Dave from Laundry is class act, he’s always booked my touring DJs when they’ve come over from the US! Cool interview as well to learn about the Aussie scene

Dope interview. Really insightful stuff. As an oldhead hip hop fan I'm grateful that theres dudes like this still supporting the young and emerging hip hop scene

As someone in the brissy rap scene hearing the similarities and differences with Melbourne and it's venues is crazy.

No-one in history said that the guards at the Espy didn't throw blokes down the steps at which point one would go through the white picket fence if one didn't understand that being thrown down the steps meant that you had to leave. . . Great chat, sick venue laundry. Dave's the best!

46:29 Happy to hear Dave rating this...I used to DJ regularly downstairs for Baddums (local deeper dubstep events - he used to run Heavy Innit w Graham) for those Wednesday nights about 10 years ago! I was LITERALLY DJing there for the Childish Gambino flash gig that night (Jan 2012) and all of a sudden the place was packed, I didn't know what was going on but all of a sudden I was "support" for him lol. I wouldn't have rinsed it so hard before him and his style if I knew what was happening but I was playing for the crowd and keeping them active. Baddums was mad he got doubled on and didn't get to DJ and got held up there but we all agreed it was a crazy experience, great crowd to DJ to...one of my best go-to memories as a local nobody DJ. I'd actually gotten a photographer friend to come down and she was stoked getting some snaps of it too. Also had a great night putting on a (fairly dud in numbers) event, and just punting for (most memorable UG events) Ras G (RIP), Uncomfortable Beats, Daisuke Tanabe...Some of the emptier ones had some of the most memorable top tier underground acts.

Cheers Danny, cheers Dave. I've been away from Melbourne for a long time now, happy to hear the Laundry name is back, early 2000s that was a spot for local hip hop nights so nice one keeping the history going. Hats off for keeping nightlife alive in Melbourne. Puzzles me why the city/gov’t is happy to let the business math get so wonky, especially after weathering all the BS with the pandemic. Who wins when venues and bars close? Property developers? The city somehow? Empty streets seem like a lose/lose for all involved.

Economy is fucked atm, all the owners treading water waiting for these Labor muppets to get the ass so economy goes back to normal and people actually have money to spend at bars/clubs again
