wow. I looked these guys up because my sister really likes Visual Kei rock and she was telling me that the guys who influenced it all were a band called X Japan. So I decided to look them up and I can totally see how they influenced other generations. They have that epic quality you vary rarely find in rock bands. True classics. They had performance and ability to write epic songs. This was a cool post. Thanks for introducing me to something new.

This is not the first time I watch this video as well as Part 1-3 too. I'm a metal fan all my life with Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Deicide, Cryptopsy, Dimmu Borgir and all. But X-Japan deserves a special place. Seriously. Somewhere higher than the rest in terms of composition, creativity, passion and dedication.

Actually I think a couple of songs were written by hide: Scars, Celebration, Miscast, Joker, Love Replica, and Drain. All the rest were written by Yoshiki who is a GENIUS

Oh my God!!! It's the best live performance I've ever seen in my life!!! Toshi could sing it without any mistake!! Hide guitar playing was simply...GREAT!!! sorry he'll never play anymore Pata's rythm is fuckin' awesome...no need of a 3rd guitar!! Heath's bass line....AWESOME!! Yoshiki.....He wrote it, and he could play Drums and Piano for 34 minutes!!!! Absolutely, X Japan is the best Symphonic Rock band EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are all exceptionally good at what they do. THE greatest? No. Some of the greatest? In my opinion, yes. And it's not just how well they play, it's HOW they play. They are a legend, they deserve some fucking respect. Dragonforce was nowhere around when X-Japan hit the scene in the 80's. They are HUGE in Japan, just like Metallica was HUGE here in the U.S.

I am sure he speaks some english to be able to pronounce many things in this song, but I agree he has a very heavy accent and I know for a fact that any language is hard to learn from one who doesn't speak it as their main. I think he sounds great for that and has a wonderful voice. Anyone who thinks differently is obviously just jealous.

I totally love the bit which starts at 02:26. Simply beautiful.... if we ignore for a second that Yoshiki TOTALLY ripped it OFF note-for-note from Franz Schubert's 8th symphony xD, hahahaha. Nah, but it's great how he obviously paid homage to one of the greatest classical composers.

I consider each member, even the late hide, to be amongst the most technically skilled musicians in the world from the birth of music to the current date (07/07/2011 3:56 AM) and onward. Yoshiki, amazing drummer/pianist and song composer. Possibly the #1 greatest drum player in the world and I would make him the #4 greatest piano player in history considering that he took "wrong" notes and made them a part of the song with meaning behind them.

wow I can't even believe people even think of comparing X JAPAN and dragonforce! WTF? This band is legendary and this song is a testament to their greatness. Dragonforce is a joke...they can't even play their own songs live, yet X JAPAN comes back after 10 years and plays this song LIVE. I don't even see the basis of that comparison. Endless Rain, Tears, Rose of Pain etc etc, there isn't a single song that can combine melody and emotion so well. X!

No, that's wrong. Music of Dear Loser, Phantom of Guilt, Desperate Angel, and Voiceless Screaming were composed by Taiji. Give me the Pleasure was composed by hide and Taiji (just like Exclamation). Wriggle was composed by Heath and Pata. And the fabulous Sadistic Desire was composed by hide.
