@SlimThrull3 жыл бұрын
It came from Europe centuries ago. Cats were seen as demonic creatures and black cats especially so. Eventually most people came to accept that (surprise!) cats aren't demonic at all. But the black cat superstition had a lot more staying power for some reason. It's a real shame too. I've known several black cats and, without fail, seem to be more friendly than most other cats.

2 of my 5 rescue cats are black. My theory on why black cats aren't adopted more is that it's more difficult to see their facial expressions than it is on a cat with white or light colors on their face. That makes it harder for a lot of people to be emotionally attracted to or bond with a kitten or cat they don't know. It's the same reason there are so many black dogs in shelters that don't easily get adopted.

@arctorusmedia5 жыл бұрын
That really doesn't make any sense. First of all, adoption costs a lot of money that some people don't have. The pet store down the street charges 150 per cat. Secondly, cats that are bred in captivity and sold deserve homes too. All cats deserve homes and love, not just ones in adoption shelters. Third, there are a ton of cats just outside in the world that starve and fight when they grow up. There are tons of strays out in my neighborhood that get pregnant several times a year and the kittens go on to join that cycle, so there are plenty of strays that can be found for free and not some arbitrarily inflated price. Saying "adopt don't shop" is basically saying that cats bred in captivity and sold don't deserve homes.

I was a programmer back in the eighties, so I got an internet account when it was pretty rare to have one. I got really excited when I saw people from all over the world communicating and helping each other. I was thinking that the internet would change the world - and it has! All the changes aren’t necessarily for the better, but I think most of the changes are great. I never imagined that one of the things that would unite people would be the almost universal love of animals. Humanity’s love of cats and dogs has made it so we all have something in common. I subscribe to channels all over the world where cat and dog owners show their happy pets enjoying life, and OwlKitty is one of my favorites. I’m sure Lizzie has a lot of fun being the center of attention when she is the star of these videos. She doesn’t know how famous she is, but she DOES know that her human parents love her - and that’s the most important thing.

I took her in at 5 wks. She was found outside a post office under a bench. She's ornery, feisty, not scared of anything and keeps my two male Maine Coons on their toes. I love when she jumps on and straddles Alestair (the biggest and fluffiest of the two males...and yes, they were also adopted from a shelter). Senior animals are really good to adopt also. I adopted an 8 yr old cat with a 4 month kitten because I couldn't let her stay any longer. She'd been in the shelter 8 months already. She was a good step mom to the kitten.

Awwww I love this so much! I got my baby Leo (also a mini panther) from a rescue at 5 months. His momma was a stray rescue and only about 8 months or so when she had kittens. I believe only 3 survived, Leo was one of them. I knew as soon as I saw his picture that he needed to be a part of my life. He's my first cat.

Oh, I love Cat Adoption Team! I have three cats from them (one we adopted from another foster, and two we adopted after foster failing). One of them (Barnaby) looks a lot like your OwlKitty. He acts kinda like your kitty too. I wonder if he’s your kitty’s sibling? He is really sweet to our cats, and often snuggles with one of our crew. They like to lick each other, and it’s sooo cute.

I love Lizzy Owl Kitty. She looks and acts so much like my Jaimoe, who lived to be 18. Also, great raccoon painting behind you.

Imagine being so miserable and edgy, you dislike a origin story.

People disliking joy is literally what’s wrong with the world. Learn to just be happy! Life is what you make it. Slamming a dislike is just a sad tantrum of hurting person.
@alpha-tomahawk5325 жыл бұрын
@@maruraba1478 I agree with dislikes but in world we live in you can't be happy unless you live seperated from the world. You either family with enough money or the rest.

It always amuses me when there's a drop in the water of dislikes on a video, like the 0.2% on this one at the time I'm writing this, and someone feels the need to speak out against it. How much more of a control freak could you possibly be? Then, of course, there's the delightful description of it being a "sad tantrum of [a] hurting person". This clear need to put distance between oneself and someone literally disagreeing on the value of a cat video. WTF is wrong with you people?
@fabiana71575 жыл бұрын
@@VestinVestin There's really no reason to dislike a video like this though. It's just a cute cat video. Maybe you should wonder what tf is wrong with THOSE people. Unless the video is absolutely horrible, there's no reason to dislike in general. Most people just move on to another video if the one they're currently watching proves to be uninteresting

You guys rock! Your videos started showing up on my recommended feed one day and I'm so glad they did! Thanks for the amazing videos and for spreading the word about adopting from a shelter. I once had a black cat named Torey who was a big lovey mush. Unfortunately, too many years of previous maltreatment before we rescued him led to many health problems, including diabetes, but we loved and treasured him every day of his life with us. He was one of the smartest cats we ever had. A friend of mine adopted a black cat because he was so impressed by Torey. Looking forward to more videos!

