Some years ago I did a few of the trails in Colorado and wanted to do Black Bear but knew it was highly ill advised with a stock half ton extended cab chev which has very unimpressive clearance and a horrible turning radius and making some of those switchbacks would have been next to impossible. Of the 5 you listed I was on Taylor but starting from the Aspen side and in the dark which was not intended but will say when you can't see the trail edge beside you its unsettling, next morning went down the other side and picture a low truck with full running boards in the boulder section, it was a challenge with such a unit and the water was rushing pretty good at the entrance to the trail/stream and not a lot of room to make that turn with the rock walls/large boulder and no one to assist if I did get into any issues and no winch either. I talked to someone at the campground just before the taylor side of the trail and he couldn't believe it when he walked around my pickup and saw no damage at all. I had done Imogene, various other ones out of Animas Forks, one that struck me as unique from others is Mt Antero due to the altitude and height above the landscape.

Check out Ellwood Pass on East Fork road outside Pagosa Springs Co. There is a staging area at the bottom, East Fork Campground right at the start, and tons of dispersed camping along E Fork road two-six miles from the parking area. After you traverse Ellwood, head into the mining town of Platoro and get burgers and beer. 🥸

Can someone assist me with a specific trail/trailhead name for the Flat Tops route shown in this video? There was mention of it being part of the enchanted rockies trail, but I've checked multiple map sources for that trail and nothing comes close to Glenwood Springs and the flat top area (it's all much further east by Silverthorne). I was planning to head into the flat top area in July and setup camp for a day or two, but according to AllTrails there are no off roud trails through that area. Hoping someone can tell me that alltrails is wrong! :) TIA

NVM..just relistened and caught that it was Transfer Trail. Still interested in a version of the enchanted rockies route that includes this area. Anyone have a good source for the .gpx?

Since you did most of the Jeep badge of honour trails in your JK. It means it has to stay with the JK?
@OzarkOverlandAdventures Жыл бұрын
Mine stayed with my JK because I didn’t want to deal with taking them off. Lol. But I think the driver earns the badge, not the Jeep.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures JKU Rubicon is a very capable of the box (Auto transmission, sway bar disconnect, front and rear lockers, solid axels, big tyres, good gear ratio, winch, quality suspension lift kit etc..) I believe you earned those badges with a highly modified jeep, so don't give yourself 100% credit😃
@OzarkOverlandAdventures Жыл бұрын
@@laloolhouvum1634 I wouldn't call my JKU with 2.5" lift and 35s highly modified. LOL. I've done much harder badge trails in my Gladiator that I would never take my JKU on. But my philosophy is whether someone did a badge trail in their own rig or a rental or driving a friend's rig, it's the driver that earned the badge.
@laloolhouvum1634 Жыл бұрын
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures i didn't say you're a bad driver. According to our standard a Jeep Rubicon JKU with comes standard with features like lockers, sway bar disconnect, 3.6L V6 engine with 2.5 lift and 35s, after market bumpers, lights, winch etc..
