in addition I might add thank you for the tip on the spray waterproofing. I had also seen a video on using silicone caulking on any and all seams and zipper stitching preferably before you spray
@monkeyb18204 жыл бұрын
there are some good vids that say to mix mineral spirits with clear silicone caulk, stir it all up very well, then use paint brush to paint the seams of tent/canopy (on the interior). That's what seem-sealer is. The mineral spirits will evaporate, and it seals the seams very well.

You have a creative approach for an economical yet fully functional tent set up. This was such an informative video thanks. Are the legs strong on this canopy? Thanks for the heads up about putting the sealer on the top of the canopy. Just wondering could one lady in her 70's put that canopy up alone?
@bretbecky7115 жыл бұрын
I am in my 50's and I am pretty small. I can do it by myself. It is pretty heavy, but it comes in a bag with wheels. It takes a little longer to set it up by yourself because you have to walk around it and walk the legs out one at a time. I think the legs are very strong. The entire canopy seems very sturdy. We have used it several times and I still love it.
@frankthompson75264 жыл бұрын
That's a nice set up! I looked at one of those but didn't really understand how it worked since it was a "connect" tent. I was afraid I would get it and it would not have the poles to set it up.

It doesn't have the poles to set it up. It "connects" to the canopy and uses it's poles.

Great vid people. Prior to any U-tube showings, I bit the bullet last spring and bought the same canopy as yourselves with the connect tent that fastens to the outside and was very pleased with the set-up. I spent 9 nights in the southern Asheville area where it lashed down every day and most nights. I wrapped one wall of the canopy with a monster camo tarp and also utilized the 10 ft table that's designed for this system, leaving one open wall. I set this system up solo and after the initial fiddling about I've got it down pat. Although I didn't waterproof it and the rains and winds were heavy, at times streams of running water came into the canopy and under the tent I did not get wet whatsoever. I've since used this system in at least 4 camping spots in 3 weeks in the Nantahala area and again stayed dry. I felt like King Tut. It is a great set-up and a bargain as far as I'm concerned. In fact, today I swallowed the bullet again and bought another canopy, the same tent as yours, the mesh bug netting, 2 sun walls and 2 pocket walls and a whole bunch of other goodies that will make car camping life as comfy as possible. I can't wait to get out there and assemble my second home (truly, may become my first - and only . Viva The Constitution - without the 1st, we lose the 2nd n visa versa. Happy travels folks, be safe out there. Just subbed, Cheers.

Hello, girl ! I didn't know you had this channel, but I recognized your voice right away from watchin' a bunch of your Hillbilly Kitchen videos lately. I would like to know if you have tried this in a hard rain by this time. I have bought 2 different brands of these pop up type canopies only to have them fill up with rain and collapse and totally destroy themselves by collecting all the rain in the roof until the weight actually bent and broke some of the legs in two. I think some are made to provide "shade" and "protection from the elements" and just aren't meant to be used in the rain unless you can be there to push up on the roof every so often to get the water to run off. They don't leak, they just don't let the water run off because they aren't steep enough or they aren't braced just right and sag to form 4 giant bowls to collect tens of gallons water and 5 gallons of water weighs 45 pounds! I love the idea, and would buy this setup in a minute if you could tell me that it for sure holds up in the rain. Glad I ran into you here!

Nice video. But you never said how the inside tent got set up. Since you said it was a "connect tent", am I to assume that it only connects to the legs and roof of the canopy? I thought I saw a roof section on the inside of the tent. I have several of those exact canopies. I actually got 4 of them and another different one. I gave one to my daughter and used 3 in my chicken run. Several months ago when we got snow (not much because it melted the next morning), that night it accumulated on top of the canopies the weight caused the tops of the legs to bend completely in half, break and bend the top roofing sections. 2 lost, one left untouched. If you're going to be in the rain, make sure all sides of the canopy fabric is pulled as tight as possible at the corners AND in the middles so that you have no sagging. Otherwise you'll have a lot of water to push out of the top sides. : )
