Hello, thank you very much for such good information. My question is the following: with a 20gr/H water-cooled ozone generator, and cooling the oil container, in order to make a 5-litre batch at a time, how long would it take? And also the oxygen level would be 1 LPM? Thank you very much for your help.
@Oxidationtechnologies2 ай бұрын
To estimate the time for ozonating 5 liters of oil with a 20 g/hr ozone generator at 1 LPM of oxygen flow, we’ll consider several factors: Ozone Concentration & Reaction Rate: Typically, higher ozone concentrations mean faster reaction times. A 20 g/hr generator should provide a strong concentration, but oils absorb ozone at varying rates depending on their viscosity and composition. Batch Size & Container Cooling: For a 5-liter batch, cooling is key. Ozone dissolves more effectively at lower temperatures, preventing oil overheating, which can slow down ozone uptake. Effective cooling is especially essential given the large batch size. Estimated Time: For a generator of this capacity, ozonating a 5-liter batch might take between 24 and 48 hours. However, results may vary based on the type of oil, temperature control, and exact generator output. Monitoring for consistency in ozone levels and regularly cooling the oil should yield the best results.

you should've made the bubbles 10 or better 100 times smaller. that increases the surface area since a bubbles touches the oil only on its surface.

Hello. If I use a generator that produces 3,000 mg per hour of ozone (this is a machine I built myself). Will 0.5 liters of oxygen flow per hour be enough to create an ozone paste, or do we still have to flow 1 liter of oxygen flow?
@Oxidationtechnologies11 ай бұрын
0.5 LPM of flow is fine, provided the ozone concentration is at least 5% by weight. The ozone output, mg/hr is not the important number in this application. It appears this is an organic oil and would therefore be a great holder of the additional reactive oxygen species remaining from the ozonation process. If you are interested, we would be glad to produce this for you. Contact our office for details and pricing.

Does the oil hold the ozonation or does it fade over time?
@Oxidationtechnologies2 жыл бұрын
The oil holds the reactive oxygen species quite well, that is the advantage of ozonated olive oil. The power of ozone can be stored for long periods. In the refrigerator, we expect minimal degradation in 6-months. In the freezer the oil can be stored indefinitely.

I came here because I am looking to buy an ozonator (O3 generator) for oils. Then I saw 25 hours for 1liter of oil! How can one speed that up?
@Oxidationtechnologies2 жыл бұрын
Ozone generators with higher ozone production capacity will speed the process dramatically. However, this process does produce heat as a by-product, be aware you may need cooling for your reactor in faster processes. We do carry a wide variety of higher-capacity ozone generators that will work great for this process. Can ozonated oil be made using venturi?
@Oxidationtechnologies Жыл бұрын
We do not believe so. Due to the increasing of the oil viscosity, we believe the venturi would loose efficiency throughout the process. However, we have not researched this much as we find the solubility of ozone gas into the liquid to be very good using a bubble diffuser. This video illustrates this quite well. Note how low the off-gassed ozone remains throughout the initial 75% of the process. This indicates that 100% or near 100% of the ozone was consumed by the oil. Therefore, our efficiency of already quite good using the method shown here.

@Oxidationtechnologies2 жыл бұрын
LPM (liters per minute) is the flow of oxygen/ozone gas into the olive oil. ug/ml (micrograms per milliliter) would commonly refer to the dosage range of ozone in micrograms per milliliter of fluid. There is no direct correlation of LPM to ug/ml. However, we did provide the ozone production rate in the description. We can use that to calculate the dosage rate, or ug/ml. 4.7 g/hr (grams per hour) of ozone is produced in the flow-rate of 1 LPM of gas flow. This equals 78.33 ug/ml of ozone dosage per minute. This process took a total of 25 hours = 1500 minute 1,500 min * 78.33 = 117,495 ug/ml final ozone dosage rate used here. Does this help answer your question?
