Okay, okay, yes! Sorry! Ozone says you can use the brakes even when trimmed out! I was stuck in Apco EZ-R mode. That said, I've never gotten in trouble using tip steer while trimmed out...

hold on... as you know i got the spyder3 just now and i was so sure i read in the manual thst trimms out brakes MUST not be touched.😮 also i watch some other not very informative reviews and they all say it doesnt oscillate at all. why is my wing swinging left and right like crazy? even after it gets too much and i actively stop oscillations, the second i stow brakes it starts to swing again. you can see that in my latest flights. thanks for this little flight. i learned so much more than with the other videos i just watch about the spyder3. please enlighten me avery. what am i doing wrong? 😅

@@cloudpandarism2627 it might be throttle induced. Try increasing your torque compensation if it's adjustable, or smoothing out your throttle use if it's sporadic. I will double check the manual, I swore I checked it after people raised cane. Regardless of manual recommendations, I wouldn't touch brake while reflexed either.

@@AveryFlies you right. i dont need trim out cause my fat ass is faster anyway than everbody else here. nil wind launches we supposed to trim to red line. i doubt i will ever trim out just because i might forget in panic moment not to touch brakes. i am thinking of a way to limit trimmers somehow that red line is the maximum they can go. as for oscillations. i feel they even start when motor is off and i am gliding down but i will keep an eye out for that thanks mate!

@@AveryFlies just double checked my video where i climb up high and glide down. you are correct! throttle off have no oscillations! so it is my fault then and i need install the anti torque strap thingy i ignored before. thanks alot!

I must have watched this a while back. I think before I got my Spyder 3. After flying it, this video seems more relevant to me, IKR. The comparison with the Mojo, beginner wing, made more sense to me in this video. It's nice to hear a comparison from someone who flew Mojo for a good while. Interesting video, glad I watched it again. I continue to learn from your videos, thank you Avery, great job.

Nice. Next time you take it up, try some turns with the break toggles in hand and grab those tip steering toggles at the simultaneously. I think you will really like the feel.

“I wouldn’t want to tie in tip steering if I had this”.. grabs tip steering and realizes how great it is😂 I don’t do anything crazy either but trust me- you want it tied in. It’s amazing

Idk, shifting from toggles mentally reminds me to not do anything stupid as I shift between acceleration states.

@@AveryFlies I guess I can see that. I don’t use speedbar and the spyder can use brakes fully trimmed out so I don’t need any reminders in my case haha

I'm looking for the same characteristics in a B wing as you. I've been flying a BGD Magic for 1.5 years now. Wondering which B wing you decided on, and what size. Thanks for the review on the Spyder 3.
@AveryFlies
@AveryFlies Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike! I'm doing something weird, I'm jumping from my Mojo to a cross country reflex wing like a speedster. If you were looking for a B wing that has some speed to it, the best one I've flown would be this Spyder. A close second would be the Apco EZ-R, but it doesn't inflate as nicely as the Spyder. If you want easy inflation and landings while sacrificing speed, then look at my review of the Gin Vantage 3. The vantage isn't a reflex wing, so it's slower than the Spyder or ez-R, but in inflates better thanks to it's lighter material, flies simpler, and I think lands better than a Spyder or EZ-R.

Actually the brakes can be used with the trims fully out, just not with trims out and speedbar. In the manual "With the trimmers fully released it is possible to use the brakes for directional control. However when flying faster - by accelerating further with the speed system - directional control should be maintained with the TST"
@AveryFlies
@AveryFlies Жыл бұрын
I did read that afterwards when putting this video together, but oh well- definitely not getting in trouble with tst instead. Tip steer was surprisingly effective, I wasn't lacking turn authority.

@@AveryFlies I know that the Ozone manual says that you can use break while fully trimmed out... but do you really want to deflect the trailing edge of a trimmed out reflex wing? I choose use tip steering only when trimmed past neutral. Maybe its just me.
@AveryFlies
@AveryFlies Жыл бұрын
@ParamotorNC No, it's me too. Knowing what I know and experiencing other wings, I would still use tst when reflexed regardless of the manual, I just wouldn't have said that you need to in the video 🤣

I got to demo the Sirrocco 3 this weekend at Bad Apples. Yeah I'm sold. I can't wait to sell mine A wing and get something along the lines of a Sirrocco.

How’s this compare to the Gin Vantage 3? I dig the reviews!
@AveryFlies
@AveryFlies Жыл бұрын
I think the flare is about the same. Without using tip steering, the vantage turns better. The spyder is faster in flight though, trimmed out it is almost as fast as the vantage on bar and trims, so with bar the Spyder would win a race. The Spyder did not inflate like I expected though, it was slow like my mojo. Basically, the vantage definitely has the edge in ease of inflation and steering, but the spyder is quicker in flight. I think I still like the vantage more than the spyder since I prioritize inflation and flare response, but if you want to go fast you can't beat reflex!

@@AveryFlies that’s very good info. I’m on the hunt for my “B” wing to replace my mojo. My list is roughly the vantage, roadster/ spyder, solo, uni 1.1 or sky flux. Any others you’d recommend?

What do you want in a wing? Personally I'm considering a gin falcon, O have yet to fly one though. I want that straight line speed but without giving up inflation ease, I have yet to find my goldilocks

@@AveryFlies that’s one I eventually want but it’s too big of a step at the moment. I like all the things you had to say about the vantage 3. It’s sounds easy, fun and quick enough. What was your speeds you got again? I really like that the breaks can be used through the whole speed range. With the light weight material would that make it any less “strong” to handle G’s in maneuvers like wing overs and spirals?
@AveryFlies
@AveryFlies Жыл бұрын
I can't speak to the strength of the wing, but the logic is yes, it wouldn't handle extreme G's as well. I expect wingovers would be fine but don't try a power loop for example. The bigger threat would be ground handling wear and tear on the thinner fabric in my mind. As for speed, my vantage review was on a windy day, so I can only offer acceleration increases. I got +3 mph trimmed out and +6 mph on bar, so a 9 mph increase in speed is available over the trimmed neutral position. The Mojo pwr2 I fly regularly only has 4-5 mph hidden in the trims and bar for reference
