I bet that little hole, you thought might be a mistake is for an electrical cord to come in...
@ChameleonzDream6 жыл бұрын
the "nifty" little hole you didnt know what was for, it is actually for your electrical wires. lol great video.
@ladyofthemasque6 жыл бұрын
The "extra hole" in the corner of the door frame is a hole for an extension cord to enter the tent. Some people want to go camping in a tent (or can afford to camp only in a tent, not an RV), but still need an electrical outlet at their camping site for powering a c-pap machine, etc. An extension cord can also be run from an outdoor outlet into the tent to power electric lights, charge cell phones, etc.

ladyofthemasque thank you! I actually have a lil generator I can now make use of with that slit!

Or some people, specifically me, have to have power coming in to run my damn, bleeping medical device to sleep. Which sucks! 😁😁😁😁

Love my Ozark trail yurt. Took the family camping for 4 days on the coast with ours. 2 adults, a 3 year old and an 8 year old. It stood up to the coastal winds well. Very roomy. Will condensate with fans on inside but we didn't get wet and it dries within an hour of sun up. Well worth the $100

Thank you for this video... as you stated in the beginning of it, there aren't many, if any, reviews on this thing... I just purchased it and was already excited... now seeing your review, I'm friggin GEEKED to get this baby up and do some camping. Thank you!

We use heavy duty Coleman cots. To protect our tent floor we use Harbor Freight moving blankets. They are so cheap that when they get funky we just chuck them for new ones.

Those loops on the sides of the door are for tying the door and screens back.
@RandomGlow4445 жыл бұрын
The “little loops” on the inside and outside are for rolling up the “door” and the screen to keep it out of the way so you don’t have to wrap it around the lines . The first time I set it up I put the door frame poles through the loops. DO NOT DO THAT😂

I just spent 4 wonderful night in my yurt.... Last night it rained.. No water... My only dislike was the fact it's white and shows every thing inside at night.. Outside of that it's a great yurt...
@cmanofthewoodscentralus32175 жыл бұрын
Michael Harhala dye it a darker color then waterproof it again
@cmanofthewoodscentralus32175 жыл бұрын
Flower Child if the material will stain then it will dye. You may have to dye a couple of times to get color you desire, but be sure after you dye waterproof it again. You will have to match dye to the material and go by instructions.
@cmanofthewoodscentralus32175 жыл бұрын
Flower Child use Rit for polyester which I think is the material if not Rit makes dyes for synthetic fibers. My dealings with this is it will turn out lighter than expected so usually have to do over.

I seal every new tent I get. chip clips for the door flaps place a rug under your cot helps w/keep the floor from getting wear holes.
@TheAdventuresOfLiz5 жыл бұрын
I never thought of putting a rug under my cot. I bought this yurt with the intention of modifying it and making it look more medieval. Is the fabric itself durable? And does it need weatherproofing?

The loops by the door are to hold the door open, there's most likely 2 loops and one toggle outside the tent. That way you can have the main door held open or both the door and mesh.
@baltsosser5 жыл бұрын
The hole you mentioned is a power port pass through. you can pass an extension cord through that to power stuff inside without having to open the front of the tent.

Adam Casner You are definitely right on that. I've still been tucking the corners of the front door into the stake lines like in the video though since its quick easy and seems to give you a lil more space for entering/exiting

The loops are to tie back the screen and doors. I used this a few weeks ago during a severe storm. I had to adjust the ropes 3 times during the first night, as the wind pulled at them. There was leaks at the pocket seems in 2 places, but it held ok. The rain was continuous for about 8 hours though and seriously heavy, so considering the severity, it did ok. Lots of room. Second night it was dry and I slept well in it. U get what u pay for and held better than i expected. Enough room for 6, but would struggle with 8 adults.
@guyh.45534 жыл бұрын
Just showing it setup is nice. Hopefully with your update (haven't watched it yet, next in the que) you'll show the setup. Yes, those loops are for those pipes. I personally never use the stock stakes, I get the nail/spike stakes. Much better. For the watertightness, get some Scotch Guard and spray on it anyway. Just a good protection. Good video

@tallybeaverman94622 жыл бұрын
No tent is completely water proof, if they were when they came out of the box, it doesn't last long. However, that's why they make a tent waterproofing in a spray can. You have to waterproof the tent every year, but it lasts a full camping season.

