Glad you guys are highlighting The Whatnot Cabinet! It was one of my surprises of last year. It's true the game isn't particularly "novel," but what it lacks in originality it makes up for in accessibility and sheer enjoyment. A designer like Dr. Finn is so adept at taking tried and true mechanics, mixing them up a little, and producing a great package in the process, and The Whatnot Cabinet is no exception!

@@bobcattom5997 I totally agree, Cameron. My wife and I continue to be surprised by how smooth it is - it plays so quickly but still gives you a lot to think about in a game that takes only 20 minutes or so. - Carlo

Hey 2 questions if you guys see this: Will you consider reviewing more of the older marvel champions decks/expansions? I was looking for red skull xpac review and doctor strange deck and noticed you guys didn’t review these. have you guys ever considered making videos of you guys playing some games? Not sure if you’ve done this or not. I’d love to see a vid of you doing marvel champions play through as a new player.

I've been part of the board game community for over 5-6 years and I'm always still amazed about how many games there are! Part of why I love this channel, I love seeing and learning about new games.

Aww thanks, Manon! We really do try to cover a wide variety of games, including lesser known ones, so it's really nice to see comments like this.

28:18 "Glass for Odin" I totally want to try a game with this title now. 🤣🤣

For real though. Glass road has been on my list for a while. I just haven't made the plunge. But now I feel like it's moved up on that list.

Haha that would've been great but I think you misheard me. I said "People don't often talk about Glass Road and...", I guess the "Glass Road and" part sounded like "Glass for Odin"? I mean I would love to try that made up game too though! - Carlo

Agree with everything you said about Riftforce. Right after I played the first time wanted to play again and adjust my strategy. Really looking forward to the upcoming expansion but there is plenty of variety with what comes in the core box.

Love AYCB and always enjoy your thoughtful insights. I agree with your observations on Kabuto Sumo. The artwork and components are fantastic, but the game doesn’t seem to have enough tension. I am hopeful that an expansion may add more to the game. We are huge Uwe fans at our house and have had Glass Road on the list of games to try. I will move up it on the list now that I know that I can actually get a confirmation on the play time. (Team Oden!) I was enjoying Carlo’s discussion in the beginning of the video and admiring your matching mugs today, and then…xD ! Thank you for keeping the blooper in the video. It’s one of the many reasons that we enjoy watching you. Keep up the fantastic work. We appreciate you!

Super happy to see Not Alone on this video. Great game, and I do own it. I’d definitely recommend playing at 4-7 people and allowing everyone the chance to be the creature. Solid artwork and gameplay.

Agreed, higher player counts have been more fun and frantic for Not Alone!

Not Alone is super fun. I've actually only played it at two players, and loved it. It's so tense! Plus, it's easy to travel with. Thanks for the video!

Glass Road is one of my favourite games ever! And the only Uwe I own. For anyone who likes the idea of Uwe's farming simulators but doesn't have the time, tablespace, or friends dedicated to learning a complex game, Glass Road packs a serious punch for a game that plays quick and has low rules overhead. It's very thought provoking and the the production wheels are super satisfying to puzzle out. Glass Road deserves much more attention 🙏

I don't play games solo, but I did play Whatnot Cabinet solo just to learn the rules and I thought it was great. It is a puzzle game, so it works well that way. I prefer it at two players, but I feel it's almost too quick of a game. I had not heard of the other games you covered except for Glass Road so I was curious about your thoughts on it. I have to admit I got distracted every time you touched your glass for the rest of the video, lol. We've all been there. Can you cover Boonlake in the future? Thanks.
@AllYouCanBoard2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Jacob! Good to know Whatnot Cabinet still plays well solo, I'll have to try it out one of these days. And yes, we definitely plan on covering Boonlake at some point once we get our hands on a copy. Hopefully sooner rather than later! - Carlo

Riftforce is great and I am amazed that there is no neoprene playmat. Never played a game more suited to one! The lane rows are literally screaming to be converted to one
@AllYouCanBoard2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! It would be a fantastic addition.
@billable1861 Жыл бұрын
I think for cost and portability the fact the lane is also cards is clever and quite nice. It also adds less tangible lane lines since the lines are not printed just imagined by where the first card ends and the next one begins lined up beside it. Mat could be good too of course, I just appreciate the simplicity and in the initial cost-effective design.

Thanks guys I'm definitely going to check out Glass Road, Not Alone and Whatnot Cabinet these 3 have my attention and now I can't wait to play them. I would like you guys to cover the game Rattlebones it's different then any game I ever played. Thanks.

Love this format, guys. Haven't yet played Rift Force... maybe wait for the inevitable playmat with the expansion?? I was excited to get Not Alone to the table with three friends and... wow, did it bomb for us. Tried it a couple times, gave up after we realized no one was having fun. The primary issue for us hinged on the time and thought the humans put into their actions each round only to have all that negated by a wily or (un)lucky alien move. "Well, I guess my turn is shot. How did you do?" This negating player choices was a bummer, especially when it happened multiple times in a game. After one person got blocked three times in a row and said, "Why am I bothering? Is this supposed to be fun?" we put it away and played something else. 😕
@AllYouCanBoard2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Matthew! I don't know enough about the Riftforce expansion, but I'll say the base game definitely has plenty of value in it already, so depending how expensive the expansion ends up being, I can already say it's not a NECESSARY addition to the game (although who knows - it could make it a lot better). As for Not Alone - I haven't played it yet but thanks for sharing your experience with it. I'm hoping my experience is more similar to Dylann's since he enjoyed it quite a bit. Sorry to hear it fell flat for you! - Carlo
@billable1861 Жыл бұрын
As for riftforce: I kind of like the fact that part of the games dividing lines are also cards. Makes it really portable.

I disagree on The What Whatnot Cabinet. Definitely a buy for me and my family and friends. My 8 year old requests it often.
@AllYouCanBoard2 жыл бұрын
That's totally fair and anyone who buys it will most likely be happy with their purchase like we are. We've enjoyed it quite a bit each time, it's just not quite a "must own" for my personal collection. We'll see if it lasts the test of time or if I eventually get rid of it. - Carlo

You mean pass on all these games? Your loss, Per! Based on some of the game preferences you've mentioned in the past, I think you might like Glass Road and Riftforce, probably not so much the other ones. Either way, keep in mind we like to feature a wide range of games, including ones that we might not like, or might think are just "okay" but not great. Hopefully this helps other people make decisions about which games they want to play/buy.

@@AllYouCanBoard It seems you two are more of the "omnigamer" type. I guess this is needed to run a channel with "broad" reviews.
