Dear Draegast, This is a message from a regular Dwarf Fortress-player. With great unease I have seen your recent endeavors into ONI and on behalf of your fellow duplicants I want to point out some optimizations in your cycle-to-cycle workflow. - Your prioritise tool has nine settings. You use three of them. "5", as it is the default, "6", which is a recurring maintenance task and "9", which is "very urgent, drop everything else". This is suboptimal. Consider using at most "8" (urgent) for anything that does not fit the definition of "9". Your wall (a great wall, though it feels a bit... hollow) is a "9". The rescue of Mystique is a "9". The expanding of your farming area is not. It's urgent ("8"), but if a catastrophe happens you want to really get them working by assigning a "9" to the catastrophe and not waste time by doing another not-catastrophe-urgent task. - About that hollow wall... Why not simply deconstruct on the right side one tile, build the two inside and rebuild the outer tile? - We in Dwarf Fortress have a long and outstanding history of stones littering everywhere. The usual answer to that is a stockpile. However sometimes the stockpile is full. In that case there can obviously only one solution. MORE STOCKPILES! (though some maniacs say that we should probably better control what we actually put in our stockpiles). Please have a look in your portal-room and notice the three red bars. The fourth green bar (the second from left) contains only seeds. You might want to reconfigure that. You need more stockpiles. - As I fear that you will forget it: Queue up a new Cot now. The next wave of Duplicants will arrive sooner than you think. - You are in the great position to select the most fitting duplicant to join your colony. They have many traits like "Decor Expectation", several positive and negative traits and attributes. Please read them. They are written there for a reason. I wish I could choose my immigrants... - Your ... "organic waste" area seems to produce some very foul gases. You might want to do something about that before it gets a problem. And one last piece of advice: If there is a fluid bothering you, drain it in the dark deep. If the deep is not accessible yet, dig a hole and let it drain in there. We have no experience with the wildlife around your colony, but if it is like ours, it probably can't swim (expect it's a carp, those are the worst) in hazardous liquids. Just don't forget to wall off the maintenance-shaft before flooding it. I have not played ONI myself, but these are the most obvious points I have found so far in your series. Oh, and you should totally try Dwarf Fortress. It has lots of FUN, seasons, dwarfs, production chains, flooding water, flooding lava, carps (

Flower pots do nothing unless you put a briar seed in them, also both types of oxygen producers you currently use actually consume algae which for the algae terrarium doesn't make sense, if it consumes co2 that would foster growth of new algae but ehhh game logic. You also want to stock up on plant seeds as much as possible from adjacent pockets. Invest in sanitation sciences asap as well you can then clean water and get better restrooms

My general approach is: Day 1: Beds, Storage Compactor and lots of digging. Day 2 Toilets, Research station. Research farming. Day 2 or 3: Oxygen production through the unlocked tech, food production. Day 4 onwards: Dig, expand oxygen/food farms. Research order: (farming), air/water pipes, sanitation, manual airlocks, decor, ...

few tips below, mostly recommendations, hopefully some valuable info. - you should put the research on auto, the button next to fabricate, that way you won't have to check every 10 min. and fill the queue again - you put too many oxygen generators next to cots, they won't work as you will reach maximum air pressure - you should leave holes/ladders in your floors so that CO2 can fall down and O2 can rise up (it can't go through wall), once you have gas permeable tile researched you can fill the holes with it - plants don't convert CO2 to O2 only the algae pot do - leaving wires in open will decrease decor, you should put them into wall and floor - wires, gas pipes and liquid pipes can be inside the titles and even all on top of each other - if you put the prio 9 on everything they will not know what to do first, you should grade the prio and leave 9 for thing that need to be done ASAP - sweeping should be low prio as they can pick stuff from ground to use it and should clean it only when they don't have more important things to do, so only put it on high prio when you really want to pick that up (before placing a wall blocking access to it)

Always remember too choose what type of material you use when you build something. Pause the game using ''space'' and look up in the panel next to the Item you click. As obsidian is stronger than Sandstone (I think) you should use it for walls next to water.

Draegast. If you don't want duplicated to stay in a specific room you can try to go to the options and set the duplicate with a specific job only that will make it force him to leave the room to do that job.

Game should offer another feature that makes Rimworld great... forbidden zones. During disasters you can restrict your colony to certain sections of the map that you designate like during a heat wave you can lock your colonists down indoors where there's AC to prevent heat stroke. It would be nice if you could forbid your people from crossing that tile wall so they would stop trying to gather resources from the poison side.

Draegast, you might want to use more numbers to organize your tasks. This will help you order then better and company what you are doing. Also, try checking everything when numbering tasks, it will help you avoid those crisis and losing efficiency. Love your videos and these series.

Draegast, If you click a character, you can select "Move". Then click where you want the character to move if they can move there. It might help you a bit ;). Alsom insted of que up (if you dont want to) press the circle arrow insted of fabricate. It will keep on doing the thing if you have materials. Good thing for like food and research.

You can choose the material from which to build tiles. Also as you advance and build new stuff temperature will become a problem. All my plants can't grow because of overheating. And more dupes means more CO2.

drae, if you cover the exposed wires and other cables and pipes with the tiles it gives you more decor, and vice versa if you leave them exposed it will remove decor. hope that helps :) PS I love your content

Hey drae, I see you like these types of games (survival base building). I just want to point out a game called RimWorld. It is really well done. It is like if this game was top down, had Prison Architect graphics and had your guy occasionally try to kill someone in a rage about their wife dying 2 weeks ago (true story).
