Here's a TIP on mangoes 🥭 I've worked many years in grocery stores and around produce. Mangoes are at their sweetest peak when you can press your thumb gently into them and the skin DOES NOT spring back. This is the point when stores discard the product. You can purchase mangoes and let them set out (keep them in a way fruit flies can't get to them) and they will continue to ripen like bananas do. A really ripe and sweet mango - you should be able to score the skin ans peel it like a banana. I hope this helps and that you try it again.

Regarding the pet food... love that you found a moment to share that in this space as it is somehting I often think about. My husband jokes our pups eat better than he does. I feed our 3 year old pair of Black & Tan Coonhound fur kids raw meat & fish, souse vide meat & veggies and the only 2 HUGE reasons I dont buy freeze dried anything for them commercially is 1) the expense 2) the amount I would need to buy to meet their nutritional needs would be so out of my price range. You didn't mention pricing... but OH MY. My Wiley Barnes eats 3 lbs of meat, veggies and bone a day! And that is just 1 puppers! But I do admit that one of the reasonos I want to get a freeze drier is to be able to have their food done and stored in case we need it. For me it would be venison, chickens, turkey, eggs... my problem is I know too much about dog nutrition and know that so many can't afford to feed their kids well, never mind the pets. But keep featuring those things, it's important to broaden yur audiences horizons. PS: The FDA requirements for pet food are as stringent as they are for food.

Thank you so much for the comment and information. I’ve heard it’s a very strict category for fda so it’s something you need to do research on before beginning. The cost is very similar to freeze dried anything on the human consumption side. I think a freeze dryer for personal use for your pets and your family would be paid back very quick but as a business it’s a high end pet product so the people that can afford it will buy it. Thank you for all the resources and great content. I did a lot of "research" before buying my freeze drier to start a side business but now that its here (3 weeks ago) I am struggling. I had an epic candy overflow disaster that took hours to clean up my first run so I'm a little gun shy. Your videos have been so helpful in getting me headed in the right direction. I definitely have done mangoes. I love them freeze ride. But I don’t sell the mango freeze ride. I have done it for myself. I eat two eggs and mango every morning for breakfast. Probably almost 4 years now. So the mangoes aren’t so good because it’s a little bit out of season which I’ve come across. I can go to them or I have some it’s in the freezer just to thaw out in small amounts per day. But I like the mangoes freeze dry just like I do the apples with cinnamon and the pineapple. But I’m sure that I will bring the mangoes back to more fresh with some water put to them when it’s time. But I have a number of containers of mangoes on purpose.

I wonder if it is the type of mango you used that was the problem. Mangoes are my favourite fruits in the freeze dryer, and I can't keep them in the house. We use Ataulfo mangoes. I did a different kind once and was disappointed. I think you should try again. They are delicious just plain sliced. I did some frozen mangoes from a store once that were in chunks, and they were not great. Crisp mango slices are delicious

My understanding is that animal food is more highly regulated than human food. Government testing etc. will required and us expensive.

I sell skincare at live events. I make all the products over 100. Expect that about 5% will visit your booth and 1% will make a purchase. So at events where we have 50,000 people we make about $1,000-$5,000. We do a minimum of 9 events a month year round and about 112 events each year. Before Covid we did 14 a month but we were glad to cut back. Smaller events you can make more percentage wise sometimes because there is less choice available.

Those prices are seriously off the hook! This is a common current problem that brewing out there.. across the board.. EVERYONE IS JACKING EVERYONE. Look running a freeze dryer ISNT ROCKET SCIENCE and in the grand scheme of things isnt all that exspensive anymore.
