I have really enjoyed being subscribed to your series, and learning about your preparation. Now that your adventure has officially started, I look forward to each new video even more, as it is the fruits of all your hard labor. I realize how difficult it is to film and edit these, but your handwork doesn't go unnoticed. For someone working a normal job in the United States, living a pretty standard life, your videos offer a nice view of the world. Your videos take me where I cant go myself! Be safe!

I spent heaps of time at Youdales as a kid, its an amazing place. The more I read about it the more I realise how special it to so many different folk. When it was taken over by the NP I was somewhat angry, but in time it has proved to preserve the natural, aboriginal and pastoral history of the place. There are some great walks around it as well, such as Kemps Pinnacle, Mt Banda and Marys View (back towards the coast). You could do a blog on those spots alone. Great blog, will have to follow your travels.

+Peter Taylor Thanks Peter. Yes loved my time there. Very relaxing when all alone for 3 days. Didn't get around to the walks though, may add that to a future adventure on my next trip around.

+AllOffroad.com.au Yes.. it had a good flow to it. Had to walk it first to set up the camera. Nearly got swept away! One of my favourite spots during my round australia trip.

Great video Brett. I'm a new 4x4 driver. May I ask what gear and range settings you were in as you crossed the fast flowing creek about 2.55m into your video? I'm guessing you also walked across first to both gain the depth and stability as you carried your camera over. Thanks as always. Love your work!
@RoamingTheOutback6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matthew. Yes I walked the creek first to test depth and bottom for hardness. Nearly lost my footing and took a dip in. From memory I would have been in low range 1st, as my car doesn't have much power so I wanted maximum throttle response and power. The current was also quite strong so for me even 2nd gear may have been too high if the engine couldn't cope propelling through the water. I didn't want to risk stalling in the middle and getting pushed down stream.. at least in first gear I can over rev the engine keeping it going no matter what. For something more powerful low 2nd may have been better as it would get more speed and wouldn't over rev the engine.. just something you need to learn with your car what the engine is capable of.
