The mics sounds better in an A/B situation but I can see the benefits to owning one. I'll stick to a loud amp, SM57 and CAB for now. I always use Amp Sims for recording and then reamp if necessary.

I LOVE my Ox Box. I have it since almost the first ones came out and used it extensively. The only thing that compares to that is when I put the DI out of my Fryette Power Station through Unison preamps from UA and finish it with high quality IRs in the DAW + room IRs. But as you said, what’s the point for that hassle then… If only the attenuator in the Ox would live up to the rest of its performance, then it would be the total package 💪 Gruß aus Stuttgart

You will love it! Unless you want it mainly for the power attenuation. That’s not the best. Haha! But the lead box ( = load box *edit) side of it with the cab simulations (which is its main feature) is absolutely wonderful. Cheers and thanks for the kind words.
@theboofin3 жыл бұрын
@@KrisBarocsi No, Id use it purely for the emulations. Used modellers for ever but never quite got what I wanted. In all the reviews, the OX has always sounded great.

In the section what is the ox box, there was no explanation what it is. I must have missed it, but I’m well into the video and seeing settings, but not what it is. Cab simulator? Attenuator? Both? Who are the audiences that would use it? I’d be cool if that was summed up early so I could know if it’s valuable to keep watching.

Are the delay and reverb presets on the Ox usable directly hooked up to a cab or only through an interface and software on a computer? I was kind of hoping to be able to hear the effects through the cab and also record into an interface at the same time without micing the cab. My amp doesn't have an effects loop
@KrisBarocsi2 ай бұрын
@@AchillesWrath1 No, that’s not possible. The attenuator section of the OX is fully analog, no fx there. Only through the line outputs together with the cab simulation. If you want an attenuator that actually has an fx loop try out the Fryette Power Station. 👍
@AchillesWrath12 ай бұрын
@@KrisBarocsi Thanks, i've looked into the Power Station but i've read the loop isn't included in the line out. It's tapped directly off the preamp before the effects loop. Guess i'm striking out. Now i'm wondering about the Boss Waza Tae if it can do both. I know it has built in effects and an effects loop like the power station just not sure about the effects being sent along to a recording interface as well

Thanks Kris for that great video! At the end there I prefered the Ox simulation sound tho. 📢 When you are playing live with your band, is it mostly cab with mic, Ox and cab with Mic or Ox direct into the pa? As band mates and sound guys sometimes complain about the "loud" guitarist 🙈
@KrisBarocsi4 жыл бұрын
victorious_s88 I’m lucky to be playing in a rock band and Turn up my Revv to a proper volume. That’s about as loud as the drummer is. If I had to turn it way down, I’d use the Ox to attenuate it . or even only use the simulated out without a cab. But for that you need really good monitoring. Haha!

Hi Kris. About the phasing issue. Is it possible to have phasing issue with a real cab ( same cab and mic on both sides ) or is it only a phenomenon that occurs with a setup like Ox or for example two notes stuff.
@PooNinja4 жыл бұрын
Oh finding that happy place between 0 and 1 is eliminated with the OX 🤘🏽 I’m still to small to need one but I love how far we have come from just having power break style non reactive loads .... The end of that sounded dirty but it’s not 😂

Hello Kristóf!Which would You prefer to keep the original sound of your high quality tube amp?OX Box or the Fryette PS2 ?Im using the Fryette for attenuation and for home guitar „fun“ and it really does a great job in my opinion...on the other hand I’m really interested in the different cab simulations of the OX Box... I would be really interested in Your opinion since I’m a huge fan of this channel of yours.Ps.Could have written in hungarian too but I guess it would have been unfair to the millions of others they’re reading these comments 😉Best greetings and keep up the good job Sir!Zsolti

Paul Dugdale Thanks Paul! KoT: I’ll have an awesome meme for you soon on insta. Are you following me there? 😉 Switching cabs: you can’t do that unfortunately. The footswitch will let you control the effects (eq, delay, reverb and comp) but not the rigs. I’m not sure if that’s bad, but it’s definitely a limitation. Maybe they will change that in the next update. 🤷♂️

Nice video. Question -how does it differs "under the fingers"?Almost nobody ever talks about this particular topic, especially when evaluating digital stuff as IR, Kemper, AXE... I'm not interested in sound as much as what different feel it gives you, is more muting necessary, easier to play feel, ecc. Hey new project idea -take new HB fusion T and make it proper bridge/pickguard/electronics/relic tele like :D

A colleague actually bought it. 😂 cheers!

@@KrisBarocsi Thanks! I'm really intrigued. I know that i went over the topic (you are playing a real amp after all) but i only have experience with older digital pedals and daw emulations. It always feels as you have to dial way way more distortion to come close to sustain,compression and feel that real tube amp have.

stanislavmigra I bet Dan and Mick of That Pedal Show wouldn’t agree with you. Haha! Truth is, if you don’t have a proper studio with awesome high end mics and preamps, the Ox will probably sound better. And it’s also sooo much faster to produce an awesome guitar sound with it compared to micing the amp. I save hours of editing in my DAW per video. I love it. Cheers mate!

@@KrisBarocsi if guys like Rabea or Ola Englund are recording thru Ox(like), there must be something to it. For recording like proper LP, things will change dramaticaly, but considering youtube compreassion, OX looks like win win.

The amp sounds better, but OX definitely sounds better than an amp sim
@KrisBarocsi4 жыл бұрын
Jordan Smith Thanks for the comment Jordan! Well you know, I was really unhappy with my mic sounds so I had to spend quite some time with fixing Phase issues and such in the DAW whilst editing the video. With the OX, it was all fine and I didn’t have to do anything in the computer. I think that alone is a really important factor. It really kills the workflow when you’re spending so much time with trouble shooting and fixing. You’re also right though, when the mic positions are good and everything works fine, mics can sound a little more „real“.

what if I have a combo amp? can I still use the OX BOX?
@beachhunting694 жыл бұрын
Felipe...I think you can but you will need another cable (male/female adapter). As long as your combo amp has a cable with a male input going into the speaker, from the amp section, you can disconnect that and then chain the cables from the amp to Ox Box. I believe there are videos/instructions on how to do it. I can't explain it in full detail but it can be done as long as your speaker on your combo amp is not hardwired/soldered in. Also...it's gotta be a valve amp but you probably know that already. Since your post is 5 months old, you may have already figured it out !

@@beachhunting69 thanks a lot for your answer. I play now only with plugins of neural dsp. I do not use amps anymore. I live in a Department and a combo was too much for my neighbors.
