jeshedu Yadav No , when you look at the heart from anterior try to look at the very lower left part (the left of the cadaver not your left) and the curved point is the apex , you can also google it

FINALLY A SIMPLE EXPLANATION!! I couldn't study this curve for weeks and now that I'm cramming for my exam, this lecture helped a lot. Especially when I saw how the curve is drawn and which side is which with the factors affecting it. Thank you so much!

Ive reviewed this concept every few years and its never stuck, but I think it will now--the way you tied in the muscles and lungs to the features that cause the curve to shift was extremely effective! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the question. I actually said that RBCs have a bulge in the middle because "they've lost their nucleus" (not elastic nucleus). Hope this clears it up.

In the past, I've always associated a shift to the R or L from normal as a pathologic process and not a naturally shifting occurrence throughout the body. Thanks for the clarification!

My MD told me my O2 hemoglobin saturation was lower than it should be, but couldn't explain well what that meant. Your lectures have been helpful in understanding what that meant.

Thank you very much for this video. My biochem book doesn't like to explain what cooperativity really is, nor does it explain the curve very well. Who knew it would only take 8 minutes to comprehend.

Great! This was a terrific refresher! It's been a long time since I learned this in vet school!! Funny how the importance of glycolysis/cell biology/biochemistry come back to haunt you - if only I'd realized way back then, perhaps I'd remember it better!

These videos are amazing. I am a paramedic with aspirations of going to medical school. Im learning a ton!!!! Can you please do a video on increased vascular permeability secondary to shock. I transport a lot of patients on levophed and other pressors. Id like some a more indepth look at the A&P of whats going on at the cellular level.

@megan moon. They said it was because by the time 3 oxygens have bound to Hb, it is more difficult for the fourth oxygen to bind because there is only one space left to fill. It's because the red blood cell has to bump around the right way to fill that last space with oxygen. So maybe the actual affinity for the fourth oxygen is higher still but it is harder to make it saturated because the red blood cell with the free space left for the fourth oxygen has to bump into an oxygen correctly for it to do bind and that is why the curve levels off?
