I still contend they should nickname this place the Missou’ring.

Track rating (from video alone). Degree of difficulty: high to very high. Degree of danger: wtf man. Fun to drive: 11.0 on 0-10 scale, once you're past wetting your pants. Fun to race/race ability : -6.7 on 0-10 scale. Hopefully I’ll wrong on that last part. Now… imagine this place in the wet.

I heard this track was laid out like in the 1960s. Plant flags in grass. Go get up on the tallest hill and talk about it. Then go move the flags. I vote for more of this!

As a Missourian myself, this track looks like it drives exactly like a missouri backroad: undulating, constantly varying camber, elevation change on corner entry. Drivers who have enjoyed themselves on backroads in missouri will definitely have a bit of advantage here. Just like our backroads, looks incredibly fun but really scary with a small margin for error.

That was exactly what I noticed. I have been following this track build with great anticipation. The lack of distance between the track edge and armco, especially in some of the more blind corners with a crest is a bit concerning.

They wont be the race has been moved to NOLA now due to "Safety concerns" and after watching this I can see why... No run offs tight passing windows and lots and lots of fence with not much gravel to catch off track cars going fast... Shame shame to I would love for GT America to come here.

All that land in the middle of no where, and they have K-rail EVERYWHERE 1 car width away from the track. WHY?? Why can't their be more room for mistakes and racing? That's an automatic trip to the body shop with an off just about anywhere on the track. That's ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous and deadly for motorcycles. The owners need to go buy a shltbox with no brakes and take it for a few laps; and re-think all that K-rail and placement.
@waltersobchak80803 жыл бұрын
The owners race in IMSA so I'm pretty sure they know what they were getting into.
@Villoresi3 жыл бұрын
In some areas, I know they don't have much of a choice, because of protected waterways they're just not allowed to touch by law. It's probably also simply impractical to flatten out enough land in many spots to make run-off that won't cause just as much trouble.
@SydwayzMonsoon3 жыл бұрын
When you watch IMSA race at VIR, you will see them describe and complain that the track is too narrow. Which, myself, as a club racer with more laps there than I can count. find NOT to be the case at all. But I, as a club racer think that 3 car widths on this track IS really narrow, with little to no room for error if someone drops a tire. I really hope I'm wrong, but this looks like a great HPDE/lapping track... ...but not so great for wheel-to-wheel racing; especially in spec classes. Have you ever seen a pack of 70 Spec Miatas on a road course? It's organized chaos... ...until it isn't. And then you literally have a log jam on a track like this.
@SydwayzMonsoon3 жыл бұрын
Watch a few Miatas go off at T4 and T10, REALLY egregiously here at VIR; and NO wall contacts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHSWeZunhNqlbrc
@Villoresi3 жыл бұрын
@@SydwayzMonsoon That's fine, but it sure looks like the hillsides here are more extreme than those at VIR, for a start. I'd almost be surprised if the difference between high and low here was only 130 ft (what it is at VIR). And again, it has to be practical to sufficiently level the surrounding hillsides. The aforementioned waterways, and just the plain stability of the land, have to be accounted for in determining that. More space isn't automatically a good thing, if it leads to incidents like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoO9koKlfJySZ5o Furthermore, it looks like the track folding over on itself to a much greater degree than VIR likely plays a part. Thinking of another circuit with limited run-off in areas, I know Road America has some challenging spots. Of course, you have that huge hillside on either side around "the Kink", and there's a railroad right-of-way down the hill on the outside of the circuit. And don't get me wrong, I'm really curious how Ozarks is going to manage to get an FIA Grade 2. Now that said, I'll also be really happy if there's a really nice, top-tier, natural-terrain road course within 700 miles of me. No offense, but Austin doesn't exactly do it for me.
