Even though it's not as great as the original it still captured many great things that the original had with some areas I actually find exceeded the original. The difference between me and other fans is I didn't watch this movie already thinking it was going to be bad. If you go into a movie nitpicking every error then of course you're not going to enjoy it. As a person growing up with Thunderbirds, I have to admit, there are some things of this movie that weren't entirely faithful to the 1965 series, but I have to say, I think this scene was pretty epic and worthy of getting goosebumps with how awesome it was. I'm glad they featured Thunderbird 4 in a cinematic movie when in the previous films "Thunderbirds Are Go" and "Thunderbird 6" it only had brief cameos. Though I'm not a fan of the design or how it was hard to see Thunderbird 4 in most scenes, but WOW the Monorail Rescue was very well done. :) You know the Hood was really getting his revenge on International Rescue when he pulled off that move with the Mole which caused the Monorail to fall with men, women AND children in it. The Monorail would have to be one of the only few elements incorporated from the 1965 series and I'm glad they featured it. Originally Sylvia Anderson was meant to cameo in the Monorail but that scene wasn't featured. Oh, the moment where Thunderbird 4 rises with the Monorail, PURE epicness! I get goosebumps from it. Yeah, while the movie didn't satisfying to some, they did do SOME things right. THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!

The scene where Thunderbird 4 raises to the surface actually had a soundtrack that was a throwback to Operation Crash Dive when Fireflash surfaced after Gordan cut the engines off.

One thing I always appreciated about Thunderbirds was similar to what I loved about Star Trek. In a lot of sci-fi, we only see advanced technology as means of war. In Star Trek, the most advanced technology was about the question "What is out there?". In Thunderbirds, it was "How can we help?".

I think one major issue was deaging two characters into teens. The fact that thunderbird 2 had both the mole and thunderbird 4 was a major plothole.
@joelmulder Жыл бұрын
@@drmayeda1930 It’s not a plot hole. The 2004 Thunderbird 4 is a different design from the Thunderbird 2 seen in the series. Rather than having a hollow section in the middle and carrying pods, each with one vehicle each, it’s cargo bay area is part of the main fuselage and can carry multiple different vehicles. As for de-aging the characters. I agree, but then again, it was a movie aimed at kids, not adults, and it’s nice for kids to have someone closer their age to identify with. Good god, this movie just screams early 2000s energy. It was the first film i watched as a kid with heavy cgi and couldn’t get over the machinery animations (though it’s hilarious seeing how aged the rendering looks now). Even though I liked this movie, I never replaced it for the original 1965 series and watched both happily. I certainly couldn’t watch this movie with the same enthusiasm as the series now unfortunately, but what people forget is this would have been made for millennial kids, not audiences of the original series. I remember I watched a documentary of the making of this movie and I’m sure the producers made it clear they were never trying to better Gerry Anderson’s work as they knew they’d never live up to that kind of legacy. They could only make something that would entertain modern kids and hey, it most likely got a whole new generation of people interested in the original, helping to keep it alive, so I think while not popular with most, this was certainly necessary.

The idea of The Hood seeking revenge on International Rescue after being left for dead (during a mining collapse wherein IR was, for some reason, unable to save everyone) is a good idea for a second or third installment of a franchise, not such a good idea right out of the gate. If they had played this first movie straight and just had some normal rescue scenes, it might have been considered passable, even with all its other flaws. Take a cue from Iron Man, don't shoehorn a Ben Kingsley/revenge plot into your movie until the at least the third installment.

It also annoys me that Alan and Fermat (who shouldn't even exist) are supposed to be the same age but Alan looks at least ten years older. Eh at least Tintin is a lot less annoying in this than she was in the puppet series. I'm so glad they replaced her with Kayo.

If you didn’t know it, not one of the three films that have been made were a success. There’s even rumours Gerry Anderson was given a showing before the movie premiered and said he was very happy and then changed his story after the premier. It’s closer to the original than Thunderbirds Are Go, they can’t even get there hair colour right. Gordon carrys scuba tank as soon as they are going for a rescue, any rescue?? (That doesn’t even make sense.) Virgil wears also something that looks heavy, are they robots or clones that can carry something heavy and it doesn’t bother them. Maybe they are, nothing except for recently hurts them, John has run out of air Alan saves him but seconds later he’s fine to get control of Thunderbird 5. Gradma’s a bad cook, in the original all they do is say how great it is, and that they scoff her pies when ever cooked. As for the Machines, the Mole, Firefly they are made on the fly in TAG universe, no 6 different pods all with different equipment with the excitement of which pod is going to be used. Thunderbird 3 looks pretty the same to me as the original, I never saw the three arms move in the original series or the movies. Yes Thunderbird 2 is quite different, they only did this because a engineer told them that the original Thunderbird 2 would never work, the wing design or the idea for pods?? Give us a series like this with people, Alan and high school, family disagreements, they aren’t perfect, nether were the original puppets they got into many scrapes, family squabbles about family life to how to perform a rescue. In TAG universe they seem to be able to anything, even the Grandma as long as it’s not cooking. And just to add who would let their own grandma fix up the pool furniture after every time they open the pool for Thunderbird 1. Give her some help, a Karano or a Ohana maybe they could do the cooking as well. What billionaires don’t have some servants of some type to help them with the menial chores. Now that speaks wealth.

Been a Thunderbirds fan since my dad introduced me to it at the age of 6. And believe it or not, I actually _like_ this movie! Only things I hated was the fact that they made Gordon an ASTRONAUT…kinda breaks a whole lot of lore and continuity established in the OG show. Like, he was never connected to the Stingray or the WASP of Marineville? I consider that an insult to the series.

Best part of the movie, which was okay when it dealt with what Thunderbirds is supposed to be about -- rescues! The rest -- the Spy Kids stuff -- was pretty dire. Even the theme song got it wrong: IR is a rescue organisation, not the World Police.

I wonder how big Thunderbird 2 actually is.
@GVTheRedStar3 жыл бұрын
Apparently in this movie it has a 34m wingspan and a 46m length
@TimeMasterOG2 жыл бұрын
Based on a video about the classic series TB2 the length of the craft is 250 feet and has a 180 ft wingspan. That equates to 76.2m long with a 54.864m long wingspan (ofc this isnt for the newer ones)

As much flak as this film gets, this scene at least would be acceptable in any thunderbirds movie. It's the right sort of rescue.

Tips on how to make this movie better: 1)make alan pilot of thunderbird 3 from the start 2) make alan a bit older 3) make the cockpits less cheap looking, focus more on functionality than style
