Hello all! Thanks for the constructive feedback, I have been reading it more closely. On the next episode I gut and refactor my power grid in an attempt to deal with the circuit overloads, and start to sequester my slime (don't quote that out of context) in a hermetically sealed room to quell the spread of germs and slimelung. Thanks for your patience as I slowly go from peanut mind to galaxy brain.

NL, if the default is priority 5, then anything above it is the highest priority. This means instead of making a thing priority 9 because it needs to be done immediately, change it to a 6. Then if something more urgent comes up you can make it a 7, then an 8, etc.
@SlashSabercat7 жыл бұрын
The wattage pulled is displayed over each item in the power view. You can run everything in series, like a chain, but keep it under 1kW for each length. For example, the lights are 30W each so you could have 33.33 (repeating of course!) lights in series on the standard wire. 120W devices, you can have 8 in series, 240W can have 4 or a combo of each but keep it under 1kW. hook you hydrogen generator to your batteries too!

Make the entire battery and generator area connected by hi-wattage wires; you're putting all the strain there on regular wires now, so they overload before the transformer can help.

The circuit was overloaded because of the hydrogen generator, no?
@derram0k7 жыл бұрын
Nope. You can generate an infinite amount of power and the wires will be fine. The problem comes from machines consuming more power than the wires can handle.
@ethanharvey69647 жыл бұрын
derram so wouldnt it be that if the hydrogen generator is running it is creating more power in the circuit so the wires are unableto handle it

Perhaps for the power you are getting strain because you are pulling twice the amount of power than a normal wire can handle. To fix this you need to have the normal wires pulling off a grid of heavy watt wires which have enough capacity to allow 2 normal wires to pull off.

You should probably just start a new colony at this point and try to incorporate what you learned about power in the next one, this colony is just a clusterfuck on so many levels even if you don't see it yet. I mean even when it just comes to the base layout, over the course of this entire series I'd say you've wasted 50+ days worth of algae and water with supplying unused areas of this huge base with oxygen and wasting water producing pointless mush loafs while meal lice rots away in the storage. All of these lamps of yours are completely pointless and just waste power since you don't need the decor boost and they don't affect meal lice growth, and those lamps together with your coal generators and your two dozen batteries heat up your base pretty fast, which will become a problem sooner rather than later when the heat stops your food from growing. Another thing is that you're close to running out of copper, since each of your batteries eats up 400 kg of raw metal that's basically 7.2 t. of copper ore that you're missing right now. You should also think about setting up a water system earlier, so that you can start recycling your water way ahead before water shortage starts becoming a problem, since that's another thing that this colony is close to running out of. There's still a lot of content that you haven't seen, there's a lot of stuff to find in all the other biomes too that you've barely explored yet since you're still in the starting zone. TL;DR: Fuck you egg

People are saying the hydrogen generator is the problem but from what I understand the problem is the consumption not the production of power. Am I wrong? I haven’t had this much power in the game before.
@zephranarx21727 жыл бұрын
Northernlion, the reason ot the circuit overloading is because you have all the systems on one power grid. How it works is that you want multiple power grids, with the... power jumpers i believe? which is what the Heavy duty wires are also for. the large batteries are meant for the heavy duty wires, the power jump is simply to take power from the batteries and generators to different appliances. how you could do different power grids: one for lights, one for power, one for ventilation, etc.
