Serena Smith is a host, producer, writer, and dancer who has interviewed GOATs like Gloria Steinem, Pharrell Williams, Misty Copeland, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Gabriela Cámara, alongside too many friends and strangers to count. A four-time Emmy nominee, she was formerly Supervising Creative Producer at MasterClass - where she directed series spanning from food to feminism and won a James Beard Award - and Senior Producer at Larry King Now, which included writing the host’s questions and interviewing guests. She got her start in the industry working for Oprah Winfrey, was a restaurant critic in Chicago, and during one college winter break played a fairy princess who granted children wishes. It was magnificent.
Raised in Montreal, Vancouver, and Chicago, Serena graduated from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism with a minor in psychology and an incorrigible curiosity about the human condition. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, ‘On the Table’ director Ian Smith, and their remarkable community of friends. If you need her, chances are she’s onstage at Stud Country.

It’s only recently (after I’d seen him in a few things) that I realised Zane is a REALLY good actor. He acts with insight and intelligence and he does so much more than just say lines and pull faces (like a lot of actors). He deserves a BIG break because I really think his career could be amazing. He’s got that special quality but he’s also very grounded. What’s not to love? ❤

Zane is smart, and so is his boyfriend Froy, please tell him to continue and persist with his leading role goal, because I would like to see him OR his boyfriend in a leading film role. Action, drama, rom-com, something, would be INCREDIBLE. Froy has the lead role in the Strangers, but it's a horror so we won't know how long he'll last 😥Zane and Froy are opening the door for so many!

Loved everything about this conversation, only wish it were longer. Zane is a captivating individual and this interview really showed his complexity and vulnerability in a way that felt warm and authentic. Probably because he was speaking with a friend and skilled host in Serena. I also noticed how both Serena & Zane responded more to the orange drink that was originally Serena’s but she made sure he had it.
