I had a really bad day recently. When I came back home from work and heard that my mother was diagnosed with a severe illness, I was very devastated. I couldn't sleep well until four in the morning. I was not really in the mood to go to work or talk with anyone. But then, I tried to grab something to eat and drive my scooter to work. On the way to work, I had to weave in and out of sluggish traffic. There was a feeling of emptiness and frustration in me. I just thought about my mother as well as medical treatments for her illness. At work, I received my students' results in a Cambridge English exam. I was quite disappointed that one of my students failed the exam. I wanted to cry like a kid, but I couldn't do that in front of my colleagues. Some of my students asked me if I was ok or not. I just nodded at them and we said goodbye to each other. I quietly left the school and got in my scooter. On the way home, I was caught in a torrential downpour. Finally, to cap it all, I realized that I had left my phone and some important documentaries at the workplace. That was one of the worst days in my life.
@Oxfordonlineenglish14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing another excellent response, Vy Ngo! Here are a few suggestions for you: 1) '...with anyone, but I decided to...' not, '...with anyone. But then...'. 2) '...got on my scooter,' not, 'in'. 3) 'important documents,' not, 'documentaries'. Hope this helps you!

Hello from Ukraine 🇺🇦 🇺🇦 🇺🇦! I am proud of my English because it’s developing together with such incredible channel like this one! While I watch it I realise that my skills has been getting higher and really modern, and useful as well! When you give me some bright or even simple response my motivation improves, and getting higher my interest in activity on your page! Sometimes I have many words to say, and I’d like to use it in my affair. Who knows what it will bring in my future but some actions and small talks among English speaking community satisfied my principle desire to make my own world wider and comfortable. P. S. I write some comments only on a channel in whose job I’m interested mostly. Live and learn it’s my own credo, and despite some difficulties I’ve been following my dream.

Very useful information, that you don't often learn in classical English classes in France where you usually learn to express your ideas about politics or economics but then you don't know how to talk about everyday life. Like I remember an English couple asking me about buses to go a memorial in my hometown and I felt stupid about my approximate English to explain the direction instead of just showing. Anyway, I laughed all through the video to all the bad things happening to that person, what a bad luck! As far as I'm concerned, I tossed ans turned a lot and woke up several times tonight because I was too hot and then I overslept and woke up later than I wanted to but today's national day in France so fortunately I'm not working :)

The other day I had a really bad day. I was tossing and turning all night. I fell asleep around 4 am but still, I woke up at 7 before my alarm went off. I was grumpy all morning, I could hardly pull myself together, so I was also late for work. When I got home I was still in a bad mood so I fell out with my family as if everything was their fault. Before dinner, I got a call from my friend saying that she had had a minor accident. She did not get injured but my car damaged. I was totally devastated, I did not want to talk to anybody but watching a good movie and sipping tea. But, to cap it all I broke my favourite mug while making tea. At that point, I thought that it was the worst day in my life but later I realized that it depends on how I take look back on that day. It could be worse:)
@Oxfordonlineenglish13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing a great response. Nice job. Here are a few suggestions for you: 1) 'She did not get injured but my car was damaged,' not, 'but my car damaged'. 2) It might be better to say: 'I did not want to do anything but watch a good movie and sip tea,' instead of, 'I did not want to talk to anybody but watching a good movie and sipping tea'. 3) '...depends on how I take a look back on that day,' or, '...depends on how I look back on that day,' not, 'depends on how I take look'. Hope this helps you!

Last Friday was a completely terrible day for me. I wake up early in the morning like normal for my morning exercise. When i was running around a park, i stepped on a dog poop. I came back home because i couldn't stand the smells of poop anymore. When i arrived my house, i found out that i forgot my key, i tried to call my son but he was asleep and seemed to can not hear nothing, so i was locked out until my son got up. I did not have enough time for my bathing after doing excercise or even time for breakfast. I hurriedly drove to office, and it was the second time in my day that i forgot something as I forgot the slide that I prepared the night before for the presentation about our new product.
@Oxfordonlineenglish14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the lesson and sharing your response, Diana! You used some good vocabulary and sentence structure. Here are some corrections for you: 1) 'I woke up early,' not, 'wake'. 2) '...I stepped in dog poop,' not, '...i stepped on a dog poop'. 3) '...couldn't stand the smell of...' not, 'smells'. Hope this helps you!
