As an admirer of JMJ's works, and being a composer in the vintage field myself, listening to this track was audio gold! The warmth and clarity of the Sound - mixed with slightly more modern elements - was wonderful. Also it is great that you didn't do a cover song of one JMJ works, but created an original hybrid concept. Very much enjoyed it, well done! Artwork is super too.

been a fan since the first " oxygene in 1977,been hooked ever since , I v,e bought many synthesizer keyboards over the years and annoyed my "mum" in my bedroom like so many of us,in the late 70,s to the early 80,s but "hey"this was ourtime, and influenced by the "Master" !! keep it going ,poddi , it,s beautiful, we all know who the master is, and being "reminded " who it is, just adds to the fun, thank you "poddi music" keep the rythym going for the future generations, in an ever changing world, this is "essential" love from England.....🥳🥳🥳🥳

Thanks for a great track. I sincerely hope you consider making this an integral part of a complete, long-piece album. A couple of other, hopefully constructive thoughts… First, for me, JMJ went massively downhill AFTER Zoolook (let’s forget about the Supermarket) and I would love to hear something created in the Zoolook vein, as I don’t know anything like it. Secondly, I’m sure you’ll have heard the work of Madis, who has also done a great job in re-imagining JMJ’s great works. It’s so great to have creative artists like you. Thank you! (PS Madis has recently become a bit ‘samey’ and populist, and I’m hoping he will re-capture his creativity)
@poddimusik Жыл бұрын
Hey Barry, thank you for your thoughts. Yes, i know MADIS as a great artist and i like his sound very much. I agree that JMJ's sound changed within the popularity of sampling instruments - the same as my sound changed after i bought my first sampler in the nineties (Ensoniq ASR-10 which i use as my masterkeyboard until today). I hope that i'm able to do other songs in the style of JMJ within the next years in combination with my personal style. At the moment i try to do a house track with a taste of JMJ. But i have to say, that this is not easy. Each time i try this i stop after a couple of hours and delete the construct. Maybe the Winter is not the best time for me to check new ideas 🙂
@Cragsidebaz Жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks for your interesting and super-prompt reply! Good luck with House v JMJ. Can see why that could be very difficult, but how about Dance v JMJ? ThomasH has done a really nice version of Equinoxe 4. And as for Winter blues, how about DT8 for some inspiration? kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2KUhZKPa6Z7qtU

Constructive criticism. You have all the sounds and styling of Jarre and hark back to the days of his early work using analog synths. These were his best years and he did a lot of good melodic music with distinctive tunes, these types of synths lent itself to that. When digital synths came along he went into long periods of self indulgence using them but lost sight of the fact that he was capable of writing distinctive tunes and arrangements that bordered on the potential of a modern day classical music, definitely in sections. Since digital sounds, (aside from the odd track) only when he reverted back to analog did he approach anything good, like the continuation of Oxygene. Funny how it panned out like that. I think your structuring is pretty good and I hope you have it in you to write some distinctive and memorable tunes over it. This is what I think you should move towards in my opinion. If you really analyze his early stuff, the tunes were very simple but highly effective. These observations are not meant to be hurtful or aggressive In anyway. I'm just egging you on to strive for excellence.
@poddimusik Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your criticism. I see it the same way you do, when digital devices became available Jean-Michel Jarre's sound changed, see Zoolook. He was and still is a virtuoso on his instruments. I will produce similar old style music from time to time. Thanks again!

Interesting idea. Two small complaints though. The overall sound is a bit too compressed. There is too much inherent loudness. And the "drums" part is a bit too "crisp". Other than that - great work.
