I just received my strap yesterday and installed immediately on my G2. While I love the G2 the original strap never quite felt right. After installing the new Elite Strap it was a world difference in the fit and feel. It felt much "lighter" and more solid. The wheel to tighten it worked flawlessly. All in all, this felt like it came factory on the G2. I absolutely couldn't be happier and couldn't recommend it enough.

This is a must have for any G2 owner! So much more comfortable and no aligns perfectly to my face instantly unlike the uneven stock strap.

Like the design but im hate that sort of silicone surface finish becoming sticky over time

this is a must buy for anyone that has a HP Reverb G2, more comfortable to wear over the original strap, easy to install, feels alot more premium where the original strap felt cheap and flimsy, adjust the strap with the dial on the back to bring the lenses on the headset closer to your eyes to make the fov bigger, forget the Frankenfov mod idea from MRTV, I tried it and the mod was complete crap and useless, didn't work properly and there was light leakage coming in because it also didn't fit on the headset the right way, if you want to replace the face gasket on the HP Reverb G2, order a 3D Printed Designed one online,( the face gasket mod designed by Jewcookie on Thingiverse) someone in the US is selling them on Ebay for $49 with the facial interface, magnets and velcro installed, get that and this strap to improve the G2

Thanks for the link. I hate the original straps so at $44, this is worth checking out for me. I don't know about $90 added shipping . Also, my friend made the faceplate/gasket for me as well. Not sure if I like it either, but I noticed my vertical FOV increased by 20 degrees (from 80 to 100). Ordered thicker cushions 8mm and 11mm) bc with 6mm my eyelashes were touching the lenses.

Was your replacement faceplate black? I'm curious how much light bleed occurs when they're printed in black.
@christopherfrost70414 жыл бұрын
@@RADComputers Yes. Black PETG. And yes, I did notice a little light bleed through the walls when I had my normal lights on. I only use the lights from my aquarium when playing (better tracking), so it is not an issue for me. Maybe a layer of black gorilla duct tape from Wally world might solve that issue, even with the blue faceplate.

@@christopherfrost7041 I might flexiseal or plastidip mine with black to see if it helps. I'll post a comment and let you know if it does

@@RADComputers Good idea for the blue one. I wish mine was a bit thicker. I checked my faceplate again earlier, and the light leakage through the material is barely noticeable, if any. Now I think the culprits are the spaces between the velcro. I'll let you know what's really going on when I get the 8mm and 11mm cushions to test out. I'm also excited to see how the new head strap plays into all of this. Definitely looks like a game changer.

lol i bought this thing as soon as it popped up on amazon. not here yet so thanks for this big time. one question, can you easily re-install the oem headstrap? seems like it would be hard to thread the velcro straps back through! edit: also, does it seem to make the g2 fit a larger head, or smaller? ( i have dreadlocs, makes squeezing into the stock strap a pain unless i undo velcro and put all my hair through the top first)
@RADComputers4 жыл бұрын
I'll bet your dreads are awesome! I will say it's way more convenient that having your dreads get stuck in the micro bits of velcro. When I had long hair (up in a bun) it was way easier to use a tension knob for VR. Since the back is solid, it'll just fit over and clamp onto the shape. Hope this helps!

@@RADComputers i got it today finally and wow, huge freakin improvement lol. thanks for this comment tho, it definitely is so much better than the stock velcro straps, and it DID make the maximum adjustment size way bigger!

@@RADComputers thanks for this video! I’m also curious about how easy it is to reinstall the original head strap - is it doable?

Does this help with the overall weight distribution of the G2? It's a lot more balanced than my Index, but it is still a bit front heavy.
@RADComputers4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely does! The velcro doesn't stop it from shifting up and down much, but the tension knob definitely does. This REALLY helps lock in the sweet spot on the G2 :)
@midnightrocker73 жыл бұрын
nevermind about the Frankenfov mod, it is total crap, MRTV is the channel that posted the idea for the mod, never listening to that guy ever again for advice, there was like leakage coming in from that mod and it didn't fit properly on the G2, I bought this strap and it is a very good replacement for replacing the original stock strap on the G2, comfortable to wear and feels very premium compared to the original strap, very easy to install
@ComdrStew3 жыл бұрын
Actually the mod works great. The nose has a lot of light leak though, so I took a soft reading glasses cover you get for a couple dollars from Walmart and outlined a nose piece from the original face gasket. Then I just used Velcro to hold it in place.

$43.99 + $90.30 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to Canada not worth it
@RADComputers4 жыл бұрын
That's what we were seeing in the Facebook community where the elite strap was first posted. Some people had $200+ just in shipping to get it. Hopefully it becomes more widely available, and fast! :)

why do people who cant even invest in a holder for their phone/camera even bother making youtube videos..? As If I love looking at your carpet and shaky camera half the time. Just because you CAN post does not mean you should. Can we please go back to a time where professionals did content and the rest of us didnt.

Shipping is a rip off, this thing does not look worth it. I guess it's saftey pins when the velcro starts to fail. Shipping shouldn't cost 2 times the cost of the product itself. That does NOT cost $90 to ship, they're making the bulk of their money in shipping. They're charging over $100 for this thing and hiding more than half the cost in shipping. Maybe I'd buy one when DHgate knocks it off because the shipping will be reasonable.
@RADComputers4 жыл бұрын
Shipping outside the U.S. is definitely high.
