlayz That makes sence and I can see where you are coming from. I do agree, he is not that great of a singer. But I still love them no less. :)
@itsxake8 жыл бұрын
+Christina Young I agree with you %100 I also really like how he did this video it has a really good making to it. he did the beginning in black and white and showed people of different races but they were all black and white in other words they are same. later it goes to color with everyone and their differences all partying together they don't care that anyone is different and the songs lyrics are great they talk about a bunch of different stuff and you can take a lot of different meanings from this song but for mine he's taking about going forward together one humanity, no races, we are the same in our different ways and we can be on the verge of that being a reality.

***** When I first got 1989 album and listened to "Bad Blood" I gave it directly one star. It totally lacks catchiness and harmony. And then months later, Taylor releases an epic music video and everybody's like freaking out. Seriously... I'm a proud Owl City citizen. Because in Owl City, you have Rainbow Veins. Dreams Don't Turn to Dust, and you rise your head up to Alligator Sky to watch the Meteor Shower. You ride in a Hot Air Balloon, and greet the Sky Diver of Umbrella Beach. During the night, Fireflies flit about under the Vanilla Twilight sky. You should visit sometime. If you're lucky, you'll see the Strawberry Avalanche, far away from The Real World.

I cry to this song because I wish that I could relive to my high school years, or maybe to my kindergarten. It breaks my heart knowing that, it is been too long. To look back from where I vow to be a better person. To look back for my first day, first class, first friend, first cafeteria breakfast and/or lunch, first bad grade, first dream job. Man... I wish I could relive back in 2000. I’m in tears for this.

@evan9 жыл бұрын
Talon Diwisch it had no useful part in the video. It was shoehorned in as product placement. Do you not know how these things work?
@talondiwisch52069 жыл бұрын
Why does it have to be "product placement"? If I walked by and saw someone using an HP computer, are they trying to advertise? Also, blurring out a brand name just makes it unrealistic 'cause that's not like real-life at all. I literally think this is one of the dumbest things people complain about 'cause it makes no sense at all.

From the moment this song came out I’ve been so excited for my senior year, to finally have my moment out on the verge and it just hurts. Everything I’ve been looking forward to has been ruined. I’m so sorry to those in the class of 2020. And as a member of the class of 2021 I can’t help but wonder how amazing this time could have been for us. So if anyone come across this comment who is in the same situation as me, let’s just take a minute to grieve and acknowledge the pain. I only pray that we can all grow from this and try to make the most of what time we have left.

To anyone who is not "feeling" Adam's new style, this is for you. Just a hunch, but if he returned to his old style, he won't make a lot of money. Only a few people - which are probably Owl City fans - would buy it. Of course Republic Records wouldn't want that. They may have asked Adam to write songs which majority of people would enjoy. I guess this is what happened with ATBAB. It didn't sell too good, so Republic Records went to Adam and made him work with others to make more pop and "generic" music.
@shanedaniel46409 жыл бұрын
So that's what making music is about these days? Money? Fuck yourself and your closed minded interests. Adam Young used to write incredible music that no one ever could do but him. Extremely deep with beautiful melodies. His old music saved my life. Now I gotta deal with his change because the majority is too stupid to appreciate the music he is capable of making. He had more then plenty of fans before he turned generic. The record company sucked the talent from this guy. If you like this than your not a fan of Adam, your a fan of the cowriters who actually write this shit. Fuck you
@AleyCity9 жыл бұрын
shane Daniel you're so rude. What she/he said is totally right. He should use this style to sell, i'm an old fan and i do support every owl city style. But ATBAB didn't sell much, i love it, but again artists should sell, i mean who doesn't need money? + what the fuck is wrong with your logic? If you like this style you aren't a ture fan? Really? You should accept that Adam is evolving and he changed. Stop crying like a bitch and accept that. If you want his old songs, go listen to them

you guys act like he never made any money from his previous work. He made plenty of money plus the money from his tours. Midsummer station actually undersold and ATBAB made a lot. Ocean eyes made the most and had the most popularity, so what does that tell you? He stated that co writers made decisions for him and didnt give him freedom to do what he wanted. So this is not Adams work hes just apart of it. The label has full control. His early work was all him and how he wanted it to sound and feel. He obviously needs money but that doesnt mean pump out shit like every katy perry and every other radio "hit single." His originality flew out the window and if you cant see that than youre all clueless cunts.