😻✨I'm glad that Lizzy found such a loving family and a forever home full of happiness💞😘 💕Shoutout to you guys for spreading awareness that black cats are just normal cats and not some sort of bad omen.......❣️they equally deserve the love and affection as any other cat irrespective of the colour. Watching her previous photos was heartbreaking😿🥺........but she grew up to be such an amazingly adorable kitty😽😍.......god bless your family 💗

I also have a beautiful Lizzy of my own. I adopted her after seeing a post on a Facebook group, and I could not believe she was found in the street, at a card box inside a parking lot at a supermarket, with only one black kitten left with her - she had just given birth. I love them so much. Her kitten is not fur like her and I am impressed to know she might be a Tiffany-chantilly, all the descriptions match so much. She is sweet and chatty. The way she interacts with me sounds really like she is saying "Thank you" all the time, it's so beautiful. I love your work, so impressive editing skills, and of course, every time I play videos with Lizzy I show her and say "that's your sis!"

Thank you for this origin story of the great OwlKitty. I am a huge fan. And big time thanks for not only adopting a shelter cat, but a black one. I have two black shelter cats. A male named Norton and his little sister Avalon. Together, those two have given me some of the best moments of my life.

Thank you so much for encouraging humans to adopt. Especially black cats. My little darling was wonderful. ❤️ Humans need to look inside themselves more and see what's really going on. Why would they discriminate? A beautiful soul, is a beautiful soul. That's it. 💗🙏🏼

We had Bear the WonderCat for 9 years. One day walking in the rain, I hear a tiny "mew" from below a drainage pipe behind the supermarket where I shop. There was a tiny wet ball of fur. I think she had been living in the pipe until it rained and washed her out. (Las Vegas. It rains little) She tried to jump back up into the pipe, was too heavy from her wet fur, fell back down and said, "Take me. I'm yours." I brought Stormy home and she hid in the spare bedroom for 3 days crying. She finally emerged and I heard Bear hiss for the first time ever. But Stormy persisted. Stormy is 5 now and Bear is 14. He doesn't hiss anymore. Occasionally he will even play with her. She still attacks him all over the house playfully, but he is an old man of cats. He just looks at me as if to say, "Why? I had it made. You HAD to bring her home." lol...btw. Love your videos

I have a Black kitty that could pass for Lizzy's twin. She was literally dropped off in the middle of street at my house, covered in fleas, no hair. Flash forward 10 years later and she is just the best cat, she is so nice with my new daughter. Owning a black cat is wonderful, for sure the natural pictures you can take in the fall with pumpkins and Halloween décor. Love the story!

I found your channel recently & it's utterly charming! I really love cats, too. I understand them. I was an animal cruelty investigator for the Sheriff's Dept. of a large city. I was also a surgical & lab tech for the County Veterinarian at Animal Control. I've seen abuses that were so horrific they have haunted my dreams to this day. Terrible suffering at the hands of cruel human beings. I'm long retired now & much, much older, but I still have a heart for all animals, but I have a real magic touch with cats. I have 5 of them that found their way to my home out in a very remote, rural area that isn't close to any neighbors. I have no idea where they all come from, but I can't bear to see them left to the wolves, coyotes, cougars, bobcats & eagles, hawks, etc., in the nearby woods, so all of them live in my home with my hubby & I. They are loved & they love me back! I also have 2 rescue dogs, too, so glad that our home is large enough to accommodate them all, with all hard flooring for easy cleaning up after them! Nice to see a sweet couple like you two who have that same spirit of love for these wonderful felines! Sorry for the long response, but wanted to say I appreciate ya'll! Thank you for these adorable videos of your much loved little diva!

Black cats are simply amazing. I've had my beautiful boy Whisper and his brother Punkin for almost 13 years, got them at 3 days old. It's been a journey and I can't imagine my life without my boys. Whisper's eyes are just like owl kitty, he's black but short haired. Black cats are beautiful and so loving. Kick the stigma to the curb and get one of those beautiful beauties.
