Minerals in the spring water give it that color. Happy trails.

Nice to see you again. Remember eating the hot wings on the podcast? LOL Nothing like hearing the rain hitting the Duplex and then hoping the rain stops before you start off in the morning! John from MI

Research says, “…what you are seeing is suspended clays eroded from recently exposed clays resulting from new erosion or upstream earthwork. Where as David Casaletto, executive director of Ozarks Water Watch says, “True color” is the color of the water after the suspended particles have been removed. Suspended particles are things such as algae, sediments or small particles of a mineral. Dissolved particles are things such as tannins (a yellowish-brown organic acid that is found in plant tissues) or particles of iron and manganese from rocks or soil. Water that is blue has a very low amount of dissolved particles in it. Comes down to there being many causes that can make the water blue or at least appear blue when it really is not blue. Isn’t proven science TOTALLY KOOL!-such a great question ladies!

My google results indicate that emerald color in rivers and creeks can be from calcium carbonate that comes from limestone. The Winding Stair area on the Eagle Rock Loop in Arkansas also has a pretty blue-green hue.

Is there anything better than hearing the rain on your fly when your snug in your tent after a day of hiking?

Balanced by the dread of having to pack up a wet tent in the morning 😂
