Big improvement. It's these little details in the shop that make EVERY job seem to go faster. Organization and properly secured equipment really help to minimize the accidents, too. The rounded top of the new cart actually offer a little protection to the valves and gauges, too.. should anything drop or fall that way. I always look forward to your videos Jimbo!

Remove guard from your BurrKing & use the wheels to sand dross from inside radius of pipe. Guards are great for safety, Jimbo, but you gotta use the tool to it's full design capability! Thanks again for all you do to teach all of us!

That's a big improvement. I've had my torch since I was 18, it was the first piece of welding equipment I ever bought. Now I only use it to heat stuff up.

Flap drum or round stone on a die grinder is the ticket for dross on an inside radius. I deal with that at least twice a week, so I figured it out quick. Makes it easier if you just make a knockoff bar from a chunk of round bar with a 1/4 of a section of 6" pipe welded on the end with a bevel ground on the inside edge of the pipe. Use it like you would a chipping hammer for dross on flat stock. Way quicker, even if you have to tap it with a hammer every section. You burn through way less flap/sanding drums, too.👍

I know from experience how important it is to plan your work. Too many mistakes, but week after week, you show your skill level by building things on the fly. It’s so impressive. I try not to do the same thing because I don’t have the foresight to avoid mistakes. Great work Jimbo! Jimbo

Good video. Most carts I have seen on construction sites are basically unstable, especially with tall cylinders. The Compressed Gas Association Standard allows cylinder positioning 45 degress and OSHA has concurred with this in a recent letter. Carts with rear wheel(s) now safe for delivering of actylene gas without expelling the stabilization agent (acteone).

Good job Jimbo I've found that most of the time I'm better off using a grinder with a cutoff wheel than to have to clean up something that I cut with a torch or plasma cutter

Great recycle and build. The old green one made by Anthony has a whole line of 'tank dollies' as well but they are pricey. Very functional, the only thing I don't like is Harbor Freight, but that's just me. They sell mostly junk and you always get what you pay for. I have replaced all my dollie wheels with solid tires from Ace. Did the same on my generators and power washers as well that didn't already have a better tire. I have never had any luck with anything from HF. That is one nice tank set now Jimbo and as always, your videos are great.
@mikel95675 жыл бұрын
Anything can be "junk". I have had name brand products turn out to be junk. I have had success with Harbor Freight. In fact, when I used to do cable and fiber installations, all my hand tools and drill were Harbor Freight. I used their Bauer cordless drill and it holds it's own against my buddies that have DeWalt. Now to be honest, I used HF because I didn't want expensive tools getting broken or stolen. I'd rather lose a $70 drill than a $300 one. Considering all the stuff that is name brand, which is made in China I think HF gets a bad rep.

Jimbo, I just saw that you had trouble with the dross after plasma cutting that tube. Been there done that. You should try plasma cutting tube/pipe like that *from the inside*. It might be tougher to scribe the cut line on the inside but that way you can simply knock/chip the dross off with a regular chipping hammer on the outside of the curved part. Wayyy easier than trying to grind it off the inside curve. Try it!

The weak link in your build is those crappy harbor freight tires. You can build the same cart with wheel hubs from a trailer or from a small car and use trailer tires and/or space saver tires from a car. As soon as you roll your cart on rough terrain, those tires will blow, leaving the tanks unstable and a safety hazard.

With all the grinding, do you have a lot of sweep up to do? I’m thinking about making something similar to the stand up welding shields to prevent all the grinding dust from getting all over. If it lands on any nice painted surfaces it can sometimes stick to the paint and ruin it. (Ask me how I know lol) Also remember that “dust” is not good for you lathe or milling machine ways. Thanks for all your videos.

Looks great! I just started welding so sorry for the dumb question but I noticed you weld right over the paint and rust. I thought you had to have clean metal before you weld. I know this isn’t a heavy duty structural thing but wouldn’t welding through the paint and rust contaminate the weld and weaken it? Thanks to anybody who can answer this and give a little insight.

Its best to weld clean material but a lot of time you can burn thru it just fine.
