Best British band ever. Been my fave band since someone played a tape in 6th form common room back in 86. Still going strong in 2021...cheers Ed!

Ozrics played a great set and then The Orb played afterwards, illuminating the night sky as a whole field tripped out on mushrooms (in my tripped out mind on an eighth of shrooms and loads of whizz, skinning up a joint in each hand simultaneously 😎, spliff miracles) A great era of music and a great time to be alive. Genuinley felt we were on the cusp of a revolution.

I was there too. Stereo MCs were on before Ozrics and Orb. What a fantastic night it was! Another highlight was Dr. Didge playing on the pyramid stage early one morning. Great times.

Very late the night before this set they played in a tent to about 20 people. Tripping away nicely on dynamite acid I asked the bloke next to me who the band was. he turned with t slow grin and said "The Ozrics man!" Very powerful band.

Hawkwinds first album on my first trip. was my dads, had been listening to it for a while but took on another dimension on acid, and yeah it was pretty special. was listening to the orb and Ozrics a lot at the time so to see them both with head full of acid with big golden sun setting behind the stage was very special.

Haha me too man! - it was 'Purple Ohms' on this young fools menu, if memory serves.... (it.... occasionally does) XD I think *Rage Against The Machine* kicked serious arse in '93 glasto as well, I mean really tore it up, as good as *Nirvana* the year before (@ Reading 92) just after the great black wind through the bones that was *Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds,* in that period .....Tempus Fugit, and all that. -Peace

As for the Orb I remember they did a super laid-back set in '93 (which messed with my more 'Hardcore heavy' mates - .....didn't stop me and the rest from jumping around like lunatic seaweed) - I think the Orb played right after Stereo MCs that year? (whom I also liked , being the Manc I am - plus owning ears, etc) - Thanks for getting me remembering :D - I had NO idea ANY of this stuff was on YT.... Nearly 25 years ago!! Tell me, does that not blow your fuckin' (old, really old) mind?? Un-be-lievable. O_o

Merv absolutely killing it, phenomenal drumming. Amazing kick and snare sound... was this a FOH mix or separate split for a live recording (I'm guessing the latter given that it was a televised show, and given that you can't hear the flute... someone in the back who can mix drums like a boss but doesn't know the band)

That's a proper old youtube comment right there. Merv and Joie left soon afterwards to do Eat Static full time. I loved Eat Static but for me them leaving robbed the Ozrics of something they never really got back. Generator Jon leaving at around the same time was also a serious hit to the sound. I do think Waterfall cities was an amazing achievement but for me it's the last of the older sounding Ozrics albums. Since then it's far more of an Ed Wynne solo effort with a very capable band around him. Still amazing but it does lack the random spontaneity of the earlier band when he was surrounded by similar talents and egos pulling in different directions. Luv and Peace.

First time i saw this amazing band was at glasto 95 on the main stage, think john was wearing a hecium sack with holes cut out for his arms and his head lol.. They were a proper band back then and turned up and played for free at soo many festivals during the 90's.... Harvest Fayre Festival 96 i think it was,,,,barely any bands showed up cos the security guards fucked off after the travellers pulled all the fences down and basically took over haha...stood in one tent for an entire day first band to show up and play for free was kangaroo moon, followed by revolutionary dub warriors, then Zion Train played an amazing set and then the Ozrics finally showed up and jammed until the early hours under a thick fog of skunk smoke and nag champa....all for free!! Can't see 'em doing that nowadays but they're not the same band now.
@zetetick3957 жыл бұрын
It's "Hessian sack" good sir....Just fyi :) - The Ozrics played in the middle of the days HOT sun that year? Am I remembering that right? To be fair to 'em (about how ' they're not the same band now') his whole house burned down couple of years ago, with *everything* inside it (in a huge forest fire, while they were away on tour) ...So I imagine he may NEED some money.
