I just got back from a 2 full day hiking trip. I used a tent and it topped out with food, two bottles of water, and gear for a humid 35 degree night at 24 pounds. Your pack sounds right on the money weight wise. I really wonder about other folks who claim to have 6-10 lb pack weights for their multi day trips this time of the year. Is their camera person carrying all their gear or are they full of it?

Enjoyed the gear video, but i didnt see that yellowand black hoodie you were wearing on the trail? Also, being as I ama twnt camper, and have zero knowledge about anything hammock related.. how much does a hammock setup like that weigh? Are we talking 1lb, 2lb, 3lb? Just curious how the weight compares to a tent. Thanks again Alex

@@arkansasalex7288 I think the weather was looking different and I changed my clothing up a bit. Hammock weight a bit more but worth it if you sleep better.

Yeah. I need to wiggle it just right. Plus if it’s a little loose, the bag around it holds it in place.

10:00 I'm curious to hear how you liked your butane stove. I have always used them, but I have never done a thru hike with resupply points where I had to juggle cannisters. 15:00 I think Enlightened Equipment has discontinued the Visp jacket. The link in your description does not lead to a valid page. I don't know why EE decided to drop that jacket from their product line. So many backpackers rave about it. I am currently using a Frog Toggs jacket, but eventually I would like to upgrade to something like the Visp. 22:00 I don't understand the need for a rod to hang your food bag. I know it doesn't weigh much, but why not just use knots?

This trip was short enough to only use one canister. I did switch out canisters last year in CO, just needed to find a local place to buy it. I’ll check out the visp issue. I know they were sourced from Vietnam and they get them in big batches. I am a moron when it comes to knots and try to avoid them. Thanks for commenting.

EE didn't discontinue the Visp line. From what I understand they continually have difficulty sourcing the fabric but they still produce batches when they can. It's worth reaching out to their customer support for an ETA inquiry.

Good video. Good info. Looking forward to your thru hike adventure. Do you wear 2 pairs of socks in the summer?
@MidwestBackpacker Жыл бұрын
I wear Injinji merino toe sock liners and darn tough socks over the top all the time except when it’s really cold, I am wearing boots and not hiking far.

Curious with the Garmin pinging ever 10 min have you found that better than say. 1 per hour or every 2 hours? Just more points I guess. Do you turn off the ping at night or shutdown the entire device?

I usually message my wife when I get to camp and then shut it down. Usually lasts 3 days on a charge.
