Update: As of March 2021 each axle hardware package will include the updated sidewall spacers with a small chamfer added to the edge of the spacer. This greatly helps to avoid having to press fit the spacers. It still takes some force and working the spacer in with use of an axle makes them easier to line up.
Please be aware:
1 - there may still occasionally be some sidewall spacers that need a press fit.
2 - there may still be some sets of chassis out there in shops that do not have the updated sidewall spacers.
---------------------
This video covers assembly and installation of Oysi Medium Chassis 65mm
( also applies to Oysi Inline Skating Chassis 72mm, and helpful for many UFS aggressive skating frames )
• Installation of sidewall spacers requires press fit in most cases. Here is the link to the video specifically covering press fitting of the spacers
www.oysius.com/sidewall-spacer...
• Oysi Chassis requires a modification to your soul plate in order to create a recess for the outer wheels which can be done with or without tools (dremel)
www.oysius.com/soulmodtemplate/
www.oysius.com/wheel-recess-us...
www.oysius.com/notools
• Oysi Chassis requires specific UFS fasteners (M6-1.0 ISO 7380-2 Button Flange). These are included in the hardware package. Don’t use any other type of fastener when installing the Oysi Chassis to your boot!
www.oysius.com/ufs-fasteners
• Coping Mode: Place the nylon washers under the externally threaded male axle fastener. This will offset the axle head to extend past the outer frame wall. Contact with the coping will be made first with the axle head before the outer frame wall touches. Don’t use the nylon washers for anything else!

Oh man I've just been using any old UFS bolts for my Oysi frames, I'm worried now I've watched this 😬 Next time I take them off I'll reattach them with the supplied bolts.

really informative video. great to see some good tool tips. what size medium chassis would you suggest for a small them boot? i normally skate wizard skates 90mm, so a bit extra length doesn’t worry me too much.
@oysius
@oysius 3 жыл бұрын
If you like the NR 90 Wizard wheelbase.....the 269mm wheelbase Medium Chassis is just a little bit shorter in length by 2-3mm. It would have a similar feel for your stride and fore/aft stability. Usually the 257mm wheelbase is the best fit for the small shell size 7-8 especially if you are really focused on just grinds. But if you go with a 65/59 wheel combo on the 269mm wheelbase Medium Chassis you’ll have a nice touch of rocker which should create a more similar feel to the NR90s for skating with having those wheel contact points out further from the front and back of your foot.

do you need any washers for the framebolts
@oysius
@oysius 3 жыл бұрын
No, washers are not needed. Washers should NOT be used with the UFS fasteners to secure the chassis to the boot. The ISO 7380-2 Button Head Flange screw used for the UFS fasteners essentially have a washer incorporated into the head geometry which distributes the force in a specific manner through the UFS mount area on the chassis. This head design also ensures clearance between the fastener head and the middle wheels. (Adding a washer would cause the head to interfere with the middle wheels.)

This is a size 10 US Seba SX 2. But this is with a 257mm wheelbase Medium chassis. For a size 8.5 US and up 269mm wheelbase is best. This was just to demonstrate the installation.

The USD Sway soul plate seems to have wheel wells. Would it require modification for 65/58mm setup on oysi mediums or would it fit perfect?
@oysius
@oysius 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would need modification. Because the recess in the plate is not quite deep enough. 64mm revolver wheels do just fit with no additional work, but a 65 would probably not spin. Not much additional material would need to be removed.

@@anawkwardlifemedia I found it was alright on my sways with 65 outers on the Oysi. I guess it depends which wheel you get as they're not always the exact size they say they are. Either way you'd only have a whisker of plastic to remove. I've got symmetrics 65s btw. Enjoy the frames they're fucking amazing! 🤟

Either use your fingers to push against the frame walls to give you a few extra mm when entering the middle wheels or even easier use a pair of big pliers or something similar. You can put it between the frame walls and open to slightly push the walls out for an extra mm or two. I found once it's all setup and the bearings are broken in it's a super solid feeling setup and the wheels all spin freely. *Don't forget your bearing spacers otherwise your wheels may not spin well.*

I’m using NJ5 boots, do i have to modify/carve the soulplate to fit 65-58-58-65 flat setup on medium chassis?
@oysius
@oysius 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, cannot say for certain, but it's highly likely that 65mm outer wheels would fit without modification. From looking at photos of the NJ soul plates, it really seems like you wouldn't have to modify them, since they do have some sort of wheelwell molded into the stock soul plate. It would depend on if the wheelwell ends up aligned just right above the wheels. For certain we were able to fit 65mm wheels on a Razors Shift/Loca soul plate without any modification (it just happened to be aligned well) and those soul plates look to have a much more minimal stock wheelwell than the New Jack plates. If you did have to remove some additional material in the soul plate it would be very minimal.

Do I need to modify for Razors Genesys 9.1?
@oysius
@oysius 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you’ll have to modify the soul plate to make the wheel well, and for Genesys you may need to remove a little material from the shell itself because of the thin center area of the soul plate.
