I would strongly recommend to get hold of a FRT-7700 antenna tuner for this radio. It works superb in combination with the Ala-1530. You have full sensitivity on the low bands and get rid of cross modulation, to which the FRG-7700 is slightly susceptible. Best 73, Stephan

Very good I did the same to my 7700 before even turning on for the first time. It was shipped from FLA but not packed well & got beat up, magnifying dial lens broke inside the face & the hit took out the digital display but still works well with the analog dial, Its a shame because on the outside it still looks minty.

Thanks Clint and Greg for a great tip! I'll do that with my 7700 asap. I'm having a hassle with my 8800, from 11 mhz and below, sensitivity drops off considerably. Any thoughts? I'm hoping its not pin diodes and something like the 7700 fix. Otherwisr a nice radio. Anothet great video Clint. Cheets...... Phil vk2gjf

Thanks Phil. Indeed, a great tip from Greg. I'm not sure what the problem might be with your 8800. I have problems with mine from time to time - it just locks up and loses the display. I think it's an over-heating issue - but it only happens now and again and alwasys seems to resolve itself. Radio Cruncher could fix it for you - he fixed up my 7700. Thanks again and good luck, 73!