I love the idea of a tent yurt...my only thing is it came out looking more like a circus tent. The walls should be double that height and the roof half that height...same height overall, just a different wall versus roof height. Also 8 people? Are they midgets? You will NOT have 8 people in there without a fight haha.
@baltsosser5 жыл бұрын
A little silicone sealant goes a long way for camping success. The Ozark Trail 7 Person Teepee needed 3 cans for complete coverage and it's flawlessly waterproof now. Any ide how many cans this one would take to cover the surface area once all around? I've been looking at this design all summer and I think I'd like to give it a try.
@gypsygyosh8755 жыл бұрын
V Star 1300 Adventures I only used 1 can on all the seams and it hasn't leaked at all through the fiercest storms, but better to have more than less. I'm gunna ball park and say about a can to cover it all once.
@baltsosser5 жыл бұрын
Ok. I might have gone over the top on mine. I hit not only the seams..but every inch of fabric, just to be safe. I didn't want to have THAT kind of camping adventure my friends would laugh at later. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. It looks cool as hell.

@gypsygyosh8756 жыл бұрын
fenderrocks84 I really think you can. queen size is only about 5 feet wide when the yurt is 13 you might wanna take out the little table for extra room. they might fit best in the center, but I'm sure they could fit in some arrangement regardless

What I do when I have chair or cot legs to deal with, is to drill a small hole in 2" thick rounds of oak.
@proffd9725 жыл бұрын
A few things You put the tent too close to tree. Limbs, sap, squirrels will love how you provided a landing zone for them. 8 people is a max capacity. Not a normal usage. Cut some blocks out of 3/4 plywood with a dip in the middle for the legs of your cot to protect the bathtub. Loops on door is to hold door flap, maybe? Sucky, white color. 98 dollars for walmart brand tent. You will be lucky to get 5 to 6 campouts before it leaks or tears.
@gypsygyosh8755 жыл бұрын
Dale Fearnley been 2 months straight in the woods and its holding up great! yes white tents turn gross, but its hangin in there. I know I shouldn't be so close to trees, but I always set up where there's most shade. definitely had a lil sappage, comes off with rubbing alcohol. no trouble with squirrels, no trouble with limbs but yea good point, if a giant branch decides to come down I'm screwed hah definitely shoulda protected the floor from the cot like you said but there's no holes yet. thank you for your input!
@abbyhebert57156 жыл бұрын
What sealant did you use and how much did you need?
@gypsygyosh8755 жыл бұрын
I only used one can of just whatever silicone sealant was in the camping isle at Wal-Mart I haven't had a problem yet but more is better then less as long as each coat has time to dry
@AK74Man872 ай бұрын
I finally got the tent, Iam going to add grommets to that flap to hold it down to prevent a tripping hazard. Also will add something to the table to make it a hard top. Going to use it for the first time on May 3rd when I go camping

For what it's worth. Your main poll is upside down. The manual shows the smaller extender rod with the plastic part going though the table. Probably would make the tension on the top less of a problem.

Sally Spilka aw sorry I can definitely do a review if you'd like its an Ozark trail cot, same isle of Wal-Mart as the yurt. about $30 but with no pad. its really a great cot, hasn't stretched out in two months, a lil finnicky to set up sometimes I put a $50 (I think 3inch) memory foam mattress over it with a sheet then my sleeping bag and its cozy as all heck. not as much strechin room as an air mattress but you'd be warmer through the night and take up less space. I already had the memory foam so id recommend just checking out some of the cots with pads, I think they go up to $50-60 so its cheaper then shelling out for the memory foam

Rain 🌧? How would it hold up in Rain, wind and Snow?
@gypsygyosh8755 жыл бұрын
As mentioned in the video and the update it has done fantastic in heavy rain, hail, and wind. I wouldnt trust it in snow since it can add weight at the top of the walls and cause stress on the fabric and main pole. That plus this thing is in no way insulated

@gypsygyosh8756 жыл бұрын
TheManTheMyth I waterproofed it with a silicone spray that's made for waterproofing tents boots and other outside things. you can usually find it on the same isles as the tents and camping gear in most Wal-Marts or outdoorsy stores
@gypsygyosh8756 жыл бұрын
sprayed along every seam, inside and out, let it dry and gave it another few coats. then just empied the can on the entire surface particularly the floor. got a good spray from the underneath when it was rolled out but not staked down or set up

That actually don't sound to bad at all.Although me and the wife would probably need to set up not to far from a bathroom.I hope eventually we can go on some kind of camping trip.Although we seem to be starting to get abit old to rough it.So something like this may allow us to get out abit.
@gypsygyosh8755 жыл бұрын
T Ritchie Great! I think regardless of age, havin a bathroom that's not a trip is a necessity aha. its very easy, 'specially with all the new camping gear and solar packs and so on nowadays, to camp without roughing it. campers and trailers are becoming the retirement plan for many a boomer, and tech products are following to make glamping easier for the youthfully challanged. I'm sure that starting with this yurt, as opposed to just a tent, you and your wife would have a wonderful time explorin and hardly even feel like your camping!
