Got a RV4 for the last 12 years. Absolutely brilliant tent and quality

12 years is a good innings, we consistently hear from people who have been using an Oztent for decades, thanks for your feedback, Sense of Adventure. ~ Ben

Great review. Head goes up the door end for the side window and extra room🤘 fantastic tents

Thanks @chrisandshazza01! I know lots of people love their head at the back to get a sky view on a clear night, but you're absolutely right that the door end would functional too. ~ Lauren

Great review, I have the RV5 and RV5+ and this single video covers both models so well. Great RV5 updates as I had to make the LIGHT tabs myself on my old tent, and new rear extra room is great. Best for explaining the new and old. Just glad the connector is still usable. Pity about the side awning but the speed to have one zip compare to two better.

Yeah, some good improvements, thanks for the compliment, Sean. The regular RV tents are still largely available for those wanting to use all the optional extras such as the side waning. ~ Ben

Great demonstration of the tent and features thanks, Quick question What size are the Zippers that run along the Awning for attaching to the batwing or other things?
@SnowysOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
The zipper is the same as used for attachment on all Oztent products, Roger, but I'm not sure of the specifics sorry. It's a chunky stamped plastic zipper that doesn't have a brand indicated, whereas YKK are usually easily identifiable in this respect. The slider does have either a '1' or a '7' stamped in the end, and when I tried to attach it to a #10 YKK chunky zipper it didn't fit as the teeth were a little too large. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, I hope this helps though. ~ Ben

@@SnowysOutdoors Thanks Ben, I also tried a #10 on my batwing awning, just a touch too big, I need something slightly smaller to zip to it. Hopefully someone else can chime in on the zipper size. Have a great day! Roger

I have ordered this tent from you guys. Very excited to get my first oztent upgrading from the swag. Do you have any videos on kitchen set ups for the front area of an RV tent?
@SnowysOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
We don't have videos on full kitchen setups sorry 4x4therapy, everyone is going to have their own preference here. We do have a video on the Darche Stowaway Camp Kitchen which is a pretty good place to start, check it our here - www.snowys.com.au/stowaway-camp-kitchen. ~ Ben

Does this style of tent really have that many advantages over the older style of touring tent like the oztrail tourer 9? This is 2 - 4 times the price, more moving parts, less room, potentially same setup time... I haven't tried one though, could be some advantages?
@SnowysOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Actually, the same amount of room @Mr Nacho - both tents have 260cm square floor space. The advantages over the Tourer 9 including the grade/quality of the canvas & fixings, the flooring, water head rating, etc aswell as the awning & ability to extend your living area by enclosing this with wall kits. Just check out the customer feedback and reviews on this tent for more of an idea as to why people love them! ~ Lauren

Hi there can you connect 2x RV5 plus side by side via the awnings
@SnowysOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
You can't connect them side by side, Evan, to do that you'd just need to set them up closely together and maybe use a tarp to cover the gap if you are camped in the rain. ~ Ben

You can add the tag along tent via the awnings to create a much bigger tent mate

Just debuted mine. The floor is not tough, you will need an extra ground sheet. The rain cover rips very easily, not sufficient for transportation. Everything else checked out well though.
@SnowysOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that @Jason Stewart...that's unusual feedback for the RV series, they're generally one of the best loved and bomb proof touring tents on the market! People have had theirs for years without issues. I you feel like you've recieved one not up to scratch, Id recommend having it checked out by Oztent for potential warranty issues. ~ Lauren

@@SnowysOutdoors thanks Lauren, the tent is fine, it’s just the roof rack rain cover that was ripped.

Hi is this size comfortable enough for 2 adults, 1 teen & a child?
@SnowysOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
The RV5 is a popular choice for families with a few kids, just triple check the sleeping area space against existing mats you might have. It'd worth looking at the panel wall sets to give you that extra front room if the teenager wants some separate space. ~ Lauren

Hey Ben, what do you like better the RV 5 or RX 5?
@SnowysOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
I've checked in with Ben on this one Paul D, he hasn't had any camping experience with the RX5 but he does have an RV as his main tent, and reckons that pretty great. ~ Lauren

Hi Ben, Great video, as always. I reckon all the oztents are excellent. I've got an RX5, and it's fantastic. We're a family of four and we sleep in the main tent side by side. Zempire twin mat for us, and blackwolf singles on each side for the kids. Works great. The rx5 living room is really good extra space too (especially in the wet) but there are times that side panels would be better (with the front open). I've asked before, and I'm told that the rv plus side panels will not fit on an rx5 tent. However, I cannot understand why?? This tent looks very much like an rx5: - same 2.3m peaked awning, - same curved zipper around the side wall corner, - same 4 peg points across the back wall, - same sky light. Are you absolutely sure the rv plus side panels wouldn't fit on an rx5? I'd love to have some as an alternative option to the full living room. Although I recognise that the fabric colour wouldn't match. I might have to get my local canvas man to make me some...
@SnowysOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Oztent don't advertise compatibility here, Nigel, but I went to try this out for myself and it would seem the side panels do attach with some limitations. You'll need to use the RV Plus Side Panels for an RX tent which have one continuous zipper, whereas the RV side panels have two zippers , one along the top and the other on the side. The limitation, apart form the colour, is that you won't be able to add a front panel as the zipper on the front of the RX awning runs in the opposite direction to standard RV tents. I'll add a caveat here in that I tried this on a demo tent which was pitched loosely in our shop and it appeared to be functional, I'm not sure if there are any unforeseen limitations once setup in the field, but given the fact that the zipper runs all the way along the top and to the base, I imagine it would be fine. I hope that helps. ~ Ben

I was really keen on this tent until i sore that metal bar across the middle of the floor 🤦♂️ No thanks.

I have one of these, Josh, the bar sits flat on the floor and by the time you put a mat over it it isn't at all noticeable. ~ Ben
