Thanks for this info! I recently saw an '18 Ghibli for $25'500. My first thought was "I can afford that!" But after watching this, I have no idea how many miles it has, whether it's been in an accident, or anything else. This could've been a costly mistake, especially if it needed a full brake job. Woah!

Having an accident tied to your vin# really does a number on it’s value, no matter how minor it is. I changed lanes into a BMW that had suddenly accelerated into my path. You could see it’s hood rise up from the acceleration. I had it all recorded on my Tesla’s built in Sentry Mode. I sent the rear and side camera recordings to my insurance company, but it is always the car who is changing lanes driver’s fault, no matter what. It cost me my deductible and my insurance went up and it will stay high for years to come. My spouse also had an accident that was deemed his fault. Our insurance had been really cheap and is now doubled! We shopped around and most want even more money.

Yea it really sucks especially if the car was a lease and you pay for the lower residual.

@@adamdrivesla8268 We own and we hope to keep it a long time. Used car values are crazy now, with no accidents, people are selling their used Teslas and then ordering a new one. New Jersey residents pay no sales tax on BEV’s and get up to $2,500 rebates.

Oh yea it’s an insane market now. A friend of mine just tried buying a slightly used 2020 Porsche which cost more than a new one simply because it was available that day.

Had the same issue when I went to sell my MK7 GTI… carmax and a few other used car dealerships offered me $17k for it when most GtIs with more miles than mine were selling for $23-$24k. Sucks because no body panels had to be replaced from the accident, just pulled out a dent in the rear hatch..

Yup, that’s why so many people don’t even report damage like that to their insurance. Just pay out of pocket to save the future headaches

CarMax probably devalues cars because some rain had got on them during the winter. They are the worst!

Haha, good way to know the cost of materials on your car at least

CarMax is supposed to use autocheck and not carfax, they sold my last car(a 2016 Jaguar XF with 16k miles) with previous reported damage on it and didn’t disclose it. When I sold it back to them since I’m in the market for a Ghibli s q4 they told me when they gave me the offer they wouldn’t use carfax lol

Hahaha unbelievable. Not the best source to sell a car, but I’ve purchased a GTO from them in the past at a fair price. Either way, wasn’t planning on selling to a retailer. Hope you find a nice SQ4!

How much would you sell it for at this current time frame?
@adamdrivesla8268 Жыл бұрын
I sold it for the same price I paid, and it looks like they are still hovering around 25-28k for a mid-mileage SQ4.

Just FYI dude, you don't need a dealership or even an indie shop to reset those service lights.. Affordable, aftermarket tools are available that a chimpanzee can figure out how to use.
