15:48 If it is No, then how would you write the same paragraph knowing that Wainwright's was founded in Chacago, then based in NY for several years and then came back to Chicago again. I would say the same as it is written: "now based in Chacago". So you're assuming that it was founded not in Chicago, but this "now" just means that previous location is not Chicago. But this previous location might not be a place of foundation. It's not enough information and such an assumption is not really correct. So the answer is "Not Given", nothing close to "No".

Thanks a ton, Martin, for these awesome tips. I am little unclear at 17:01. Should not we consider "sought" as a (distant) synonym for "own"? Your feedback means a lot to me. Thanks.
@Oxfordonlineenglish1
@Oxfordonlineenglish1 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Arun. Here, 'sought after' is an adjective phrase that means desired, or in demand. So it cannot be a synonym (or distant synonym) for 'own' because it represents something people don't own yet, but want.

Part 5 Question 3 : Wainright's was found in Chicago: I would have done: not given. The text don't say where was it found.You may say that the fact that it's said that Wainrigt is now in Chicago suggest that it was not found in Chicago but the real truth is not given
@Oxfordonlineenglish1
@Oxfordonlineenglish1 6 жыл бұрын
As the video explains, the word 'now' in the text means that Wainwright's used to be based elsewhere; otherwise, there would be no reason to use the word 'now' in that sentence.

Sometimes another scientist’s opinion is denied by the actual writer of the passage so Question would be T or F; what if we find two contradictory statements within a passage
@Oxfordonlineenglish1
@Oxfordonlineenglish1 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Manpreet, there will always be one correct answer in a passage. That's why it's important to pay attention to supporting modal verbs, phrasal verbs, and the differences between the facts that are given and speculation. Sometimes, something might seem contradictory, but that is because the test wants you to be able to identify the differences between the listed facts and what the writer 'thinks' or 'speculates' about something. Hope this helps you!

@Oxfort Online English. With the first text it's understendable. But with Y/N/NG i'm begging for differ. Leading exporter yes, but NotGiven. Own by many - yes but NotGiven(T/F/NG). So you've said about the opinion to consider, but you missed yours idea tackeling the second text. I believe so.
