About to be new puppy parents here. What is some benefits of pet insurance? How much is it? Who would be a reputable company to do business with? Thanks in advance.

Pet insurance will be there to help pay the bills.. depending on the coverage you choose, deductibles etc… when the unexpected happens. Torn ligaments, eating the wrong thing and it getting stuck , tumors etc are some things we’ve been glad for coverage for. Ours just paid 70% after the deductible for a $6,000 surgery that saved our Doodles life. Getting insurance early helps assure lower premiums as they age. We use and are happy with a company called Fetch. Have heard Trupanion is also good. Look for coverage that is far reaching, not having to add riders for everything as I have noted w AKC’s product. Do your homework and May your new family member bring you much joy! 🐾🐾

@@jasonclark3724 Hi.pet insurance is a must when getting a puppy.Its cost depends on what you want in your insurance just like human insurance.Ask your vet what insurance they take to help find one.When my shitzu was 7 months,she fell off a chair and broke a leg.I was at the vet ALOT with that one and the insurance covered %80.

Good advice. My Siberian Husky was a Christmas puppy. I got her December 23rd 2017. Hard to believe I had her almost 5 years. I bought her as a present to myself. I added a half sister February 16 2019. Training can be hard, but you can't give up. I know my first was a biting machine, I struggle for over a year with her. My 2nd was harder to potty train, but was never a biter/didn't chew on furniture etc. All dogs are different, different personalities and different issues you need to work on.

Hi Erin: I actually watched this not long after it was public and meant to comment but then... ummm well, I had five little nine-week old puppies in my tiny home at the time and you know how that goes. Now I'm down to one almost sixteen-week old pup, thank goodness. Anyway, these are great tips for not only newby dog people but anyone who is getting a new dog and forgets some of the things that are involved. Your first point about even an older dog having things to work on is something I think many people forget. I have a service dog, and when we're out and I'm either teaching him something new or asking him to rework a task, I get comments like: I thought they're already trained." Foundationally, yes. But it doesn't stop with the first trainer, assuming the dog came from a program. Anyway, having a "good" dog takes work and lots of it. But man, it's worth it in the end, even if there are days when you're like: AAAAAAHHH! I keep thinking about your dogs longingly. In many ways, I don't think I can afford to keep up with all the grooming needs of a Golden Doodle unless I give up the other breeds I love--GSDs and rat terriers. But I also love the temperament and soundness a well-bred and well-raised Golden Doodle has, so... I dunno. Maybe you'll be able to persuade me fully with your content over time. Hee hee. I want to get one for all the right reasons though, not because everyone has one.

I will win you over for sure! That is so true that all dogs can be worked with and made into a “good dog”.
@khanhhm5762
@khanhhm5762 Жыл бұрын
@@DoodlesofNC You probably will, too. :) Although you might find me a bit obnoxious because I am super detail oriented, I don't do anything on a whim, and when it comes to purchasing a dog, I'm all about establishing a solid relationship with the breeder first because I think it's important we all feel good about each other and are on the same page. (I work for a small breeding program, have purchased a dog from a breeder before and have learned a ton. I'm intimately involved with most aspects of my breeder's program and I can better empathize with many aspects of breeding that most wouldn't/know very little about... Oh, and I spend a good portion of my time educating our buyers about the importance of choosing for temperament and structure before visuals, though we do take families' visual and color preferences into consideration when matching.) Anyhoo, Ive got a ton of homework to do before bringing a Golden Doodle into my life, but when I apply, I'll be prepared and have tons of questions I'm sure. (I jokingly asked Meghan, my breeder, if she'd be okay crossing a Roo Roo rat terrier with a Golden Doodle and she said no. A Golden Roodle. Bah.)

I have a potty training question. Our puppies are just about nine months and and. we are not home throughout the day to put them on our bathroom schedule. They are good with the P pads most of the time and sometimes their hands and feet are on them but somehow Smiths. Do you have any suggestions on getting them on the schedule in the situation?
@DoodlesofNC
@DoodlesofNC Жыл бұрын
Definitely check out Baxter and Bella! Use the code doodlesofnc to get 25% off. They can help you with lots of training questions ! But my biggest idea to start with - is containing them in a small enough area but they’re going to hold it. If they are nine months old, they should be able to hold it throughout the day at least four hours at a time.

When we are talking to prospective puppy parents (especially if they've never owned a golden before) we always tell them what to expect and don't sugar coat anything. The last thing we want is to have to rehome a puppy. Something else to mention is how they are bad to chew on/eat things that can make them sick or kill them. We just learned of one of our past doodles that died from eating something they shouldn't. She had just turned two 😥

@elizabethmason9862

We got a puppy at 75. He's given us lots of laughs and is now starting to settle down at 9 months. Older, trained dog would certainly be easier. Check out KZbin channel Dreamgaits for a recent video comparing puppy vs. older dog. Our puppy came from this breeder, and now she has some adult dogs to rehome. We had lost a beloved old dog and didn’t want to wait “forever” for a totally suitable solution.

Consider this, if puppy/dog lives for 10-15 years, will you still be able to care for them at 85-90yrs? Sadly I see seniors that having to give up their dogs because they themselves are now disabled and the dogs are horribly maintained/sickly too. Also a highly energetic dog would definitely be challenging. Most of the GSD in my area are way too much dog for the owners, even the men. An ultimate lap dog, perhaps might be fine.

Similar to a poodle, high energy hunting water dog. All the doodles in my area, especially the larger ones, lots of energy, too much for a child under 10yrs, especially if the dog decides to take off running/lunging. Owners are ignorant/naive to what training is required. The poodles are better behaved because the family understand the training requirements.

Someone please help me. I got a cockapoo at 8 weeks old. She’s about 10 weeks now. I’m having serious bitting issues with her . I have read just about everything I could online on, how to redirect your puppy when they are bitting. I have bought toys, bones and tons of teething toys. I’m marked all over my arms from her. The simple bit as turned into a clamp down growling bite. If I can’t get her too stop, I will have to rehome her. The breeder that I bought her from her just keep saying she didn’t bite when they had her “ . She was only 8 week old by the time I picked her up. I’m just devastated over all of this. Daisy deserves so much better, but her aggressive behavior will lead me to rehome her. Can someone give me some directions of what else I can do. This envelope is simply not healthy for either one of us.

Definitely join Baxter and Bella. They have amazing trainers you can zoom with . Showing them exactly what she’s doing will help. We love yak cheese, frozen wash cloths, frozen peanut butter filled kongs. When she does that you need to place her in her crate so she knows it’s a separation and the behavior isn’t ok. If your nervous about reaching for her - have a long leash where you can get to her easily. I hope this helps.
