Loved the fast editing for the shots hitting the target! Better than watching a target for 5 seconds before anything happens.

My Lithgow LA101 22lr loves the RWS. Never jams. Accurate. Out of 500 rounds had 1 failure to fire. Just rotated the round and it fired.

I have been using some RWS Target ammunition here in Canada too, Ozzie, and it's averaging about $9.00 CAD ( and FYI CAD and AUD are withing pennies of each other in the exchange rates) per box of 50. However I do like the pre-lubed or waxed ammo. that RWS offers, it seems to cycle more easily in my CZ455. I can't get my head around the cost of those .22 Magnum loads you have there. I have not found those here, but for the heck of it, I will check at the Range store when I go today. Thanks for this Ammunition review.

Yeah I remember speaking to a guy in the US who used them in his 22mag and he raved about their performance at 125 yards... I didn't see the point in going out that far with the rifles I had as the 100 yard test was enough to see the result. Still at 50 yards in the Lithgow they were cutting hole through hole, so I'm disappointed it wasn't the same at 100!
@regsparkes65077 жыл бұрын
That is a tad strange, I agree. So in view of this, are you going to try out other ammo. with the same rifles ? I'm thinking if we could have a comparison of three or four brands, then we can get a clearer picture. Of course there are some guys in the British Isles who are doing pest control shooting out at considerably greater ranges with .22's, and seem to have good results. But again, they are not doing comparisons like you are. I guess I'm saying that ammunition performance comparisons are very informative and interesting , at the same time and Ozzie Reviews is the one to do it ..

RSW hv-hp fires beautiful through my Ruger precision rimfire, idk if u can own handguns in Australia but it also fires great through my S&W M&P 22 compact & my 22 Browning 1911.

hi Aussie got back from the range today with my Lithgow 101 22 lr shooting 20m with a optisan 6,24x56 bench rest scope using rws target ammo for 10 shot groups at around 4.5mm group size, it was common as 3 other shooters also great groupings. also the scope was a great surprise , one for people to look at as well.

Good work mate, did you try it at any further distances?

Nice review. I don't see RWS ammo to often on gun shelves. Not sure why. However awhile ago I did shoot a few groups using the RWS Subsonic HP with mixed results on of my C452 Varmint. I'd be keen to see you do a review on this ammo. Or maybe a shootout using Geco Rifle, SK Match and the RWS Subs. Cheers.

I might just do that, sounds like a plan, cheers

Good review mate. My CZ452 .22lr loves the RWS HP. Oh yeh and its interesting to note that according to RWS the HP stands for high penetration, although it is obviously also hollow point and it doesnt state either on the box.

That is interesting, thanks for sharing the info Albert, cheers

Sad to hear about the SK ammo. My CZ 452 varmint absolutely loves the HV HP. I'm sitting on 4400 rounds at the moment, but may have to pick up another 5000. Cheers from Canada!

Nice work Ozzie, its a pity the RWS magnum ammo didnt shoot better and I know it would vary from rifle to rifle but at that cost I doubt I will be trying it! Most 22 magnums will group an inch to 1 1/2 inches at 100 meters, they arent inherantly accurate like say a 223 but for foxes and rabbits I love mine!

My Lithgow does under an inch with Hornady Critical Defense
@ratpak647 жыл бұрын
yep, seen the video, we cant get the 45 grain critical defense ammo in Vic for love nor money. I use the 40 grain cci hollow points in my fieldman, would love to try the hornady but only the 30 grain stuff is available locally and it dosnt agree with my rifle.

MY MARLIN IN.22 MAG JUST LOVES THE RWS,HAVE DONE COMPARISONS WITH EVERY OTHER .22 MAG ON THE MARKET. AT 100 YARDS OFF A BENCH THE RWS CONSISTANTLY GROUPED AT OR UNDER AN INCH.THE 40 GRAIN SP IS DEADLY ON JACK RABBITS OUT TO 100 YARDS,HAVE EVEN TAKEN A FEW COYOTES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS.LOVE TO SEE THAT PUFF OF DUST AND HEAR THE THUD ON IMPACT.FOR ME THERE IS NO BETTER,.22WMR OUT THERE.

Good stuff mate, thanks. I got good results with the 22LR through my LA101. As far as 22Mag, I've got a Henry and only use it for "yippee shooting" - open sights, so extreme accuracy isn't really a requirement. RWS has a well earned reputation in my area, but still prefer the Win 40gn Pwr Pnts, lol, probably more habit than results. :)
@ozziereviews7 жыл бұрын
lol yes true, the power points have a good following and I understand, they hit hard but I haven't found their accuracy the best to make them my go-to in my 22s as yet...

Great review Ozzie, just wondering what the velocity on the .22lr is? As they look like a great bunny round for my Uberti Silver Boy as it loves CCI Mini Mags. Also btw, been trying to track down some CCI Velocitors as I live in NQ but just wondering if the boys in Cleavers get them in? Cheers mate. I'll post a group when I get sighted in
@ozziereviews7 жыл бұрын
1260fps and yes Cleavers has Velocitors (as I purchased some from there myself :))
@TheGlennslattery7 жыл бұрын
ozziereviews Awesome mate, been looking for them for close to 2 years now as they look like a thumping round in case a feral kitty jumps in front of the sights as my Uberti seems to like 40 grain+ but i want a quicker round. Stingers just don't group well enough for hunting for me. RWW look like a great round when i cant get minimags too. thanks again mate. keep up the good work. I'll grab a brick of Velocitors and send some pictures of groups

Hey Ozzie have you tried any of the çci A22 mag 35gr game point rounds yet ? It seems to be the most powerful round I have been able to find to date. I grabbed a box of 200 last time I was at cleavers but haven't been able to touch it off yet!

I must have got lucky with my CZ455 because its very accurate and unfussy with any quality brand ammo. Armscorp is crap, don’t waste your money on that. RWS works pretty good but the Eley is definitely its favourite. Surprisingly good and consistent I have found is the winchester bushman. But hey its 22lr. Sometimes its a lottery and batches vary. I mostly use subsonics but when I need a bunny round with a bit more range the bushman shoots about 5/6mm higher than the Eley sub but windage is still good. Saves me re zeroing the scope.

I was also curious. What ammo review goes through all this and does NOT have actual velocity specs? If memory serves, this 22 mag ammo is very close if not over the 2000fps threshold whereas the the CCI and other 22 magnum ammo makers offer 1790fps plus or minus!
